Is living the life you’ve wished for really a dream come true?
Lucy Young is twenty-six and tired. Tired of fetching coffees for senior TV producers, sick of going on disastrous dates, and done with living in a damp flat with roommates who never buy toilet paper. After another disappointing date, Lucy stumbles upon a wishing machine. Pushing a coin into the slot, Lucy closes her eyes and wishes with all her might: Please, let me skip to the good part of my life.
When she wakes the next morning to a handsome man, a ring on her finger, a high-powered job, and two storybook-perfect children, Lucy can’t believe this is real—especially when she looks in the mirror, and staring back is her own fortysomething face. Has she really skipped ahead like she’s always wanted, or has she simply forgotten a huge chunk of her life? As Lucy begins to embrace new relationships and the perks of maturity, she’ll have to ask herself: Can she go back to her previous life, and if so, can she stand to leave the good part behind?

Title: Favorite read of January
Review: Lucyâs life at 26 is a wild ride, she can barely afford rent for a room with a leaking ceiling, isnât getting the respect in her job she truly deserves, and goes on the worst dates. She just wanted to skip to the good part of her life, but didnât realize what the consequences would be.I whole heartedly enjoyed this book. At times it made me laugh and at other times it tore my heart in two. I kept going back and forth wondering if the wishing machine was real or if the entire story was going to be based on a medical condition she has that causes her to lose her memory. Lucy gets to learn all about the good part of her life but she has to make a crucial decision, stay in the good part of her life and miss out on living the past 16 years of her life or go back to her old life and nothing would be guaranteed. This book was so well written I found myself staying up late because I couldnât put it down. I wanted to know all about âfutureâ Lucyâs life and what decision she was going to make. I think the main focus of this book is to enjoy the ride of life and to cherish your relationships with people because tomorrow is never promised.Favorite Quote- âBut maybe there arenât any shortcuts in life. Maybe you have to live it all because it makes you who you are.â

Title: Very different story
Review: This was a very interesting story line. Not your usual boy meets girl, but once I got into the whole thing I really enjoyed it I was surprised by the ending, but once I saw her reasoning I got it

Title: Feel Good Magical Realism!
Review: Rating: 4.5/5 StarsGenre: Magical Realism/Contemporary RomanceYou know the stereotypical struggling twenty-something year-old trying to find their place in the world. They have no money, meh roommates, a lousy low-level job, and the dating scene is abysmal. Lucy Young, the main character of The Good Part, has all of that, so when she comes across a wishing machine she wishes to "skip to the good part" of her life. Sure enough, the next day she wakes up 16-years later with a gorgeous husband, her dream job, and two adorable children. Everyone around her thinks she has amnesia, but she truly believes she has skipped ahead in her life. However, she also has missed out on a lot (some good, some heartbreaking) and even if she can learn how to live this life and fill in some of the gaps, does it really have the same meaning if you haven't gone through all those other experiences to get there?I am making the synopsis sound corny, and maybe in some ways it was, but it was really so cute!! I thoroughly enjoyed Lucy and I could definitely relate. Sometimes I find myself wishing away difficult phases, but would I actually want to skip them? No. I think ideally I would just have a crystal ball that tells me it will all turn out okay. But back to the book... Loved the characters in this one. Her kids were hilarious (her oldest was convinced she was abducted by aliens or came through a portal)! Her friends were awesome and supportive. Even her parents and co-workers were all interesting. And I loved seeing Lucy find herself and reconnect and rekindle the love with her husband she couldn't remember - it definitely had that rom-com movie feel where you probably know how it's going to turn out, but it just all makes you feel so good!

Title: Good Enough
Review: The novel was not the best I've ever read, nor was it the worst. The premise was interesting, though I felt disconnected from the MCs and their love story. I think it was because the love story was told in reverse, so Sam just showed up on the scene as a wonderful husband before the reader gets to meet and know him. All in all, I wouldn't not recommend this book. Just fell a bit flat for me.

Title: A Wonderful Story!
Review: I have loved everything Iâve read by this author and this book is no exception!Lucy is stuck in a seemingly dead-end job, sharing a flat with deadbeat flat mates and meeting deadbeat guys. When she stumbles upon a wishing machine, she wishes she could just fast forward to the point in her life whereas has it all figured out. The next she wakes up in a strange house, with a stranger sleeping beside her and two kids that need attention. As she looks at herself in the mirror, sheâs startled to see that sheâs aged 16 years! As she desperately tries to not only get back to her own life but also not screw up the one sheâs living now, she starts to wonder if she even really wants to return. Even though sheâs missed 16 years of her life, she finds that her new life is pretty awesome too.Iâve always been fascinated with movies that involve a time jump or time loop and this book did not disappoint! Itâs a wonderful and emotional story!

Review: Really enjoyed reading this book - funny, endearing - not sure if it ended how I wanted it to end, and it was a little rushed in the final couple of chapters (as others have said) but it was a great book, hard to put down and definitely worth a read!

Review: âIs that what life is - missing out in your twenties because you have no money, then missing out in your forties because you have no time?â"The Good Part" is about Lucy Young, she's 26 and everything is going wrong in her life right now. Ergo when she stumbles upon a wishing machine illuminated with the words "Make Your Wish", she wishes to skip to the good part in her life. Lucy wants to skip to the part in her life, when she knows exactly what she's doing. The next day, she wakes up with a mega headache and in a bedroom, that she has never seen before. How did she got here? Then she looks into the mirror and sees her forty-something face staring back at her.Whose children are these? Who is this Sam? And what did her mom mean, when she said "You've been trough worse."?This unique rom-com is an absolute emotional rollercoaster and it's about Lucy's journey of self-discovery.I don't like long-winded books with little suspense, action, or anything like that, so I already suspected that I wouldn't like this book. Unfortunately, I was proven right while reading this book. There are actually no proper thrill elements (in my opinion), but this book is more of a somewhat lengthy 'life lesson'.However, the fact that this book has a kind of 'moral' is not a problem, and (at least in my opinion) it should not have been changed, because that is the reason why I bought and read this book in the first place. Sometimes I found this book very boring and I struggled really hard to get through the pages, because I thought the many family moments were cute, but not at all exciting and therefore uninteresting for me.However, based on my review, you shouldn't make any hasty decisions and not buy this book, just because I didn't really enjoy it.If you don't mind detailed descriptions, adore all the sweet moments and would like to read a humorous, rather funny book next, then you have found it. You can really empathize with the characters, they are really likable and you get to know each one.Let's be honest: I felt really sorry for Lucy when another catastrophe kept sneaking into her life again and again.

Review: I absolutely loved, loved, loved this book. I started reading it at 9pm and read half of the book - it really hooked me in. I then couldn't wait the find out what happened at the end. (I actually read the final chapter) and I never do that in case I don't like the ending. But I had to know. I had only read one of Sophie Cousens books, but after reading this one, I know she will be one of my favourite authors. It deserves so many more stars than 5.
