"If Austin has forgotten what love is, maybe Clay can show him the way."
Happy-go-lucky Clay keeps busy with hookups at the local bar after working hard at the ranch. Those hookups used to be fun, but now they leave him empty.
Austin is reeling after a difficult divorce. His wife took everything, including full custody of his daughter, Bea, who is only nine.
Austin doesn’t know where his life is headed, but at least he’s got a roof over his head, and a new job as accountant at Farthingdale Ranch.
The job is exactly the kind of work he loves. The only problem is he’s distracted by Clay, who is gay. Austin is straight. There’s no way this can work.
A gay m/m cowboy romance with age gap, hurt/comfort, opposites attract, single dad, out for you, midnight rendezvous, friendship between men. A little sweet, a little steamy, with a guaranteed HEA.

Title: Unexpected
Review: Austinâs life is turned upside down when his wife divorces him. But the job of ranch accountant seems to be a good way to get a fresh start. Clayâs relaxed and friendly attitude is just what Austin needs. I like the sweet and easy feel of this story. It is low angst but full of feelings. #CMCon25

Title: A True Slow Burn
Review: Well, this was lovely. Itâs been an exhausting week. Every time I got into the book, work was either calling me away or sleep was. However, being able to lose myself in a truly good book, is what makes me happy, and this was a really good book. Itâs as if the author writes in a different style at times to align with that of the characters. Iâm honestly in awe of that skill. The tempo and tone changed so fluidly every time the POV shifted from Clay to Austin. Like it didnât miss a beat, but it was also so consistent to the characters and their cadence.I cannot wait to get into the next book! I plan on reading it all weekend.

Title: Delivers Everything You Hoped For
Review: Anyone who's read the first two books in what now appears to be a six-chapter series was waiting for this one: Clay, the blond bombshell on the cover, all-around good guy with a mysterious social life turns out to be gay as a goose in the first chapter--and cranky as a goose as well if he's pushed in the wrong direction. In this case he screws up royally by attacking the owner of the Rusty Nail saloon, the obviously gay bar in the Wyoming wilderness and comes this close to getttng fired by his boss, Leland, the big, broad, beautiful man who kicked off the series by falling in love with a twinkish drifter named Jamie.Clay's punishment, however, could not be more fortuitous because he is dispensed to Denver to pick up the ranch's new accountant, a newly divorced and totally oblivious late 20's meek geek named Austin who might be one of the more offbeat supposedly straight characters you will come across in any gay-for-you novel. This book is brilliantly developed because author North dissects and exposes all the hidden issues of both Clay and Austin, and moves along a semi-slow relationship that catches both of them by surprise and turns out to be nothing like the reader may have expected.I loved the first two books of this series and truly love this one as well. What makes it special as well is that author North keeps bringing in the MCs from the first two books and starts to develop the three characters on the ranch who will be the subjects of the next three books in the series. (My only complaint is that those books are not scheduled to be published until 2022).Meanwhile, grab this one--it's perfect.

Title: Cowboy meets accountant in this tale of sweet, restorative love
Review: In this third visit to Farthingdale Ranch, Clay is sent on a road trip to collect the Ranchâs newest employee, recently-divorced (and straight) accountant Austin, and bring him back to the Ranch. Austin is trying to reclaim his life after finally getting out of an emotionally abusive marriage, and leaving his nine year old daughter behind with his ex-wife is painful. Ranch hand Clayâs habit of regular hookups at the local bar arenât working for him anymore, and the idea that there could be something more fulfilling for him on the horizon has begun to take root. This is a story about healing, yearning for a connection and finding it, perhaps not in the way you might have envisioned â but when you find it you realize that connection is everything. Itâs everything you ever wanted and everything you never knew you needed but fulfills you in a way that makes you complete. There is sweetness, patience, desire and quiet assurance for Austin in Clayâs eyes, and together with the sunsets and vistas waiting to be painted at the foot of Iron Mountain, the next chapter in Austinâs life begins. All of the Farthingdale Ranch supporting cast appear: Leland and Jamie, Jasper and Ellis and the others who make the Ranch an oasis of love and found family, and make the reading of this latest installment feel like coming home.

Title: so sweet
Review: Loved getting to read clays book. He is so adorable my sweet with his easy going nature and smile and dimples. Only thing I didnât like was how right out of the gate they took what was previously depicted as the ranch congenial guy who smiles and helps all and made him out to be slutty with his need to be screwed out in back alleys in bars. Sometimes with more than one person a night. If that your prerogative more power to you but it just seemed like quite the departure form his character. Loved Austin. He was so horribly treated in his previous marriage and got the bad end of the deal in the divorce. He got nothing and then had to pay alimony and they got shared custody but she fought to his allowance of visitations and calls. This bothered me because he could have easily fought that more if she wasnât holding up her end of the agreement. But she was all about herself and how she got out on top. Which she made clear by cheating on him after years of degradation and emotionally belittling him. Then giving up bea cause her new fiancé didnât want a ready made family but his own. And basically made Austin pay for her. So crazy. Loved how Leland seemed more chill about the fraternization. Lol. Loved bea with Austin and clay.

Title: The Sweetest Most Adorable Cowboy
Review: Plot: Hurt/comfort, two lonely souls finding each otherFeels: All the sweet fluffy feels! Sure, there were some sadness, anger, annoyance, etc, but the âawwâ factor eclipsed all.Drama: Everything to do with Austin's nasty, undeserving ex-wife...good riddance!Heat: 1/5 - Slow burnCharacters: Clay is one of those characters that you wish you could just hug and squeeze and kiss everything better for. I love how innocent he is, taking any unfortunate circumstances as a matter of fact, but then blossoming any time something goes well or positively surprises him. Austin was another you want to hug and squeeze, but for different reasons. It was lovely to see him find himself and grow stronger mentally under the influence of Leland and the rest of the Farthingdale Ranch cast. And how cute was Bea!Pacing: Like a southern drawl - slow but enjoyableLength: A solid 5-hr readEnding: HEA - The epilogue was Everything!!!

Review: Austin has divorced his mentally abusive wife, Mona, and taken an accounting job on a ranch where he meets one of the ranch hands, Clay. This is an extremely slow burn, gay for you story, with two sweet, kind characters who find the acceptance and love they need in each other. My only criticism is that I could have done with a few less mentions of Mona, who is a truly terrible person.

Review: I liked clay in the first two books but I didnât realise how soft his character really was he seemed always happy and tough but he was just like the rest looking for love sick of hook ups. Austinâs story was pretty sad he was practically in an emotionally abused relationship being put down, told what to do and provide his ex with everything and the mole still cheated on him worst of all took Bea away from him and took him to the cleaners. Thank god for the ranch having an accountant position available and everything else falls into place.

Review: An okay start as Clay hookup and gets into a bar fight. The story has a far amount of narrative in the beginning as it fills in their back stories. yah I kinda lost me with the story, over dialoguing isn't my thing to hold my attention. I skimmed along in the story. The start was the usual meet and get stranded and with the one bedroom, one bed scenes. Mona is constantly popping up into the story with Austin's talk of her, yah I didn't like her at all.Hmm this book is not my favorite of the series as I couldn't feel or connect with the characters. Too much narrative being the main factor..Clay was at the Rusty Nail eyeing of a fella in a suit..a quick hookup and they'd go their separate ways. Clay worked at the Farthingdale ranch.Austin was divorced with a child he didn't get to see. He was starting a new job at the ranch as their accountant.

Review: Just like her other works, Jackie North's The Ranch Hand and he Single Dad rides roughshod over plausibility and likelyhood to provide a wonderfully escapist romance with the security of a happy ending. It was nice too see Clay getting his man this time. Next book please!

Review: I've now read the first three books in this series and have loved them all. All the men on the ranch are kind of broken in different ways, and it takes wholesome love to mend them.
