Title: Buenazo!
Review: I like the stories along with the recipes, and I am learning that Peruvian recipes are not always exact ( un chorro, un pizco...) but think of the recipe as a guide, and with practice, you can add your own touch to each recipe. Like Mom used to make, each mother had her own version of a dish.

Title: Great recipes but no pictures
Review: My moms and I are fans of chef Gaston Acurio. This book has great recipes and stories, but the quality of the paper is cheap and it has zero pictures. No plates have been photographed, which was disappointing. / my mama y yo somos fans de Gastón Acurio. Las recetas e historias son muy buenas pero la calidad de las páginas del libro no es muy buena. No tiene ni una sola fotografía que es una lástima y una desilusión no tener nada que ver como referencia.

Title: Basic recipe, lack of basic information , measurements etc..
Review: There are some good basic recipes but the problem is that some of them are too basic. For example, I was looking at the Empanadas and the author say to heat up the oven for 15 minutes until it gets hot but it does not say to what temperature. On other will say put some of this ingredient but without measurement.So I think this book meant to be for beginners but the book lacks basic instructions and measurements. Also no pictures. I'm Peruvian so I know how these plates should look and taste but if you don't know them it may be bit harder to figure it out specially if you are a beginner.Also like someone else mentioned, there are not really 600 unique recipes but variations of the main recipe.I would buy a different book.

Review: This is EXACTLY the type of food Peruvians grow up with at home. Love the vegetarian alternatives presented alongside original recipes. However, keep in mind this is not a book for 'beginners' but the total opposite. The book has no photos, so you should know already what you are looking for. It does not give many technical details on temperature or quantities. But to me, this is exactly what makes the book 'real'. It is how most Peruvians cook in their own kitchen. No measuring cup, just 'al ojo' or thermometers.Have been using the book for a few months now, and it has replaced some of the other more fancy books I have. It also has giving me some variations to more traditional dishes (vegetarian Aji de Gallina?). Something I truly appreciate.
