Title: This has replaced Joy of Cooking on my shelf.
Review: I was frustrated because my go-to cookbook, Joy of Cooking repeatedly failed me. I gave the edition I received as a wedding gift to my son and order the newer edition. The recipes I've tried haven't worked at all so I was looking for a cooking bible to replace it. This is the best cookbook ever. Everything I've made has turned out perfectly. I am one of those cooks who can definitely follow a recipe, but even if I weren't, this cookbook would show me step-by-step why things work the way they do. I love that. The ten or so recipes I've used have been great and I have two other America's Test Kitchen books, one 30 Minute Meals and Slower Cooker Revolution, both of which are superb. I highly recommend this book. I got it for a decent price and it was worth every penny and more. Other reviewers have said that ATC's books often repeat recipes so I'll be on the lookout to avoid that pitfall. I can't recommend this highly enough, there should be something higher than 5 stars!

Title: The books that started the whole "Science of Cooking" craze (and where many of the authors of that type of book came from)
Review: I had been cooking for 20 years before I got this book, and I love the fact that the authors of this book tell me WHY certain things worked (or DIDN'T work) when they made their 10, 20 or 100 versions of a recipe. I'm big on substitutions since I don't always have a full pantry or spice rack, and America's Test Kitchen books always explain the science (in layman's terms) of the recipe so I'm not nearly as likely to have chunks in my mousse or runny sauces as I used to.

Title: One of the best cookbooks ever.
Review: I wanted a second copy of this for a second home because it is such a good cookbook. They give you the how and why of how they cook something so while learning how they did it, you can figure out how you would like it and do it that way. Its a great basic cookbook. Its interesting...no pictures and you don't care because the info is worth it and just about anything you read about will increase your baseline understanding of how to cook. Amazon "used" is a great way to get essential books into more than one place at a time so you don't have to haul them around.

Title: Finally selected another CI book for my library
Review: I discovered the The New Best Recipe: All-New Edition, known to my sister and me as "the magical cookbook," in 2007 or so. Since then, I've been pondering what other CI books I need.I've been subscribed to their newsletter and to their CI website. Their quarterly discount offers tempt me for the best international recipe, best slow recipe, etc.But after research and review, I decided there was entirely too much repackaging of recipes in the CI stable, and this was the only safe choice to maximize my lovely CI recipes while minimizing repeats and dollars. The book did not disappoint. There are no repeats from the original that I've noticed. There are some interesting recipes, although a lot fewer recipes in general. There is a recipe for Cincinnati-style chili, which was good but no Skyline. 🙁 It's a fine base for tweaking, and I would have bought the book long ago if I'd known. That was a nice surprise.Next I will pick up Slow Cooker Revolution and then likely call my CI collection complete.

Title: Awsome cook book.
Review: I trust everything from America's Test Kitchen. This is another great book. Remember this is not comprehensive but super detailed about what is in here. More than two inches thick, this book contains recipes and the methods used to get to that recipe. America's Test Kitchen does not repeat recipes in a new book so you will have to get the first book also and their baking book as well. It's all worth it if you love to cook and want to understand why it happens the way it does to make your meal better.

Title: One of my favorite recipe books.
Review: These folks are big on the science, as well as the trial and error methods of cooking, and report their failures to help you know what not do to, and why.

Title: good recipes as stand-alone cookbook BUT....
Review: I am a Cooks Illustrated devotee from its beginnings. I enjoy the experimental approach and detailed instructions for recipes in all of the CI products. And, truthfully, I have prepared only one or two things from this book. I have however, used the magazine and website(s) extensively and they provide the recipes contained in the book so I have great confidence in its content. HOWEVER, this book's title is "MORE Best Recipes" and unless I am missing something somewhere, this volume has no listings for what is in "Best Recipes", its preceding companion work. Wouldn't it have been obvious to the authors to help the reader find information/recipes available in the other volume? Why not list it in the index with another font? I would recommend this cookbook on its own, especially--perhaps even more enthusiastically---to those not having the other volume.

Title: Excellent collection of America's Test Kitchen recipes in a well-constructed hardcover book
Review: An excellent collection of America's Test Kitchen recipes in a well-constructed hardcover book. ATK tests its recipes until it arrives at perfection, then explains why the recipe works well.
