Title: Great Book and Ideal for the Kindle for iPhone Format
Review: Bill Strickland's Make the Impossible Possible is not your typical inspirational book. Strickland's story of his journey from the Pittsburgh ghetto to being the young (and ongoing for years and years) CEO of an arts/career training institution in his old neighborhood is inspirational; however, the book is really a celebration of the human spirit, and is filled with the message that respect can and will lead to success. Our city selected Make the Impossible Possible as our One Book, One Community read for 2010-2011, and I am certainly glad that we did. Since so many of the reviews at Amazon.com focus on the book itself and do such a fine job of detailing the book's merits, I will focus on the Kindle for iPhone version which I purchased. This book is short enough that the iPhone format works fine. Longer books seem to get pretty tedious, because there is so little text per "page." The downloading process went seamlessly, too, perhaps in part because the file is fairly small. I will admit that it would be nice to have the hardcover edition of the book to have Mr. Strickland sign when he speaks in our town, but the iPhone Kindle edition is convenient to use and easier to carry around and have available anytime there are a few quiet minutes for reading. An excellent account of an amazing success story in an unlikely place, and a highly recommended format.

Title: Wise, thoughtful, practical guide to living one's vision
Review: This is a much needed book, built on hope. Strickland didn't come to his vision without the bumps and stretch marks of growing up in poverty. But he had the curiosity and courage to keep exploring his possibilities, starting from that magic moment when he was drawn to an art classroom and witnessed the teacher sculpting a pot on a wheel as jazz played in the background. He has paid attention throughout his life to whatever ignited a spark, whether growing and selling or his to flying a commercial jet. In this way, we as readers learn to pay attention to our dreams and hopes for a better world for ourselves and those whose lives we affect. Moreover, we can nurture dreams in our own backyard, as Strickland has done with the Manchester Bidwell school, offering opportunities for people through the arts and practical training who they are and what their mission is.

Title: Astonishing Life - Top 3 All-Time Book For Me
Review: If you ever wondered exactly how this world worked, and how you could harness your own thoughts to produce astonishing results...and you were looking for one book to give you a blueprint...this would be the book to read. No kidding.Bill Strickland has lead an astonishing life by following his bliss (as Joeseph Campbell would say). If you are interested in the Law of Attraction information and how to use your focused mind to deliberately create a life of great meaning and effect, you could do no better than to read this book. It is both a great life story...and a how-to guide on how to focus on the things that inspire you to create what Bill calls "gateways" in which the life that you dream about shows up. I have actually never read a better more clearly described book on how to tune your thoughts toward that which you want and then manifest the most outrageous desires...and I've read 'em all. There is great value in reading this information as a first-person description, rather than a third-person set of techniques.It may not translate into a life transformation for you. But it will certainly give you all the evidence you need that learning how to focus on your thoughts and passions is the route to the best life you can imagine.The only thing that I found missing from the book was an honest description of Bill's day-to-day thinking and how he managed his doubts and fears. For example, Bill had a big drinking problem that produced pancreatitis, and he describes how near-failures along the way drove him to the bottle. So I think there is probably a very interesting story, if he is fully conscious of how he did it, in how he managed to overcome these thoughts and tune his mind back toward his dreams. From a law of attraction perspective, he had to do this work before his miracles showed up. This makes Bill's story all the more remarkable,because he definitely faced down the same kind of crushing doubts (in addition to crushing poverty) that everyone on this planet faces at one point or another. Not to make too much of this, but this struggle is kind of laced throughout the book and never addressed directly. It's the only thing missing from an otherwise astounding book.What he does address very directly is how he focuses himself on the things that inspire him and give him meaning and juice...and how this focus of thought causes people and events and coincidences to align in his favor to produce outrageous results. And he also takes great pains to structure the book in such a way that you can use his habits of thought while also understanding the hows and whys that make it work.This chap received a MacArthur Foundation genius award, and there is genius laced throughout most of the pages of this book. Conversations with God, book 1, Ask and It is Given, and this book...they are my top 3 books on how to understand living in this world as a sentient being. Bill Strickland is in some pretty heady company here.

Title: Inspirational Read
Review: A useful book for anyone feeling as though it is impossible to make it in a world consumed by greed and poverty. Strickland illustrates the ideal that everyone deserves a shot at what they dream of, at outlines how it is actually much more achievable than we think. All in all, a good read for anyone interested in innovating today's society.

Review: This is a story of how one man - Bill Strickland - had HIS life changed by a teacher who saw some potential in him and nurtured and supported him to become a world class ceramic artist, and who then set up re-training schools to provide steel workers who had lost their jobs a remarkable environment in which to retrain themselves into chefs, recording engineers, and other useful professions. A truly remarkable person! One of the most enthralling, touching stories I have ever read.
