Title: Photo Scanner with PictureStudio Review
Review: The Photo Scanner with PictureStudio excels at its primary task: quickly and efficiently digitizing boxes of old photos. With the auto feed function it can make quick work of a box of old photos. Depending on your needs it can scan at either 300dpi or 600dpi. Once scanned the software takes over, here is where some of the automatic features really speeds up the process, like the auto-deskewing, as I rarely placed the photo in perfectly straight. Auto color optimization and cropping also aided the process.I also experimented with some of the other settings, like colorizing black-and-white photos, and was impressed with how well the AI handled the process. While it's not perfect, the results were surprisingly good and definitely added a bit of life to some of my older images.Overall, I believe this scanner is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a fast and effective solution to digitize and organize their old photo albums. Itâs a great tool for both beginners and those with large collections, offering a solid combination of quality, convenience, and ease of use.

Title: Works well after practicing and learning what not to do!
Review: I really like this scanner! Iâve been using it for about two months without any issues. The scanner has a smooth design and takes up very little space next to my office desk. The instructions were clear and well-written, and my Windows system immediately detected the hardware, making the installation process quick and easy. One of the best features is the ability to scan, upload, and edit my old photos effortlessly. I had a lot of dated pictures, and the software handled them well, with the image quality being nearly perfect. In fact, some photos showed noticeable restoration improvements. As with any technology, the more you use it, the better you become at mastering its features, and this scanner is no exception!

Title: Using picture studio to save family photos
Review: Bought scanner to scan all my family photos. Itâs very easy to connect and use. Scanner works fine and scans photos really fast. Software is also easy to figure out. Once the photo is in their system there is a decent amount of editing to the pics. Iâm using it for some photos that have some moisture and bent ends. So far so good. This is a great tool to have and back up pics. The sharing on social is pretty cool

Title: Mid to low tier scanner, premium price, and non-functional software - AVOID
Review: Edited for fixed software!! See end of review!I was excited to get this. My wife has 6 large totes of photos inherited from her mother and I decided to digitize her photos. So I decided to try this Ambir photo scanner. And that was a huge mistake. For the good, this section will be short. The unit is fully assembled and ready to go and actually looks nice. For me the photo feeder works well. That completes the good section. The scanner board takes a USB mini connector which was typical on hardware about 10 years ago. The resolution on the scanner itself also shows its age at about 300 DPI. To be fair though, 300 DPI is probably sufficient for most people, but its certainly nothing great. The scanner is relatively slow to scan, but it does a decent job once you find software that will work. Included is a protector for your fragile photos when running through the scanner, its more for protection of your photos than to assist with the feeding. Now for why this is a one star product. The scanner itself is probably a 3 star scanner, it would be higher if the price wasn't so high, but the real disappointment here is the software. Other users mentioned how clunky and difficult it was to use, at least they got the software running. For me, the download and install went fine, but once I open the software and it detects the scanner, it pauses for about 5 seconds, I get an error message, and when I click OK on the message the software closes.I reached out to Ambir support and after a few days was told it was a problem with their licensing server. Apparently their software needs to check for a license code or an Ambir scanner to function, and since it can't do that, the software will not run. END OF STORY. So you probably would not be able to use the software offline. You do have the option to purchase different software, or there is a free program called NAPS32. Its written primarily as a document scanner, so each image will need to be cropped, but you have the option to save as an image to a location you specify on your computer. It adds an extra step, but once you get going it only adds a few extra seconds to crop and save each image as you go. Or you can scan first, then go back and crop and save later if you like. For the price they are asking for this, the software should work, it doesn't. And customer support has yet to resolve their issue. At the time this review was written, the software still fails and won't run at all.*****Review Edit Below *****The evening after I wrote this review, Ambir came out with a software patch that fixed the issue preventing the software from running. While Picture Studio is not the greatest software, it does work but with a couple of oddities. First, I cannot seem to turn off automatic feeding of photos. The second that it senses a photo it starts the feeding process and until you get the hang of it, your photos will be tough to line up straight. And as far as scanning goes, the finished scan does not appear to be as good as the NAPS32 software, and the processing time is longer. But with Picture Studio you do not have to crop your images and they do deposit into your pictures folder on your laptop or PC. The interface is a little clunky and will be learning process and there are some important things missing, like changing the photo save location. You can save to OneDrive or some other cloud locations, but it did not seem to be an option to save to a portable hard drive or USB stick.I did up my rating to 2 stars. It makes me a little nervous knowing the software is calling home so I certainly won't be entering any login credentials into it for my digital accounts. The scanner does work, I just wish it worked like a scanner in this price range should work, with software that is a bit more friendly to use.

The PictureStudio photo scanner is an absolute game-changer! I was able to digitize hundreds of old family photos with exceptional ease and speed. The quality of the scans is outstanding â every detail, color, and nuance is captured beautifully. The software is user-friendly (even for someone not tech-savvy) and it offers plenty of options for editing and enhancing photos. I also love the fact that it handles different photo sizes without any issues. If youâre looking to preserve your family pictures with top-notch quality- at a good price- this scanner is a must-have. Highly recommend!
