Title: It's got just what I like in a cookbook
Review: It's got just what I like in a cookbook: good mix of basic standby recipes and "special occasion" dishes. The directions and recipes are clear and precise, there's lots of gorgeous food photographs, and plenty of suggestions for variations. The ingredients are things that are readily available for most people, and make good use of pantry and spice-rack staples.I've been slowly working my way through the recipes, and the ones I've tried have all been good. I like their unique additions to setian dough â Why didn't I ever think of adding celery salt? â and the "corned beef" seasoning works great to recreate their Radical Rueben. Other standouts: Tofu "Fish" Sandwich with tartar sauce and their vegan Ranch dressing. I've also tried several of the sauces and side dishes, all with success. I can't wait to get to the Bibimbap!

Title: The worlds best vegan diner
Review: The worlds best vegan diner. I got this book because I love Chicago Diner. I go there every time I visit Chicago. I can't seem to buy anything other than the Reuben. It is outstanding. Before my heart procedure the Reuben was my favorite sandwich. Now that my cholesterol is back to a normal range, I'm staying on track and going mostly vegan. But I digress.....the recipes in this book are a bit time consuming, but well worth effort. And the photos are outstanding. Heck, if you never cook anything in the book, buy it to look at the photos!

Title: Great Vegan Cookbook!
Review: Wonderful cookbook!! I have made 9 recipes thus far in the few weeks since I purchased the book and they have all been great!!I have been a vegan for 5+ years and I am always looking for new and tasty recipes which can sometimes be difficult. I read about the restaurant and the cookbook in VEG magazine so I decided to give it a try. My husband is excited to have some new dishes to try and after each and every one has said, "this is a keeper"!The recipes are very easy to prepare and don't require a lot of ingredients that you won't already have on hand. You won't be dissapointed with this book!!

Title: A book for experimental gourmets
Review: I'm torn. I think some of the recipes call for ingredients that I would not normally have in my pantry because I have no other use for them. For me, that's enough to take it down to 4 stars - but it also has a recipe for making your own zeitan, and another for Mezcal Mule, which brings it back up to 5 stars. It's worth your time and money if you are an experimental cook like me, and really enjoy gourmet quality vegetarian foods. This is all for now. I have to go shopping to find Pita Chip Seasoning and mezcal.

Title: Much Better Than The Average Vegetarian Cookbook
Review: I'm neither a Vegetarian or Vegan, but my husband is the former. We periodically head into the city for a meal at the Chicago Diner. Given that there is absolutely no meat on their menu, I still really like the food there. It is creative and tasty, surprisingly so. It also offers a lot of food variety. The diner's menu offers some interesting meat substitutes and their veggie burgers (black bean burgers) are far better than anything you'll find at the grocery store. This cookbook is a reflection of the diner, but what sold me was thumbing through it at the local book store. This cookbook offers a lot of variety in terms of everything from soup to desert. There are some recipes that a very simple and easy to prepare such as a salad featuring cranberries and a cranberry vinaigrette dressing. A more time intensive dish is the faux Reuben style sandwich. It involves prepping a meat free substitute before you assemble the sandwich itself which includes an easy cold sauerkraut. The recipes themself call for ingredients you may not find at the local grocery store. However, everything is readily available at health food stores. We have them in the neighborhood so this is not a problem. As for results, these recipes if followed exactly are great. I wouldn't advise improvising at least until you have mastered a recipe and get a sense of what the finished product is. However, that is just based on my experience.I have a couple of criticisms regarding this book. This book is not exactly gluten-free friendly, but that is stated throughout the cookbook. Many times the recipes offer ingredients that are not gluten-free. The cookbook also calls for ingredients that I have never heard of before which I suspect make them 100% vegan friendly. No substitutes are suggested which can be a little irksome because my husband is not vegan. This is a very good cookbook that reflects a creative approach to maintaining a meat free diet and offers options for every diet.

Title: Great Restaurant = Great Cookbook
Review: I love this restaurant and I love this cookbook. To be honest, I bought the whole thing for one recipe, but it has tons of others that look great and that I'm excited to try. It also has helpful tips for how to stock a vegan pantry, how to make your own proteins, and items that are essentials for a vegan chef (like nutritional yeast). It's written in a really fun, approachable way and isn't at all preachy, which is nice. It's a fun little cookbook for a young, beginner vegan chef, and I can't wait to make everything in it!

Title: I love the Chicago Diner and
Review: I love the Chicago Diner and, since I no longer live in Chicago, I miss it dearly. This cookbook is just what I needed. I've only had it a couple of days and have already made a few of the recipes. - The Radical Reuben is amazing - Recipes are easy to follow and don't call for much more than what most vegetarians/vegans already have in the pantry. Highly recommend this cookbook.

Title: Awesome book
Review: I'm not a new vegan, I've been vegan for 9 years. I know a lot of hacks and substitutes. But this book was still a life changer. I've been to the Chicago dinner a couple times and the food is awesome.
