The term 'convenience product' used to mean something that was highly processed and likely contained preservatives and fake flavor enhancers. But with the move toward clean eating, there are now great convenience products for Whole30-ers, such as the frozen riced cauliflower and sweet potato that serves as the base of the pilaf that accompanies these ribs. Just a few stir-ins—chopped parsley, capers, olive oil, and lemon—give this pure product great flavor.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons dried sage2 tablespoons dried oregano2 teaspoons garlic powder1 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon coarse black pepper8 to 12 bone-in beef short ribs (3 to 4 pounds)3 medium carrots, peeled and sliced diagonally 1⁄2 inch thick
2 medium yellow onions, coarsely chopped4 cloves garlic, crushed1 cup Whole30-compliant tomato juice1 package (12 ounces) frozen riced cauliflower and sweet potatoGrated zest and juice of 1 lemon1⁄4 cup chopped fresh parsley2 teaspoons Whole30-compliant capers, drained2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oilFresh thyme sprigs
Directions
1. In a small bowl, combine the sage, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Rub the ribs with the spice mixture. Place the carrots, onions, garlic, and tomato juice in a 6-quart slow cooker. Add the ribs.
2. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours. Use a slot- ted spoon to transfer the beef and vegetables to a platter; cover to keep warm.
3. Transfer the cooking liquid to a medium saucepan. Skim the fat. Bring the sauce to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat and simmer until reduced by half, about 10 minutes.
4. Meanwhile, for the pilaf, prepare the riced cauliflower and sweet potatoes according to the package directions. Stir in the lemon zest and juice, parsley, capers, and olive oil.
5. Drizzle the sauce over the ribs and vegetables and top with fresh thyme. Serve on top of the pilaf.
Instant Pot Variation
Follow the directions of the first two steps using a 6-quart Instant Pot, but leave out the carrots. Lock the lid in place. Select Manual and cook on high pressure for 50 minutes. Use natural release for 5 minutes, then quick release. Remove the ribs from the pot. Add the carrots to the pot. Select Sauté and adjust to Medium.
Simmer until the liquid is reduced by half and the carrots are tender, about 10 minutes. Continue with the last three steps.

Title: Helpful for Whole30
Review: This was really helpful for my Whole30 and reintroduction phase. I did whole30 while making 100% of meals for myself, my toddler, and husband. It's such a relief to get dinner in the crockpot in the AM. The instant pot meals were pretty good, too, but maybe a little low on flavor. As you can imagine, the book is heavy on the soups/chilis. Most were super quick and easy. Often browning the meat in a saucepan is the only prep if prep is required. That said, they were just adequate on the taste (this could be in part that I'm coming from being a vegetarian). By the end of my whole30, I found I needed to avoid tomatoes, so a lot of the recipes in this book (including an amazing smoky butternut squash chili) didn't work for me any more. All in all, I recommend it if you're busy and need some guaranteed compliant crockpot recipes on hand.

Title: So far so good ð
Review: So far we have tried a few recipes and they are tasty and not boring. If you are used to eating traditional junky or Old Style cream of chicken/mushroom type foods and are trying to live cleaner but have a family like mine that is not interested in switching, this is a good transition. Iâve been able to eliminate a few things in the Recipes for the younger kids as we transition to more vegetables but itâs pretty easy to follow! I must say it aims more to adult taste buds but that seems normal when trying to eat healthy anyway

Title: Be sure to have a Whole30 approved stocked pantry first.
Review: This is a great cookbook. You want to have your basic Whole30 compliant pantry items mostly purchased before you buy this book though. A large portion of the recipes don't need to cook for as long as an average work day is so starting your Crock Pot before work may not work for a lot of them. There are plenty of good things to make on the weekends though while you are prepping lunches or breakfasts for the week. If you are an Instant Pot user, there are a decent number of recipes in here for you too. Almost every recipe has a photo to go along with it too.

Title: AWESOME Cookbook!
Review: I love this cookbook. In fact, it inspired me to purchase an Instant Pot for the recipes in the back. The meals are so delicious, and the recipes are easy to follow. Usually, I make a few of the recipes in a cookbook and then place the book on my shelf and forget about it. Not this one. This one stays on my counter. LOVE IT 🙂

Title: On the fence
Review: I'm almost ready to return this but due to the $5.99 return fee, I'm on the fence. I have her other cookbooks and have done two Whole30s. I think I'm ready for a change with the format of her cookbooks. The font is a little too small, the ingredient lists are a little too long and it's so unnecessary to say "Whole30-compliant [insert food here]." It makes the ingredient lists seem longer than they have to be and we know, everything needs to be compliant! Our family also doesn't really like Ribs or Roasts so that entire section won't be used. And so many recipes with chicken thighs...not my favorite part of the bird. I know I can sub out, but I just like more options. So many recipes don't even really sound that good, and as I was flipping through came across one recipe that said to brown whatever on the stove first or after slow cooking transfer to a 13x9 dish to broil for 5 minutes. If I'm using a slow cooker or pressure cooker, I'm not going to use a stove too (not to mention that so many slow cookers and pressure cookers have a brown feature so browning on a stove isn't even necessary). These two appliances are supposed to make things easier but this cookbook doesn't really seem to embrace that. I feel like the author tried to force this cookbook to work with a slow cooker/pressure cooker because they are the rave right now, but didn't really write recipes that are easy/quick to prepare. It's going back.

Review: I love this book. Nothing I make out it is a disappointment. Everything Iâve made is full of flavour. Itâs my go to slow cooker recipe book and is brilliant for one pot meals when time is short.Particular favourites are the beef short ribs with cauliflower pilaf, the smoky bacon & beef chilli and the bbq chicken.
