Quick, simple and accessible baking for everyone, using minimal equipment, from Great British Bake Off winner and Sunday Times bestselling author Edd Kimber.

'A brilliant idea for a book and a must-have' - Nigella Lawson

There are times when nothing but a warm chocolate chip cookie will hit the spot. Bad day at work? Chocolate chip cookie. A great day at work? Chocolate chip cookie.

The need for an emergency solitary cookie or two can strike at any time, but baking recipes typically serve large groups, which is perfect for a party, a celebration or a crowd, but not when there's just one (or two) of you and you would rather not spend the money on making a big batch or be faced with eating the same thing all week.

In Small Batch Cookies, Edd showed that good things really can come in small packages. For this new book he wants to focus on cookies, probably the easiest - and arguably most popular - kind of baking there is. Nothing has quite the allure of a cookie straight out of the oven! The classic cookie is chocolate chip, but there is no one single perfect version - the variations are endless and range from double and triple chocolate to dark chocolate and cherry, and white chocolate and lemon. Other less familiar but no less delicious types of cookie include vanilla, peanut butter, ginger, oat and raisin and coconut. The recipes also include vegan cookies and cookies for those with allergies and intolerances.

Title: The Title Says it!
Review: Small Batch Cookies is full of familiar and new recipes. This cookbook is helpful for those of us that simply want to bake a few cookies without doing the math to reduce a standard size recipe. Each recipe is accompanied by a color photo, which is helpful for some of the unfamiliar cookies. The batch sizes range from one to eight cookies. I plan to work my way through each flavor!

Title: Fun in the kitchen!
Review: Edd Kimber is so creative with his bakes and this book is full of fun and interesting cookie recipes. I wasn't expecting to start auditioning Christmas cookies, but the photos on the first few pages inspired me. The Hazelnut Crinkle cookies were a delicious starting point for me. Even better the next day! Since picking up Small Batch Cookies, I've also baked the Grasmere Gingerbread (always the right season for this!), the Stamped Lebkuchen, and Panela Brown Butter Shortbread. I love the flavors in this book...subtle and layered.Baking small batches is surprisingly liberating. Most ingredients on hand and I'm not stressing about what to do with large quantities of cookies. With small amounts, it feels easier to play and experiment.Technique in the book just sort of happens. I feel like I'm getting a gentle masterclass in baking, but at the same time everything so far feels very approachable. I've never baked this much immediately from a cookbook! Really love the thoughtful approaches to gluten-free and vegan, too, which operate from abundance rather than deficit.I suspect this is going to join my other Kimber favorites: Small Batch Bakes, One Tin Bakes Easy, and his fabulous weekly newsletter.

Title: Perfect portion recipes for when you need a treat
Review: This is my 3rd Edd Kimber books and I just love the concept of making smaller portion of everything. My husband prefers chewy cookies and I prefer crispy, now I don’t worry that there’s going to be 24 cookies lying around and who can refuse that temptation. Last night I made Knobbly Chocolate Oat cookies (recipe makes 4!!!!) and I made Oatmeal Raisin soft cookies (again made just 4), they were outstanding. Recipes are well written, easy to follow and delicious. Perfect for when you want just a sweet treat. I love baking and love Edd’s recipes and books. They’re laid out so that you can look up on the content page or go to the index and look up by ingredients.

Review: I had previously only baked one of Edd‘s recipes from his website which quickly became a family favourite. I pre-ordered this book a little impulsively (I am a bit of an advertiser‘s dream unfortunately) and hoped I wouldn’t come to regret it.The book is beautifully laid out and the photos are really attractive. The recipes are clearly written and I love that Edd gives ideas for substitutions or additions for most recipes and also specifies that the recipes can be doubled. There’s a good mix of recipes for 6 cookies and fewer per batch. So far I’ve made 3 different cookies and I find it really refreshing to make a batch using only one bowl and a hand mixer; some days using the stand mixer and making a big batch seems like too much of a production. All of the recipes turned out beautifully.I‘m so glad I bought this book I know I’ll enjoy expanding my repertoire trying out new recipes!

Review: These recipes are explained so well, I’ve made 6 so far and they’ve all been easy to follow and had delicious results! There’s a cookie for literally every occasion and a variety of really easy ones but also ones with a few more steps. I can’t wait to bake my way through it! Also soo perfect if you’re in the mood to bake but don’t want to use a recipe that uses 1 egg but yields 12 cookies 🙂

Review: There is something very comforting about cooking just a few cookies from a small amount of ingredients. All the recipes look so delicious that it is hard to choose what to make. There is so much variety in the types of cookies. So far I have cooked different types of cookie and they were all lovely. Some of the cookies are big enough to share. Even the chapter titles such as ‘Soft & Sumptuous’, ‘Crisp and Crunchy’ or ‘Ooey Gooey’ draw you into this book. Looking forward to cooking a lot more from this recipe book.
