Title: Powerful Story
Review: I have a 4 and 6 year old and weâve been talking a lot about growth mindset lately. It is so great to find a story that presents the message so well and catches the attention of both my kids. We all love this story. I was also pleased to see that it is being read to students in my sonâs first grade classroom.

Title: Beautiful reminder of the power of "yet"
Review: Itâs not the start of a new year, but it is the start of a new school year â so letâs talk growth mindset! Last January, I made a huge list of picture books to promote growth mindset, and you all LOVED that list (itâs still one of my most visited posts on my website!). Today, Iâve got a wonderful (relatively) new release to add to that list: The Magical Yet by Angela DiTerlizzi, illustrated by Lorena Alvarez.Letâs start with the enticing cover, surprise under the dust cover, and immaculately detailed endpapers. Lorena Alvarez, you have outdone yourself! This delightful, inviting work continues in every illustration throughout the book. My girls love finding the extra hidden details with each new reading, and I canât get over how wonderfully inclusive they are! (I mean, I love the fact that the ballet class includes two boys!).And for the growth mindset message â just trust me that this book is the perfect way to start something new, whether a new calendar year, a new school year, or a new class or hobby. Teachers commonly talk with students about using the phrase âI canât do that *yet*,â rather than saying âI canât do that!â DiTerlizzi has personified âYetâ as a magical creature that comes alongside all of us (in a different form for each unique person...), stays with us, and grows with us as we grow and change. And in every situation, our Yets remind us that âif you keep leaping / dreaming, wishing â / waiting, learning, / trying, missing... / with the Yet as your guide, along the way, / youâll do all the things you canât do today.âThis book has been on repeat in our house for the past month or so. In fact, we love it so much that we bought copies for the girlsâ teachers this year, too... I figure this school year will look like no other for just about every kid (and teacher!) out there, so thereâs bound to be a lot of opportunities for Yet to help them all out!

Title: This is THE Book
Review: This book is short enough to keep everyone interested. But so much is packed in. It rhymes which is always a plus as it allows those being read to, to interact and anticipate the rhyming words. And the message is so so good. This is a perfect book for children and adults who could use a reminder to stay hopeful.

Title: One of the best
Review: In my opinion this is one of the best kids books out there. I was a pre-k teacher and am now a counselor who works with kids and I just think this is so sweet, inspiring, and such a good message for kids. I've purchased at least 3 times for gifts and each parent loves it.

Title: Beautiful message
Review: I ordered this for my second grade class but read this to my kids at home (ages 4&8). They loved the illustrations and found the story relatable with practical examples. My 4yr old saw the picture of the bike and said, âI fell off my bike today but Iâm still getting better at it.â Itâs a very engaging story with a great message that the more you practice, the better youâll get at those things you canât do YET.I plan to do this with a literature extension and have my students write something they can do now but couldnât do in the beginning of first, and then write something they are working on now. This is a new favorite that I plan to incorporate in the first 2 weeks of school every year!

Review: Really amazing message for our kid, on perseverance and trying again and again for eventually mastering pretty much any skill or simply enjoying hobbies for the sake of it, without quitting the minute it gets tricky... I love the diversity in the characters representations! +non binary main character? which is awesome. Illustrations are wonderful.

Review: What a wonderful book. Beautifully written with sweet, but poignant rhymes, easy to understand (my 4.5 yr old daughter loves it), and a truly fantastic message. Itâs about how everyone has a cute magical creature called their Magical Yet. It helps us believe in ourselves, get through the disappointments that are guaranteed, and lets us know that weâre not alone when we try again and again. It shows realistically discouraged, then determined kids practicing their way to eventual success and itâs really just a lovely messages.Iâd buy it for any kid from about age 3 on up.
