A unique, unfiltered memoir from the NBA champion and 15-time all-star ahead of his induction into the Hall of Fame.
Kevin Garnett was one of the most dominant players the game of basketball has ever seen. He was also one of its most outspoken. Over the course of his illustrious 21-year NBA career, he elevated trash talk to an art form and never shied away from sharing his thoughts on controversial subjects.
In KG: A to Z, published ahead of Garnett’s induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame, he looks back on his life and career with the same raw candor. Garnett describes the adversity he faced growing up in South Carolina before ultimately relocating to Chicago, where he became one of the top prospects in the nation. He details his headline-making decision to skip college and become the first player in two decades to enter the draft directly from high school, starting a trend that would be followed by future superstars like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. He shares stories of playing with and against Bryant, James, Michael Jordan, and other NBA greats, and he chronicles his professional ups and downs, including winning a championship with the Boston Celtics. He also speaks his mind on a range of topics beyond basketball, such as fame, family, racism, spirituality, and music.
Garnett’s draft decision wasn’t the only way he’d forever change the game. His ability to play on the perimeter as a big man foreshadowed the winning strategy now universally adopted by the league. He applies this same innovative spirit here, organizing the contents alphabetically as an encyclopedia. If you thought Kevin Garnett was exciting, inspiring, and unfiltered on the court, just wait until you hear what he has to say in this audiobook.

Title: Unfiltered. Provacative. Poetic. Insightful.
Review: I could keep listing other adjectives to describe this book, but it is unique and amazing. KG did what other artists tend to do, which is to create something that they enjoy and put it out there. He did not put this book together by trying to appeal to a certain segment of the population, instead, he told his story in the way he wanted to tell it and I know for me, it totally resonated. He describes himself as an ADD reader who might pick up a book and read a few pages and then put it down. This is exactly how I read as well and the style he uses (dictionary style where he includes random words in alphabetical order to describe a person or memory) suits this. It is also the way that we typically remember our experiences as well. It is fun to read a biography or story that runs chronologically, but in reality, we don't view ourselves in that way and neither does KG in the book. He is very open about his experiences growing up, the people and situations he encounters (surprise concerts with Prince, encountering Biggie and Wilt, his shoe deal experiences and many more), and he can be very thoughtful in her perceptive observations. He is someone who is very curious and very passionate and those qualities bleed all over each and every page. If you are a basketball fan who followed KG's career, whether you were a big fan or not, you MUST read this book. It will highlight some things you may have forgotten, and it will be one that you will enjoy and pick up from time to time in the future as well. Highly recommend!

Title: Good autobiography from Kevin Garnett.
Review: I loved reading this book and enjoyed Kevin Garnett frankness on many topics. Kevin Garnett talks about his upbringing in South Carolina and eventually having to move to Chicago. Kevin talks about his father not being in his life and being raised by his mother. Kevin talks about leaving South Carolina because of a racially charged incident. He talks about developing his basketball skills and NBA culture through the years. He talks about his achievements in basketball and adversity such as injuries. The book isn't a traditional autobiography and is all over the places and has many cuss words. This is a good book overall.

Title: Unique and compelling book. A page-turner.
Review: KG clearly dictated this book. In the first chapter you'll understand why, but the key is that his editor may have "cleaned it up" a bit in terms of flow and grammar, but he wisely left it in Garnett's voice, which is a lot of street slang. It would've seemed fake and unreal to make him sound any other way. I could hear Kevin Garnett's voice with every word I read. The book is open, honest, and cuts no slack. It's an amazing look into his life, his upbringing, the challenges he faced, and the career he created. Fabulous.

Title: Great book
Review: âKG: A to Z: An Uncensored Encyclopedia of Life, Basketball, and Everything in Betweenâ by @tic_pix is a great look into the background & life of one of the @nba most impactful players to step on a ð court.Saw this book & had to pick it up as KG was one of my favorites to play the game; I remember watching him play on ðº in high school then of course in the NBA. Just an all around great player and person. This book was a great dive into his background coming directly from him. While the ð is setup a little differently & not in a traditional format as most would like or be comfortable with, @tic_pix nailed it to ensure his story was told appropriately and with his own words. There is a lot he shares that I was never aware of and his road to the @nba & in it definitely gives a reader an appreciation on what this great athlete and person had to overcome.Congratulations @tic_pix on getting inducted into the @nba_hall_of_fame_this year!

Title: Charismatic, street, but cool.
Review: I enjoyed it very personal memoir but I related with a lot of Garrett's expressions I like the way he's unapologetic but reaching for as much understanding from the reader as possible selling his personality off the court but not too much it felt like a negotiation between the reader and KG to understand his life, its obvious when the other author takes over, and felt overly polished but understandable kind of way, still goes pretty hard though hilarious and original than most you'll ever read charisma is hard to find these days

Review: This is a very KG book. His relationship with his ghostwriter must have been incredible. If you are a fan, you will really enjoy it. It is not a linear biography. It is written in chunks and is full of wisdom
