Title: heart warming story
Review: I was skeptical at first. After reading it, I loved the way the characters in the story behaved. Nothing mystical, but family values and old fashioned joy came through. Reminds me of my mother's story of her most memorable Christmas. Fits nicely with my other hundred Christmas picture books

Title: Darling story!
Review: We live in Dolly Parton country so the kids were comparing this story that the author shares of her own life with that of "Mrs. Dolly." Fantastic read, wonderful lessons. Beautifully written and illustrated.

Title: An underrated Christmas classic
Review: I used to borrow this picture book from the local library every Christmas but the pandemic limited library service to curbside. So I decided to buy it this year and at 7.99 (paperback) it's worth every penny. The art and story have that old fashioned, lyrical quality that you expect from traditional picture book. This is a fleshed out Christmas story with illustration, not a "slice of life" presentation with cute rhyming scheme or gimmick art you see in current picture books in the market. If you have a tradition of reading short Christmas stories like How the Grinch Stole Christmas and the Gift of Magi at the end of the year for that holiday experience, you should give this book a try. The plot is simple but elegant and Barbara Cooney's artwork is just sublime. It has good artistic and aesthetic value. It might be long for some younger readers but elementary students who can handle longer PBs (Patricia Polacco) may enjoy it.

Title: I really loved this story
Review: I really loved this story. The pictures are beautiful and the mom's devotion was so moving. The only part that I raised an eyebrow to was when they mentioned St. Nicholas handing out willow switches to children who "misbehaved." It also doesn't really have a traditional Santa so it may have your children asking what happened to Santa. It's certainly a worthwhile story to own and read but just be prepared for questions related to these two topics when you read it.

Title: BEST Christmas Story
Review: I love this book and read it every year on Christmas Eve to my children even though they are all now in their 20's. It is tradition now and the story makes me cry even though I know it is a happy ending. I also read it to my elementary age Sunday School class this year.
