Title: Effective
Review: This design has succeeded in making an easy to bait , set, and reuse rat trap. The bait cup, which is loaded from the bottom, is deep enough to fill with peanut butter that will last for several visits. I have started using a hybrid bait mix that takes advantage of the deep bait cup. I slice a thin ,( 1/8th inch ),piece of any round meat stick snack ( âslim-Jimâ, etc) and use peanut butter to âglueâ it into the bait cup. The result is a bait that smells and stays .The trap is easy to empty by squeezing the arming bar and giving the trap several small shakes to drop the pest into a disposal container without having to touch it. This works best if the trap is emptied soon after being triggered. The size of the trap is large enough for big rats and squirrels but small enough to prevent my small dogs and chickens from getting into the bait area. I still place the traps away from normal pet areas to prevent any possible pet injuries.Once the trap is emptied, it will be armed and ready to put into place again and again. Rats are fast breeders and are never solitary.I use a garden hose to wash out the trap if needed. All in all this trap is the next best thing to not having any rats.

Title: Works well on med - lg. rats, not as well on smaller ones
Review: This is by far the most productive trap I've owned. It catches a rat almost daily when they're in my barn. It's super easy to set and I just sprinkle some horse feed in it to bait it. If you want to put cheese or peanut butter in it, it has an easy to use door for that. However, twice it has only maimed and not killed smaller rats. I hate that the poor things were not killed humanely and quickly. Overall, I recommend it, but be prepared for the victim to not be dead if it's smaller.

Title: This really is a house of horrors
Review: I bought these for the claim of "Instant Kill" and "Humane". it might be if you ever catch a rat or mouse, but after nine months and repeated captured videos of rats., I never caught a one. What I did catch was a possum. Apparently, the safety lid that is supposed to keep larger animals like dogs, cats, and yes, possums, out of the jaws of the trap, can pop open if enough pressure is asserted. The possum was motivated and was able to expose the bait and trap. The jaws snapped closed on its head and it was lying there in the morning when I went to check on a barking dog. But wait! It gets worse. When I went to dump the body, it got up and stumbled slowly away as if drunk. Security cameras revealed that the possum had been trapped in that thing for over six hours! It makes me ill to think of what it went through. There were obvious injuries to its head. I don't know if it lived or died, I just know that I will never use another trap like this again. I now use wire cages to catch the rats, I've had them for a week and caught two rats and zero possums! Catching them alive means having to do the euthanization, But,, C02 gas is cheap as well as quick and painless. Possums ROCK!!!

Title: These traps work very well
Review: These have become my favorite rat traps. They work well on both large and small rats, and kills are quick. I haven't had one tripped yet where there wasn't a kill. We have plenty of squirrels, rabbits and birds that we don't want to hurt. These traps are great for getting the rats without being a danger to other animals. I have been using them since mid July and they are holding up well so far. I set them right up against a privacy fence and against walls on out buildings and they work very well. I don't even put bait in them anymore. They just love to walk right into them. These are the best traps I've used for successful kills, and without risk to other wildlife.

Title: Revised down: Most effective rat trap I've used
Review: Revised down from 4 stars to 3. While this is still a highly effective rat trap, the issue of mice eating the bait and not tripping the trap has become a real nuisance and has proven to limit the effectiveness of the trap. Virtually every other day I'm having to re-bait the unsprung traps. Obviously this limits the effectiveness. Currently searching for an effective mouse trap to see if I can rid the property of field mice. Oh, and if you care about such things, it has proven to be an effective trap for ground squirrels.Original review: Clearly the most effective rat trap I have used. I have had the two traps in place for about 3 weeks now, and i have yet to have the trap tripped without a kill, and i'm averaging a trapped rat about every second or third night. So they work! So much easier to set and safer than the old wood based traps which were prone to sprung misses. I took away a star for two reasons. First is that I'm seeing the bait gone without the trap going off. It takes a fair bit of pressure to set off the trap and I'm thinking it may be mice that are not heavy enough to trip the trap while eating the bait. It needs more of a hair trigger. The second reason for the lost star is that it is typically not a demobilizing kill and the traps tend to "walk". See the product video where the trapped rat moves the trap around the yard. I'm going to drill a hole and create a leash to keep the trap from "walking" into the neighbor's yard.

Title: Gotcha!
Review: Had a field mouse take up residence in one of our flower beds and thinking more may come. Set one of these up in the mouse's travel path and by night fall got it. (Scratch one mouse) Easy to bait and set up. Really like the idea of no poisons that our dogs (or roaming cats) can get into or natural scents like peppermint that wear off hours later. The design seems good and durable and protects the bait from rain and direct sun. The opening may be a little small for a large rat, but we'll see. Would recommend

Title: Works!
Review: This thing will snap a finger off! Very strong and fast! Killed a rat that has been lingering around my outdoor shed for months. I tried other traps and this one by far is the best. Donât waste your money on the other brands. The trap had the rat by its skull in less than an hour. Also easy disposable and reusable so if thereâs a family you can eliminate them quickly.
