Title: Would buy again?
Review: It came securely packaged. It was easy to set up. After a 24hr wait due to manufacturer's instructions, the unit has been functioning flawlessly. It removes as much moisture as our older much larger dehumidifier. We have it in our basement and the comfort setting keeps the humidity at a steady 45-50% range. The long tube included fit the water discharge outlet snuggly. We have moved it twice to dry up water from a leaky washing machine. The water drawer holds a lot and is great for times when the hose is not convenient. It rolls smoothly, even on low pile carpet. It seems durable and appreciate it's energy efficiency.

Title: Excellent energy efficiency, operation
Review: The Vellgoo 3200 sq. ft. dehumdifier is a very well designed and constructed product. This is the fourth dehumidifier purchased over the past 35 years. We’ve owned a different brand each time: some better, some worse. One lasted 15 years, one lasted 3 years. I expect this one to last quite a while. We purhcased this Vellgoo model because of its EnergyStar Most Efficient rating, its Consumer Reports expected reliability rating, and other owner reviews found on Amazon indicating its excellent customer service in handling malfunctioning or failing units (which also seem to be rare). We are very pleased with our purchase. Here’s why.The Vellgoo is the quietest dehumdifier we’ve ever owned. It is set up in a 144 sq. ft. storage room within a damp 750 sq. ft. basement, with two large closets. The storage room door generally remains open to allow for dehumidification of the larger basement space. We also occasionally leave the closet doors ajar for the same reason. All dehumdiifers must dispose of the water pulled out of the air. One could simply empty the self-contained bucket, but I don’t consider that a viable option with this particular dehumidifier model. Compared to other dehumdifiers we’ve owned, this bucket is incredibly small to make that a viable option. In my experience, I’d be emptying the bucket several times/day.Instead, we connected the included clear flexible tubing (referred to as a “hose” in description) to an existing condensate pump. (Condensate pumps automatically activate a pump to remove liquid up and out to a higher level drain. Alternatively, that tube can be directed to a floor drain, if you have one. We do not.) The dehumidifier’s design allows one to simply slip the tube through an opening on one side and onto a fitting. It sealed perfectly without leaking and took just a minute to install. Not having to empty the bucket daily (or more frequently) is a tremendous advantage for any dehumidifier. If you are unable to use a floor drain or a condensate pump, I would not recommend this particular model for this reason. Having said that, it is the only limitation I found in this model.During this hot and humid June, the Vellgoo quickly brought the humidity from 65% down to a consistent 45% in both the storage room and the larger basement overall. (I measured relative humdity in different areas with a separate digital humidistat.) It drains flawlessly into our condensate pump without leaks or drips.Occasionally, the dehumidifer goes into a self-defrosting cycle to remove ice buildup; that cycle is visually indicated by a code on the digital display. When defrosting, it exhausts cools air; when dehumidifying, it exhausts warm air. Self-defrosting is a major improvement from other dehumidifiers I’ve owned, which continually try to dehumidify, even though the coils and cooling fins are literally caked with ice. When I’ve noticed ice buildup on other units, I’d shut it off and simply wait a day or two for the ice to melt away. Inefficient to say the least. Continual operation with ice buildup is a likely cause of eventual failure of those units. Whatever dehumidifier you purchase, I highly recommend the “self-defrosting” feature.Overall, I believe that the exhuast heat increases our basement temperature a bit, which is to be expected. It’s such a cool room, however, that a little exhaust heat is actually welcomed in our basement. Your situation may be different, of course. The only negative I’ve encountered after several weeks of use is the digital display; it is quite dim requiring me to stoop a bit to check it closely, but this is a minor inconvenience. I don’t really need to check the display very frequently. As others have noted, it comes with a 1 year warranty. If you register your purchase online with Vellgoo, they add a free additional year to the warranty. That’s a plus, as any sophsiticated appliance may occasionally fail before its time. Should that happen, I’m confident that Vellgoo would make good on it. Overall, I’m extremely pleased with this appliance purchase, and highly recommend this Vellgoo model.

Title: Works very quietly
Review: I impulse bought this dehumidifier right after Houston's most recent hurricane. I decided I needed to better dehumidify a room where my windows leaked. Amazon delivered it quickly and it was very well packaged. My old workhorse dehumidifier still works but is exceptionally loud and weighs a ton so it's hard for me to get it moved in different places or up/down stairs. The appealing factors for this item were the reported quietness and decent water collection tank. And wow, it is quiet. It sounds about like a loud fan (which is a nice background noise.) My old dehumidifier sounds like a lawn mower for comparison. If I tried to run it 24 hours a day, I would probably have to pour out the reservoir multiple times. It's very humid around here. If I had a way to use the gravity drain I would, but until then I will just keep pouring out the bucket. The bucket itself is easy to pull out, and then you just pop off the lid and pour. It's actually very easy compared to my old one. I wish it were a little bit bigger though. So far I have used the timer settings as well as the setting where it will work to a specified level of humidity. Both of these work great. My only concern about the timer, which always works, is that it has a beep at the end. I don't know why, but if you're going to run it for a few hours in a bedroom, note that it will make a noise. Of course you could just run it continuously. The auto stop has worked swimmingly and that's not a pun. So far each time the basin has filled, it has shut off perfectly.I've already recommended this model to a couple of friends. The directions are clear and setup was easy. Note that the hoses are in the bucket and that it has to sit for 24 hours upright before running. There's a giant sticker reminder, you can't miss it.

Review: My Vellgoo dehumidifier worked perfectly for 10 months. It was quiet with easy controls and it did an excellent job managing the humidity in my basement. When it stopped working, I contacted Vellgoo customer service and they sent me a new replacement in a couple of days. Below are some more details of my interactions with Mina, at Vellgoo customer service.I was disappointed when it stopped working, but I contacted Vellgoo customer service and was paired with Mina, who asked me a few questions to help her diagnose the problem. I changed some settings and reported my observations back to Mina, who then diagnosed the likely problem as a fault with the electric control unit. I was expecting instructions for contacting a local service person, but that isn’t what happened. Vellgoo offered me a new replacement dehumidifier, which I accepted quickly and the new dehumidifier was shipped quickly by Mina. The best customer service experience I have ever had. Thank you, Mina, and thank you, Vellgoo.

Review: I moved into a basement apartment for the first time and started having issues with all my belongings just being *damp* now that summer hit. I've had this guy plugged in for about a day now and it managed to pull 5 full tanks of water already and dragged the humidity down from almost 90% to around 50% (measured by the unit itself). I'm in love with it so far and the only downside has been the included drain hose being too short to be even near useful for auto-draining, and that's easily fixed by buying a longer hose.

Customers say

Customers like the performance, quietness, and humidity level of the dehumidifier. They mention it works well, is extremely quiet, and does an excellent job of reducing moisture in the air. Some are also happy with the design. However, some customers disagree on the build quality, size, and value for money.
