THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
From Erin French, owner and chef of the critically acclaimed The Lost Kitchen, comes a life-affirming memoir about survival, renewal and the pleasure of bringing joy to people through food.
Erin French grew up barefoot on a farm, fell in love with food as a teenager working the line at her dad’s diner and found her calling as a professional chef at her tiny restaurant The Lost Kitchen, tucked into a 19th-century mill—now a world-renowned dining destination.
In Finding Freedom in the Lost Kitchen, Erin tells her story of multiple rock-bottoms, from medical student to pregnant teen, of survival as a jobless single mother, of pills that promised release but delivered addiction, of a man who seemed to offer salvation but ripped away her very sense of self. And of her son who became her guiding light as she slowly rebuilt her personal and culinary life around the solace she found in food—as a source of comfort, a sense of place, as a way of creating community and making something of herself, despite seemingly impossible odds.
Set against the backdrop of rural Maine and its lushly intense, bountiful seasons, Erin French’s rollercoaster memoir reveals struggles that have taken every ounce of her strength to overcome, and the passion and courage behind the fairytale success of The Lost Kitchen.

Title: Same Book
Review: I gave it 5 stars because it is a great story BUT it is exactly the same story as Finding Freedom, A Cook's Story etc. only the cover is different. There are no recipes or pictures in either book, so, buy whichever one is cheaper. You might want to purchase from bargain books category for this one. The book dwells on the tragic and I was hoping for more of the life after the horrible ex-husband. She only gives two pages to the new sweet guy. The book ends shortly after the opening of The Lost Kitchen inFreedom, ME. I hope she writes a second book that starts with the current Magnolia Network show about the escapades of the restaurant and goes more into the life stories of those who support her. I highly recommend the book - The Lost Kitchen Recipes - it's great! I look forward to another recipe book. Erin French is not only a great cook, she's also a very good writer. She exposes her soul in print as well as on the screen.

Title: Quick read
Review: Got this book because a friend suggested it, overall a decent read. There were some parts that I felt dragged on a bit, like when she would talk about food/ingredients, etc. that seemed a little too long that you could skip on in the beginning but it took an unexpected turn half way through and had a good ending.

Title: I loved Erin's story.
Review: What a great spirit. I found the book to be well written and inspiring. To those put off by the "F" bomb; get over yourselves. I personally don't trust anyone who doesn't use it occasionally. I'm going to try my luck at going to dinner at the Lost Kitchen. I'm just waiting for April! Erin, don't change your style, I love it, and clearly, the majority of readers did as well.

Review: I couldn't put this book down. Erinâs story is warm, at times gritty, captivating but above all inspiring. Her personal journey to finding herself and her lifeâs passion feels like one that many set out on for themselves but lose the way. Reading this book will reignite your own fire to find your right path, as it has for me. I read it over two days and was so grateful for the experience of getting to know Erin. And, I havenât even mentioned the FOOD! Wow, if you like food writing this book wonât disappoint.

Review: You may never have heard of Erin French or her world famous restaurant The Lost Kitchen, but donât let that put you off reading this awesome, inspiring and moving memoir. It is a searingly honest account from a lady who has had to overcome many things in her life, but has done so with strength, determination and ultimately belief in herself and consequently I am sure that this book will definitely inspire you, like it has done me.Ultimately Erins' account tells it as it was and now is with no unnecessary embellishing as so many authors seem to do, and I loved the honesty of her writing. From a young age she fell in love with cooking, and always felt that her life would revolve around producing food that would nourishing and loved. She does a fabulous job of writing about cooking, and you could tell how much she loves it from her descriptions that bring her food to life.I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this book to you and am happy to give it the full 5 stars it so thoroughly deserves. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.I hope that this review has been helpful to you in deciding whether this is the right product for you.

Review: Finding Freedom In The Lost Kitchen is the memoir of Erin French, owner and chef of The Lost Kitchen restaurant in Freedom, Maine which has now become a world-famous place to eat.Erin learnt how to cook from her family; she worked in her fatherâs diner from the age of twelve. Later, she moved away from rural life to attend college, but life's twists and turns brought her home once more. Soon she was raising her son alone, and began to find outlets for her cooking skills. Through the ups and downs of earning a living, opening her first restaurant and an unhappy marriage, Erin takes the reader on a candid journey through her life. The book title intrigued me; I had not heard of Erin or her restaurant before now. The âLost Kitchenâ made me want to find out more. I was really pleased to read how things have progressed and are working out for Erin. Her passion for cooking shines through and there are so many mouth-watering descriptions of food on the pages of this book, that they made me want to get baking myself. I particularly liked the idea that reservations at her restaurant are by postal ballot, as it suited the ethos of the home-style roots that Erin maintains. There is so much for the reader to discover in this book as you travel with Erin from early childhood to the point where her restaurant is a great success. I truly wish her dreams never stop growing.Recommended to foodies and those who enjoy a memoir with a happy ending.
