Title: Excellent insider guide to Kyoto
Review: This is an excellent travel guide that fills a unique niche in Japan travel guides. Usually Kyoto is covered in guides as a tourist city with emphasis on popular shrines and the typical beaten path. In contrast, this is a deep local guidebook beautifully organized by neighborhood and the recommendations are special, personally curated and diverse. Kyoto is brought to life as a city of refinement, reflection and unique culture. Highly recommend this as well as Mackintosh and Wide's other excellent Japan travel guides.
