Title: Perfect! A mix of funny, sweet, and heart warming!
Review: This is without a doubt the perfect FEEL GOOD book for the season! I absolutely loved it! And I can't wait to start the next book! Immediately you're transported into the bedlam that is families over thanksgiving and it was like I was there helping keep away the crazy sister in law out of the kitchen! (Oh my goodness...the shopping bag clothes! I have never laughed so hard! So funny!) and trying to placate your sister! And all those family foibles we all have. The pecans...well they obviously have to be the best - after all it's a secret family recipe! I can't say much without giving anything away, but Lauren as a main character was an absolute winner for me! She was hilarious! So many comical scenes and one liners thrown into the mix, that I just fell in love with her and wanted her to succeed! There's a few surprises along the way that made me smile and feel thankful that no matter family and home are all that matters over those kind of holidays, and well...if love can find a way....all the better! But will it? And Can Lauren actually pull of the challenge she's been given? I can't rave enough about this book! I almost finished it in one sitting and am so thankful I have the second one to start immediately or I'd be missing them! Perfect in every way!

Review: Lauren Hauser thought she was heading home for another ordinary Thanksgiving filled with her extraordinary family: a mother with a penchant for extreme holiday decor, a brother-in-law with questionable repair skills, a "New Age" sister-in-law, a teasing brother, a distracted father and a slightly dramatic sister with mad cooking skills. Little did she know, her matchmaking grandmother had other plans for her. Tasked with baking the family's sacred pecan pie, Lauren is ordered to a farm in the middle of nowhere to procure the most precious ingredient. A series of hilarious mishaps lands Lauren in the company of Jack, a stoic yet gorgeous businessman responsible for running her grandmother's retirement home. Well aware of the difficulty of long distance relationships, Lauren does her best to keep her heart safe from Jack, all the while juggling the antics of her colorful family. Ms. Henning spins a delightful tale of love, family and courage. Her sense of humor shines through beautifully! Oh, and don't be surprised if you crave pie after reading this fun novel!

Title: Heroine with juvenile internal monologue - Happy Thanksgiving!
Review: So when I realized that I only had one Thanksgiving novel on my Kindle, I googled Thanksgiving romance books and came up with several lists. This book was at the top or near the top of most of the lists I looked at. Oh brother. I read around eight books that I found in this subgenre and I have to say that this one at least tied to pretty much the worst on the list. Maybe my expectations were set too high by seeing it in the #1 spot on the GR Thanksgiving Romances Listopia. Guess I should have looked at the number of votes on this list.Based on the summary of the novel, I was expecting a family drama filled Thanksgiving celebration with a dose of hate to love romance. Not so much. What I ended up with was a rather juvenile heroine who complained about everything from creepy hugs from her brother-in-law to her sister-in-lawâs taste in eighties music (hint youâve just alienated any of your readers my age who loved the music they rocked through puberty) and donât even get me started on her complaints about her sister texting her while driving. Are you twelve? No youâre an adult. When you arrive at your destination, check your phone. The incessant running commentary in the heroineâs head by this point was beyond annoying to me and I still had a long ways to go with this one. Did I mention the lips? Lips rolling, lips pressing together, lips rolling again. It was never-ending.The book definitely needed a proofread and a couple of passages should have been rewritten.I enjoyed knowing the small towns and area where the story took place. Itâs very close to where I grew up, which also led to some problems too. Yes, she lives in the city but she grew up here. She should know that rural areas change more slowly. The rant on checks was a little odd as was the complaint about fireplaces. My parents burn their fireplace in the evening quite often from October to February since it gets cool at night during the winter. There doesnât have to be snow on the ground to run your fireplace, it just needs to be in the forties at night and our fireplace is burning. I do not take issue with the seventies weather that suddenly degraded to a sudden sleet storm. Yes, this definitely happens in the winter in Texas.So on to the pecans. There was only 1 bag left in the store at the specific pecan farm needed, and it wasnât the right size. She needed another one. The guy in line in front of her had 13 bags. So she flirts and asks him for one, then she gets rude about it, then she contemplates stealing it. Really? This is a Thanksgiving story and this woman is a responsible adult.I did actually finish the book but I wonât be reading it again next Thanksgiving and a word of warning if you do read it, keep in mind that its just a HFN ending and continues to the next book in the series apparently about baking a Christmas cake which I will not be reading.

Title: Lovely Story!
Review: Pecan pie is my favorite kind of pie so of course I had to read this story and it didn't disappoint. There were some funny moments because Lauren's family is full of some unique people. (I bet most of our families are.) Lauren gets into one predicament after another trying to get the right pecans for her grandmother's pie and it is entertaining and sweet when she interacts with Jack.This is fun story that's an easy read. It could be read in a weekend or a day and it puts a smile on your face when your finished. I loved Gina Henning's sweet, energetic prose and read this book within hours.The main character Lauren was funny and ditzy and I adored her fast-paced thoughts as she tried to negotiate her way around her family and the gorgeous stranger/pecan hoarder Jack.Lauren is adorable, Jack is hunky-tender (perfect hero material...YUMMY!!!) and Lauren's family's antics sent me into fits of laughter as each one revealed hysterical idiosyncrasies... and don't even get me started on the PDAs!!! ;-)A fabulous read that will whisk you away from reality and make you smile. So go on, treat yourself!
