Title: I love this book
Review: I love this book! My favorite travel book thus far. My husband and I are planning a big travel trip and this book clued us into places and events I'm thrilled to experience. It's very colorful, fun, and easy to read. I'm searching for another one like this that is more tailored to Latin America.

Title: The ultimate bucket list
Review: This book should be a large hardcover edition because it would be the ultimate coffee table book. The photography is National Geographic quality and the layout and presentation are so beautiful, it makes the soft cover an insult to the content. This is the kind of book you keep on a table and savor over time. In other words, a keeper.Moving on, the book is presented as a calendar with a special location/event to see on each day of the year based upon the best day of the year to see said location. It's just amazing. I'm happy to say that I actually have done a few of the selections in the book (Stonehenge, the Kalalau Trail hike, and marched in costume in the NYC Halloween Parade) (I've also been to the North Shore of Hawaii to view the waves as opposed to riding them and have gotten close to Polar Bears, not in Canada but at the Central Park Zoo and that's as close as I ever want or need to be to Polar Bears, or North Shore waves, for that matter). There are things I really want to do now. The Fete du Citron on the French Riviera and snorkeling with humpbacks in Tonga are at the top of the list. And there are also some fascinating things on the calendar I'd never ever EVER want to do. The snake festival in Abruzzo, Italy, for example, is a definite NO in capital letters.I haven't been able to stop leafing through this, looking up meaningful dates in my life and the things that should be done on each of those days, imaging myself in different places in the world, marking my own personal anniversaries. This is a great gift for a middle grader filled with the potential to create dreams as well as opening up the mind to the larger, intensely beautiful, interesting world we live in. I wish I had had this book when I was a youngster. The Lonely Planet folks know what they're doing (even if they did omit the challenge of the Road the Hana on Maui... but I can let that slide since I've done it a couple of times already). Worth every penny and more.Extreme recommend.

Title: I got it for the photography alone, and I wasn't disappointed
Review: If I win the lottery tomorrow, I might flip through this book a bit more seriously. I might even find a place or two to visit. In reality, though, I'll never see 99% of the places and events in this book.It doesn't matter. The photography, as expected, is beautiful. A great many of the events are things I've never heard of, in places all around the world. It's intriguing to pick up the book and open to a random page, or to today, and see a remote place or my own backyard (right now--a great time to visit the Everglades). If I leave this book on the coffee table, guests pick it up to see what's happening on their birthday or anniversary. It has started some interesting conversations.A lot of these events and places may be challenging or impossible for folks with physical challenges. Not everyone can bike or dive or climb. I wouldn't give the book as a gift to someone who might find those things frustrating. But with 365 things scattered all over the world, this isn't a practical travel itinerary. No one will "Go music mad at South by Southwest" in Texas on March 13th, "Raise a glass at Starkbierzeit" in Munich on the 14th, and "Sail down the Amazon" in Brazil on the 15th. (Though if you do, and if your private jet has room for one more, please take me.)The book would also be a good gift for older kids, though they might suddenly want to go "Track mountain gorillas" in Uganda, as they look into the eyes of what seems to be a beautiful silverback, or "Run down a hill after a cheese" in Gloucestershire, or "Get soaked at Songkran" in the world's biggest water fight, in Thailand. The index offers a way to search by location, so if you want to see what's happening near you there's an easy way to do it.This book could be better if it were larger with larger photographs, and had a photo for every day/event. But that would probably make the book heavy and difficult to handle, and unreasonably expensive. This is not a useful book for planning a real trip. But it is interesting for the armchair traveler to wander through.

Review: Who knew there is so much to do and see in the world? Well, probably everyone, but this book will introduce you to places and activities and festivals you never knew existed. If you are dying of wanderlust or simply find the world a fascinating place, this is the book for you. It does not have information on hotels or restaurants - it is a simple but beautiful collection of where to be on every day of the year. The pictures are stunning and if you love travelling as much as I do, this book may even inspire you for your next trip.

Review: I'm expecting it to be larger in size, like a big hardcover book, but silly me for not reading the description enough. Not complaining tho! I bought this because of its contents! It is a beautiful book with lots of photographs and informations. It is compiled or written based on days, so it starts of with Jan 1st and ending with Dec 31st. Each day has its own unique or interesting places to visit. Don't expect the details/information to be in-depth, its just tells you what the date is, what the activity/events, where it is, why it is best at that date, a short description and a large photo.I would recommend this to anyone who loves travel. This also would be a great idea for a gift/present!
