Title: Incredible system
Review: Convenience, portability, versatility, effectiveness, it is an incredible all in one sharpening system. I am fairly new to sharpening, but this makes it easy. Contained in this ingenious 7x1.5â device is a coarse plate, fine plate, strop, ceramic honing rod, a smaller ceramic rod for serrations, fish hook groove, and an integrated wrench for disassembling your arrowheads. They thought of everything. If you lift up one of the plates there is a small storage compartment where you can keep a ferro rod, oil, green compound, small cloth, whatever you want. I tried it out on a cheap dullish Balisong that Iâve had forever. Itâs never been this sharp. Just remember, if youâre still not getting the edge you want, just keep at it. After 50 strokes on each side of the blade with the fine plate, honing rod and strop, the blade was quite sharp, but still not razor sharp. So another 50 strokes on each side with the rod and the strop and it was shaving with ease. Iâve discovered that real sharpening is almost therapeutic, and incredibly satisfying to get that keen edge on a blade. I have a whole pile of knives ready to go, and hairless patches on my arms and legs. It would be nice if there was something more to hold onto while sharpening, perhaps a handle that folded over and enclosed it like a balisong or telescoped out of it, but I would not want to sacrifice its compact size. Still a 5 star product that works like a charm.UPDATE 11/20/24: So this has been my primary sharpening system for 10 months now and I still love it. I have not yet spent hundred of dollars on a set of water stones or a premium bench top sharpener, and havenât felt the need to. I recently purchased the Sharpal Transforod to see how it compared. The Sharpal has the advantage of using better quality abrasives and being able to adjust the angle guides with the twist of a knob, but it has two fatal flaws IMO. One is the cylinder interfering with my ability to reach the entire cutting edge of most of my blades. The other is the inability to sharpen both sides of the blade without turning the sharpener around, switching hands, or switching to the under side of the sharpener where I cannot see what Iâm doing. For these reasons the Worksharp is still my preferred system. Sharpening on it is faster, easier and more accurate. I am hoping, however, that they release an upgraded version (letâs call it the Ultimate Guided Field Sharpener) in the near future with adjustable or removable angle guides. 20 degrees is a great all around sharpening angle, plenty sharp to shave hair, but I find myself wanting to go shallower or steeper for some knives. Also, not all knives come from the factory sharpened at 20 degrees, and sharpening them on this device necessitates reprofiling them. Worksharpâs Benchstone has removable angle guides that can be switched out for 15,17 and 25 degrees and it would be great if the Guided Field Sharpener had the same capability. Oh yeah, and some kind of handle would be nice too.

Title: Perfect Sharpening Tool
Review: I was familiar with this Worksharp sharpener before I bought itâ¦, a guy at work had this one as well as a larger non portable set (also made by Worksharp). They were both awesome and I used them all the time, but when he left he took them with him.I bought this portable mini one mainly to keep in my backpack to touch up my hunting knife and other tools in the field. It is small and light enough that it is great for a backpack. It even has a fishhook sharpener and a broadhead wrench included, so it basically designed for outdoorsmen. The diamond plate material that Worksharp uses for these is great, faster and easier than a traditional whetstone, and will last much longer. They are easy to clean if they get filled with metal dust, and Iâm pretty sure if you were ever to wear one out you can buy a replacement.I am no stranger to sharpening, but if you are new to it, this tool has a handy angle guide built into it that keeps the correct profile. One word of caution, the courser grit is very aggressive. Unless you have a damaged or chipped blade, I would recommend starting with the finer diamond plate, then progressing to the ceramic rod, then the leather strop if desired. To test mine out, I sharpened a small skinning knife (which was pretty dull), two small kitchen knives and a decent-sized chef knife. Starting on the fine diamond with 15-20 strokes and then going to ceramic and leather, I was able to get all four knives to shave hair in just a few minutes. The only small drawback about this sharpener is that, since it is small and portable, itâs a bit tricky to do a larger knife. I was able to do the chef knife just fine, but a larger plate would be easier. I will very likely be getting the full-sized non portable set to keep at home just to have it, but itâs really not necessary at allâ¦itâs mainly just because Worksharp makes awesome stuff and I want to have both!Long story short, this thing is awesome. Whether your experienced with sharpening or not, this is a great tool that is easy to use and does the job. It is perfect for hunters, anglers or campersâ¦but would be great for anyone to have in their kitchen drawer at home as well. You wonât be disappointed!

Review: Works great. I have all kinds of sharpeners, but this one is great to take along just to hone up the edge. Did a couple small kitchen knives, shaving sharp in under 10 minutes. Better value than the Benchmade.
