Make sure to wear ApneaShield correctly, ensuring that the device is fitted snugly against your body without impeding your breathing or movement. Start sleeping on your side and stay on your side until you fall asleep.ApneaShield will prompt you to switch to your side if you roll onto your back while asleep. If you need to switch sides during the night, try to do so by slightly lifting your body using the elbow of the side you are switching to.Be consistent and use ApneaShield every night for best results. Be patient: It may take some time for your body to adjust to ApneaShield.

Remember, keeping your sleep on your side is the key to fighting snoring and promoting better breathing. While it may be challenging to break old habits and maintain this position, ApneaShield can help you get there with time and patience. Sweet dreams!

Adjusting to ApneaShield

Tips for Comfortable Use

If you feel uncomfortable, try loosening the waistband to allow a gap that is two fingers wide. This can help reduce pressure on the body, promoting a more comfortable experience.Remember to keep the device snug but not too tight. With time, you may be able to gradually tighten the waistband for a better fit.

Using a Tennis Ball as an Alternative to the ApneaShield Ball

If you find the ApneaShield Ball too hard or heavy, replace it with a tennis ball for two weeks.Remember that the effectiveness may be impacted when using tennis balls. After two weeks, switch back to the ApneaShield Ball to see if you notice any changes in comfort and effectiveness. If you feel you need more time to get used to the ApneaShield Ball, repeat the process with the tennis ball for another week or two.

Title: Expensive, but it works!
Review: For those reviewers who found that this didn't work well: perhaps your mattress is too soft, so that the ball sank in and wasn't uncomfortable enough to keep you on your side. Lose the mattress topper, or get a firm one. This thing WORKS. Even if you succeed in rolling onto your back and getting in a couple of snores, the discomfort will catch up to you pretty quickly on a moderately firm mattress (and yes, I did this experiment myself). It's hard to believe I'd write such a positive review for a product that has made me so miserably uncomfortable and changed a deeply engrained, lifetime habit and preference - starting on night one. But apnea is deadly, and it turns out that I want to live to a healthy old age slightly more than I want to sleep on my back. The Snore Lab app told me that I snore like a wild boar. A sleep study told me that I stop breathing 100 times per night, nearly always when I'm on my back. So it was CPAP or side sleeping. This device is cheaper than CPAP, so I tried it first. It's been a month, and the change is profound. Yes, my neck, back, and hips are complaining a lot, since they are not used to this position, but it's getting better and I'm tinkering with pillows. So if you're uncomfortable initially, well, yeah, you're supposed to be! It hurts to roll onto a big hard ball! If you need more discomfort, there's room for an additional tennis ball in there with the cork ball. I will say that the straps are intended for a bigger person than I am, and I need to tighten them regularly, as they tend to slip. Also, the shoulder/over the head part is too loose, so I do have a few problems with stability. But it is far more secure, and comfortable to wear, when snug than I imagined. This thing is totally worthwhile!

Title: A Game Changer!
Review: I’ve been looking for a solution to keep me sleeping on my side. Having previously tried air backpacks with minimal success, I was pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of this. Unlike the air backpack, which I could still manage to sleep on my back with, the ApneaShield's unique design ensures that the ball stays perfectly in place on my back. This is also really breathable. With the air backpack, I often found myself waking up feeling overheated and uncomfortable. The ApneaShield's material allows for excellent air flow. It's a significant upgrade in terms of comfort and has made a world of difference in my quality of sleep. It's also very comfortable and barely noticeable while I'm sleeping on my side.I also no longer require a CPAP machine because of this, so long as I can stay on my side overnight. This has been a game-changer for me. It outperforms previous solutions I've tried and delivers on its promises of comfort, breathability, and effectiveness. If you're looking for a reliable way to ensure you stay sleeping on your side and want to improve your overall sleep quality, I highly recommend giving this a try.

Title: Keeps me off my back, but the ball is uncomfortable
Review: Seems to work great, had it about a week. The ball wakes me up a bit when I roll onto it and it hurts my back - I suppose this is part of the design, it's supposed to be uncomfortable so you move but damn. Thinking about switching out the ball for a tennis ball. The harness thing itself is comfortable, adjustable, and holds the ball in place. I'd recommend it! Just wish I could be more comfortable wearing it when I sleep.

Title: This stopped my snoring!
Review: I purchased the Apnea Shield device because my snoring was disturbing my wife's sleeping. I thought maybe this device would help me to snore less. I bought it about 2 weeks ago. And since then I have not snored at all, at least not so that my wife noticed it.I should say that the ball that comes with the backpack device is quite hard quite large, so I really can't sleep on my back at all while wearing the device. It would be very painful. Since I have been sleeping on my side, my snoring has completely stopped. So problem solved.I've also gotten used to the feeling of the ball being at my side and it doesn't bother me one bit. It was either this or a CPAP machine, and I really did not use CPAP machine. So I'm very glad that this worked. I highly recommend it to anyone who is snoring from sleeping on their back, because it works. The fit is OK for me. I have a 44 inch chest and it is big enough for me. The straps are adjustable so it should fit a wide range of people.

Title: LIkely effective but uncomfortable to wear
Review: This product seems well made, and I think this would be effective in keeping you from sleeping on your back. However, I found it uncomfortable, even when using a softer tennis ball and even while lying on my side. Everyone's body is different, and you may find this not to be an issue. The product also seems expensive for what it is. At a lower price point I might have just kept it and seen if I could adapt.

Title: It's working!!!
Review: This is a great product! CPAP didn't work for me, and it was suggested for me to go on oxygen during the night. After much research, I came across this product. I have used it several nights. I am not waking up tired and not feeling a need to nap half the day. It's amazing. I will say that I started out with a ball in the back of a leisure bra (desperate until this product came) and it was mighty uncomfortable, but it also worked! I think mine needs to be slightly tighter, so I will work on that.

Title: Roller ball in back causes pain
Review: The product is well constructed and designed for a person who needs to transition from back to side sleeping. I bought it for my husband and we both tried it out as a test. The ball contained in the back nettling pouch of the harness is supposed to alert you when you roll onto your back. It goes beyond alerting and ends up causing pain. Tennis balls would have worked fine.

Title: Replaced the "wood" ball with tennis ball
Review: Of all the devices I've tried after being diagnosed with mild sleep apnea (just below the threshold to qualify for insurance-covered CPAP—which is fine), this has been the best so far. As others have noted, the 'wood ball' is very hard and can be quite painful, but switching to a tennis ball solved the issue. It fits snugly enough that I was initially concerned about heat, but the large mesh areas keep things cool. I found that it shifts around a bit during the night, but never enough for the ball to slip out from behind your back.

Review: It’s very comfortable and works well. I did switch to a tennis ball, it makes more sense for a smaller back. Looks a bit weird on a woman lol.

Review: My husband moves onto his back throughout the night and snores loudly and also stops breathing. This is an expensive contraption but it stops him rolling on his back which stops the snoring, keeps him breathing and means I sleep. Good all round.

Review: It is all about a veste with a ball. A hard one! The ball. It can break your bones if you are not conscious about it when you sleep.Way to expensive for what it is and it’s purpose. I would rather send it back but I paid already extra 10 € for taxes oversiees. They ask me to send a pic from the receipt and I will have my money back but I didn’t know they offer this service and I’ve thrown it away. What can I say? Did I mention it is expensive?🥲

Review: I was pleasantly surprised that this device was comfortable to wear while sleeping, breathable, and secures the large cork ball well enough to prevent me from rolling onto my back in my sleep. It's made a big difference to my sleep quality (I get apnea in the supine position).

Review: I already wear a snoring device, which was expensive, I have been using it for years and it is effective, mostly. When I am on my back, even with my lower jaw extended, I start to snore. So, I ordered this product. Simply put, I no longer sleep on my back, therefore no longer disturb my wife, job done. It is comfortable to wear, even next to the skin and at £80 it may seem expensive, but I don’t think so. Well worth it to not disturb my loved one and force her into a spare room. Well done the designers, well done.
