Title: All in one - easy, affordable, done...
Review: I spent some time researching printers that were budget friendly, but still had everything I needed and found this little guy at the top of the list. I compared this model to 6 other printers, at this price point, and found this one to have the best ratings in all areas (with the most features at this price point). This brand also had the least amount of problems and maintenance issues. This All-in-one is everything I was looking for and more. I specifically wanted the auto document loader, but not the maintenance issues that come with other brands that have this option and this little guy fit the bill. It is wireless, has duplex printing, great print quality (color/resolution), high resolution scans, and copies and prints pretty fast compared to my previous printer. The setup was quick, easy and simple. I added the printer on two different PC's and phones in minutes. It arrived well packed and on time without any issues. For anyone looking for a printer, copy, scanner that does not break the bank...this one in my opinion, is the best at this budget friendly price. BTW ink refills for this machine are also affordable for an inkjet printer (and compared to other inkjet printers) and even more affordable if you want to sign up for Brother's "refresh." I am very happy with my purchase and definitely recommend the Brother brand and this MFC-J1010DW model.

Title: Easy set-up; compact; 2-sided printing; ink subscription worth trying for some
Review: I followed the written instructions, and set-up went very smoothly. I added apps to our phones, and now we can print documents (and photos) quickly from them. Even with the copy receiver extended, it's a LOT more compact than our old HP. The paper tray is enclosed too, so won't get so dusty. The 2-sided printing is a bit different, but it worked after a false start. I printed 100 pages our first day (mostly on draft), and still have over half the black starter cartridge left. It only pulled a couple extra sheets of paper on a long job (I fanned paper a lot). It prints fast on b&w draft; and, as expected, really slow on printing photos (which are edge-to-edge). It's also MUCH quieter than our HP was. I can't attest to the machine's longevity yet. I'm trying the Brother ink Refresh subscription at least through the 2-month free trial (it's actually a print-per-page service). So far it's been seamless, and they already have ink cartridges coming (4 business days including ship and deliver dates). Monitoring page usage is easy but does require an account log-in. Unused pages roll-over to a max of 2-times your plan amount (so 80 pages for the $2.50/month rate). An IMPORTANT thing to understand is that these cartridges stop working when you drop the subscription, so you'll need to order "normal" cartridges first. But at $30/year it feels worth it since 4 regular sized cartridges are $40. And I've learned the hard way, ink dries out, so it's not just how many pages you print. I'm not keen on subscription services, but Brother has made one for low-use folks like us. However, it may not work for boom-and-bust print-job styles.

Title: Good printer, sucks ink
Review: I do like Brother printers, and this one is high on the list. Easy to set up (I added a wifi range extender to give uninterrupted wifi to my phone) easy to understand. I am a HEAVY printer for just a few weeks of a year. This machine ran non stop for a few hours, and did get to the "grey" phase of print quality that all Brother mfc machines seem to get. I may be able to adjust density/quality if I use a pc. I was able to make decent additional copies using the copy function and increasing density. But that causes increased ink use. I went through the included black cartridge AND an "XL" black cartridge. The XL cartridges only allow 250 pages - not as XL as I need. While I am intrigued by the auto refill option offered by Brother, I am unsure as to which level I should get. It will automatically increase your level based on what you print, but won't automatically reduce that level based on reduced use. And it is a bit intrusive, knowing a company can see how much I print. That option can be turned off in the mobile connect app though. The machine CAN easily 2 sided print, but in order to do 2 sided copying, you either need to put each side on the glass, or run the machine as 1 side to 2 side. The ADF is very good using 24lb paper, with printing being speedy. The lower tray can barely hold 150 sheets, fewer means no jams.I haven't scanned yet, but the machine apparently can scan direct to a file without futzing with another program. We use our mfc-j6920dw for faxing. But the color touchscreen and nice buttons on the 1010 would make faxing a breeze. The machine has a small footprint and runs quietly. The wireless functions are good with the wifi extender, and the mobile app is very nice with my S24+ phone. I can print right from my Google Drive, very handy for me. Ink prices vary, but the LC401 cartridges are available in plenty. I got 5 xl black cartridges for under $40, a nice deal. I'm still on the "starter" color cartridges. For the price, this machine is quite good.

Title: The Cadillac of home printers.
Review: My first Brother product ever and I love it. I read where some old timers on Reddit were going on and on about their hastle-free experiences with their Brother printers and decided it was time to upgrade. Am I glad I did. This printer was so easy to set up for use. I had wifi printing going from about 6 different laptops, Ipads, Iphones, and Macbooks in less than 20 minutes it was so easy. It is compatible with every one of the devices. Sending pages to print over wifi is lightening fast, so fast it is shocking how soon the first page is printing after hitting send. The print quality is pretty good for around-the-house office type documentation or picture processing. The iphone app lets you see how much ink is remaining. The company lets you order ink through the app. The prices for the ink cartridges are better through the app than on Amazon. All in all, this was a no-brainer. I am a Brother convert. Need a new printer? Get a Brother - I sound just like those old timers but, they were right. Best money I have ever spent on a copier/printer/scanner. This one does it all. Brother does it right!
