Review: Old age, arthritis: my thumbs won't oppose anymore. This gadget opens all kinds of jars and bottles. You know the plastic drink bottles? This tool pops them open without having to cut the lower ring free. Doesn't take much strength either. I'm in short supply of that, too. Stores flat. Highly recommend.

Title: If you're afraid of a pickle jar breaking in your hands...
Review: I got this to open pickle jars. It obviously takes considerable effort to open pickle jars. Fortunately, I can still open them with my bare hands BUT lately I've become more concerned about those jars breaking under the strain, potentially cutting my hands pretty badly. This device makes opening pickle jars (only use to which I've put this device) much easier and keeps my hands away from the jar and any potential broken glass. The device is easy to use and although it might slip on the jars lid, it does the job.

Title: Worst purchase ever
Review: I have bought disappointing products in the past, but none so flamboyantly useless as this one. It's not just that it simply doesn't work. It actively makes opening jars more difficult. Yesterday, for example, I tried to open a jar of pickles. Typical wide-mouth, medium-sized glass jar with a metal lid. Now, I don't know what kind of Thanos engineering attached this lid to this jar, but it wasn't coming off. I ran hot water over it, dried it off, and broke out my jar opener. Set the jar on the grippy pad, wrapped the jar with a textured silicone pot holder to give me an even better grip, and slid the jar opener in place. Applied all the muscle I could muster. Really threw my weight into it. The lid didn't budge, but it did chew up the metal, giving the jar lid a wonderful jagged metal edge to cut myself on if I ever get this lid off.In a fit of frustration, I stabbed the top with a knife to relieve the pressure, then went at it again with the jar opener. Nope. This lid was never coming off - at least not with this jar opener. I threw the jar opener in the trash and resigned myself to a pickleless life, then left the jar on the counter and walked away in disgust. An hour later, I tried again with just my hands, and the lid popped right off.If I had used the jar opener successfully before the pickle fiasco, I might have given it a pass. But it has been terrible in the past. If I had never gotten the lid off Famous Dave's sweet and spicy pickles (delicious, you should try them), I might assume the jar lid was welded on. If I had never used a jar opener that actually works, I might have blamed user error.but none of those things are true, and this jar opener is just garbage. Sorry OXO, I'm a fan of most of your products.

Review: I bought 2 of these as gifts. Both recipients have reported back, with their gratitude fully intact, that the jar opener didn't do what it was supposed to. In fact, the metallic teeth, which are meant to grab onto the jar lids, ended up damaging the lids by scraping off the metal and/or paint.Sadly, the gifts have embarrassed me in public.

Review: The is the only opener that works effectively and single handed for twist and screw top/lids. Simple to use, slide over firmly what you want to open and twist. I’m in my late 70s my bones are weak and I often fracture. This type of opener is perfect especially for one handed user.
