Title: Wonderful WiFi client and repeater
Review: TP-Link AX1500 WiFi Extender Internet Booster (RE500X), Ships from: Amazon.com, Sold by: Amazon.com, $54.79 July 2024.TLDR: Wonderful WiFi client and repeater at the same time. Connect any Ethernet device to your WiFi network.I use one of these to connect several Ethernet devices to the WiFi network through a switch. Just connect the Ethernet port on the RE500X with a standard Ethernet cable to any port on a switch and every other device on that switch has internet access. Switch is a TL-SG108E. Router is an Archer AX-80. It worked so well, I bought another. The second one is solely an internet repeater, nothing is connected to its Ethernet port. The first is 50ft from the router through a standard home wall and has 8 clients, Ethernet and both 2.4G and 5G wifi clients within 20ft. The second is 75ft from the router through a brick wall (with windows) and a standard wall with windows and has one 5G WiFi client at 40ft. The first has 1ms or less ping and zero packet loss over 100 pings. The second has 3ms average ping and has zero packet loss over 100 pings. I have them both set to replicate the exact same SSID of the router so no need to change SSID names with _EXT or whatever. Both are stable and working very well. Both have a security camera WiFi client that streams 24/7 to Blue Iris.Quite frankly, these are the best client/repeaters I have ever owned. Highly Recommended.I have a pet peeve with the lack of heat dissipation engineering on modern electronics, especially WiFi gear. Heat has been, is and shall always be the #1 enemy to electronics. Heat derates all amplifiers. I adapt quiet PC case fans for forced air ventilation on electronics one way or another. On the AX80 I sit it on top of a 12V 140mm PC case fan with padded wood feet. On these AX1500s, I drilled holes in the plastic cases with a 3â hole saw and mounted 80mm 5V USB fans with two 3/4â truss head wood screws. Plug the AX1500 into a 3 Way Plug Adapter along with a USB wall charger and plug the fan into the wall charger. Albeit ugly, they run quiet, cool, and extremely well.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CCF9M7QL?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B3T8FXFJ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B093WPKKZK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084X4QVLX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1Although the pictures on that Amazon page for the 5V fans donât show it, they came with USB A males on them instead of the Mini 2-Pin PH 2.54mm Molex plug shown. The 3â hole saw was centered side to side and 2â down from the top. Took the case off first of course. And of course this voids any warranty or thought of return so I waited 48 hrs of burn-in before making this modification. 48hrs burn-in eliminates 90% of infant mortality. In electronics, if it survives burn-in, that puts the item right in the reliability bathtub curve. Add proper cooling and that enhances reliability.Hope this helpsâ¦

Title: Quality product
Review: I bought this TP Link extender because my router is a TP Link also. Iâm glad I did because of the One Mesh programming. They work seemlessly together. With other extenders you would have to log into the extenders as a separate source. With having both TPLink products that work with One Mesh it will automatically switch between your router or your extender which ever gives the best signal in that part of your home. Highly recommend.

Title: Inflexible
Review: I didn't realize before I bought this that it is designed ONLY to be plugged directly into a power outlet. This information was easily available (you can see it in the 360° view in the product images), it just didn't occur to me that they'd make it this inflexible. I've had various devices, like carbon monoxide detectors, that have a detachable plug. The cord can be rolled up and hidden inside while the plug is attached to the back; or you can spool it out and attach the device to a wall (using built-in screw mounting holes on the back) up to something like 6 feet from the outlet. Why wouldn't they make a WiFi extender this way, considering that the best location may not be at an existing outlet?Of course you could use an extension cord, but because the plug blades stick straight out the back, you wouldn't be able to mount it nicely on a wall. I had vague plans to put it at the top of a window frame, with the bottom hanging down into the window recess to accommodate the plug and extension cord. But luckily I found an outlet in a location that works pretty well. Not optimal, but not bad. I may want to move it someday though.I was a bit surprised that it apparently connects to BOTH 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. You can enter different network names and passwords for each. It seems like it basically acts like two separate extenders, one for each band. Like, I guess if a device is connected to it on the 2.4GHz band, its packets get forwarded through the 2.4GHz band to the main router, even if the 5GHz connection is much faster? I don't know for sure, but I don't see another reason why it would have to connect to the main router through both. I assume this is more a limitation of the mesh standards than a design choice made for this particular device.I may someday want to use the "access point" mode, but haven't tried it yet. The instructions say this is for "adding wireless to your existing wired network", not for extending an existing wireless network. It seems to be an entirely different mode, where all the configuration options would be different. So I'm not sure how well it would work if you want to wire it to a main router, and have both act as wireless access points. You could give them the same network name and password, but from what I remember, in such cases devices don't do a good job of choosing the right one to connect to, especially if you move them around. But that was years ago; maybe it works better now.

Title: Excellent for 5G Internet Service
Review: I have T-Mobile home internet and with the required location of the modem, there was spotty service in distant parts of our home. Reading up on what kind of "extender" was required, this fit the bill and at a great price. Easiest extender I have ever installed too! After getting it on the home network, I choose that as the network device and signal goes to "Strong" and very stable. I have used extenders in the past but they were hard to install and I needed 2 to hit all parts of the house. This one just works! Highly recommend.

Title: Good product, easy setup.
Review: Very simple setup. Unbox, plug in. Wait for solid blue light. You will need computer or Teather App on your phone (which I used). Enter the router password at prompt and wait about two minutes for all solid lights. Your done.

Review: Disappointed but not overly surprised, TP is very inconsistent with post release support of their hardware, with dozens of products all named the same but with often unlisted versions the versions seem to do with fixing their own defective hardware but never recalling the earlier versions. like this re500x it's never had firmware upgrades from its initial release, the ax Wi-Fi lacks Wi-Fi 3 support and it the one mesh capability is stuck with repeater mode only. In access point mode you cannot use one mesh to have it act in a ethernet backhaul mode like easy mesh with backhaul hardware, but seeing as the age of this ax device is in relation to the lack of firmware support and very limited capabilities it's disappointing to se TP still hawking the product for the price (after discount still NOT WORTH IT). would be nice to see TP get their product lineup under control and start listing version numbers on teh packaging as well as places like TP along with what the latest version actually is... you know, be forthcoming. They wiped the face of teh earth of the AX20 replacing it with the identical AX23 and dropped all suport of the 20 frusterating to see the ax55 router go through 4 hardware revisions while they continue dorpping firmware for the v1 but the v1 sitll has half the range and stability of the ax23 and 20's so the 55 is acting only as the mesh support, it's so bad that wifi devices in teh same room as the 55 still connect to the other mesh hubs.. likely why the versions have jumped to v4... yet stuck with their defective hardware as the warranty period is only a year and clearly so much of their hardware is full of defects that firmware cannot solve yet recalling it will never happen. Do yourself a favour re500x is crap but so are a lot of the others, check the TP websites support/firmware section and confirm how many hardware revisions exist and make sure when yours arrives before you spend even a second using it check the revision on the label on the back, if it's not the latest return it! if its new and only the one make sure they've released more than the initial firmware and if it's been 6-12 months since a firmware update or there was a litany of firmware's and now a massive period of none but none of the firmware's do anything to add features, but Soley solve problems take a second to think about whether you're getting a lemon masquerading
