Title: A guide to help you build that happy healthy relationship!
Review: This book seems like it would be short, given that it says "5 keys" in the title, but this book is decently, and perfectly long! I'm very happy with the length of this book. It gives you many, many examples on what to avoid, and what to pay more attention to in any relationship you may have. It's honest and informative,and gives you plenty of things to think about. It's a great guide to read and acknowledge every little detail that goes into a relationship. Wonderful book!

I liked that it was separated into organized sections for each of the 5 Keys to Building Lifelong Healthy Relationships.First, the author, Ariane S. Turpin, thoroughly addresses building Trust in relationships. She stresses that without mutual trust, you are not in a healthy situation.—“Trust is essential in order for a relationship to be successful and joyful.” and “Having confidence in your relationship fosters more safety and intimacy.”Next, she discusses the importance of mutual strong Communication and active listening skills being used by both partners. She stresses that: “Understanding should be the ultimate purpose of communication, not to argue, not to dismiss, not to invalidate, but to understand.”Another key she addresses for building healthy relationships is the setting of healthy Boundaries. “Boundaries teach us how to respect each other’s limits, comfort zone, and personal space.”Next, the author moves on to dealing with Conflict in a Positive way. She provides some strategies to make conflict resolution easier and less stressful for the individuals in a relationship.And in addressing the fifth key, the author reveals the importance of Self-care in relationships. “Two healthy people are necessary for a healthy partnership. Title: Gave me strength for a new relationship
Review: I am a single dad and have had many unpleasant relationships in the past. So much so that there is a bitter aftertaste and fear of getting into another one. As faith has it, I came across someone who entered my life, but I was too afraid to give it my all as I hid behind a wall to protect myself.It was through this book that I came to realise that I am doing it to myself. The chapter on Communication styles is especially helpful to me as I gained insights on what I was doing wrongly and discovered that even when we have the best intentions and love for each other, how I was expressing myself caused things to head in a negative direction.I am glad I found this book at the right moment in time. Review: This was an interesting read, given that I'm forty-something years into a marriage which has had its ups and downs. No surprise, really, when just a look at the Table of Contents for author Ariana S. Turpin's book indicates just how much goes into maintaining a relationship. There are two individuals present in any one of these, each with their own individual needs to be met, as well as dovetailing these together in a workable day-to-day relationship which also manages to retain the spark of attraction which brought the couple together in the first place. Small wonder then that we don't always get it right.There's a logical layout to this book, first using an overview of a fictional relationship--which could be that of any couple--to illustrate how easy it is for things to slide from a healthy to an unhealthy state of affairs. The key elements of health are examined in depth, such as trust, communication, setting of boundaries, coping with conflict and the need for self-care by both parties.Having set out and examined the 'why' of these requirements in Part I, the author uses Part II to go into more depth on the 'how,' with a Conclusion to summarise things and a handy section of References for deeper reading. I was a little confused by the 'false endings' of both sections, with the requests for a review which usually comes at the end of a book. That's a minor point though.In summary, there's much food for thought here, and it seems to me that it wouldn't be a bad idea to teach it in schools--particularly the fact that a relationship takes work, is a constant work-in-progress, in fact. I've seen so many relationships fail because people aren't prepared to compromise--which is madness, given how two sets of needs have to be reconciled. It's even more important in this age of social media and online activity that people need to address face-to-face interactions--I've seen couples in restaurants busy on their phones, rather than talking to each other.There's a lot that goes into each individual relationship, far too much to fit comfortably into one book--but author Ariana S. Turpin makes a good attempt.
