A powerful mother. Three daughters. And a fast-paced, cutthroat culinary legacy up for grabs in a darkly witty novel about a family on the edge by the bestselling author of The Nobodies and The F Word.

Maren Winter is a world-renowned restaurateur who has built an empire. No one heeds the whispers of her retirement more closely than her three daughters, all in service to their mother’s legacy.

On the night of Maren’s annual New Year’s Eve party, a line is crossed, and word of a humiliating family meltdown spreads like a Northern California wildfire through the culinary elite. It’s a golden opportunity for one of them to step into power—and a trigger for a spiraling descent into paranoia and blind ambition.

As the Winter family’s dissolution begins, so does a journey of competition, love, loyalty, self-preservation, and the need for three women to forge a path of their own.

Title: Delicious
Review: I really liked this book and was engaged from the beginning. The story is very well written and it’s an interesting drama of family dynamics, mothers and daughters and a family business dynamic. The characters are very interesting and given great depth. At times I couldn’t put it down because the drama was so intense and I had to keep going to find out what happened. I became invested in a few of the characters and cheered them on. In fact, I kind of wish there was a sequel because the ending fell flat. All of that intensity and then.. But I would definitely recommend it.

Title: Couldn’t Put This One Down
Review: 3.9 stars overall rating?? Oh no, no, no people! I don’t understand why this book isn’t on the Bestseller Lists. Beautifully written with care and attention to words. The cleverest idea for a story that I’ve seen in quite some time. A testament to sisters and the unique places they hold in our lives. This novel deftly explores aging, expectations we have of children, the power of friendship, and so many other issues. The book casually drops the most interesting thoughts: “How great would an empire be if it was threatened by its own progress?”The story begins with an aging mother who was once the cutting edge of haute cuisine. She very publicly fires her chef daughter on New Year’s Eve for daring to tweak her menu. From there, it’s a fascinating journey of discovery for all three daughters as they figure out how to navigate life while not under their mother’s thumb. I found the food descriptions and the insider restaurant details engrossing. Some reviewers have stated that none of the characters are likeable. I did not experience this, especially when balancing the very “Mom-centric” way that the girls were brought up. Even the aging chef showed some vulnerability. All in all, a very good book.

Title: interesting theme
Review: I found the story interesting, the restaurant industry as a setting and the theme of the sisters and family drama seemed pretty realistic and different from other trending family stories. The ending was a bit too quick for me. Some potential for a sequel to follow!

Title: Solid family drama!
Review: Take note, foodies and family drama fans. Boy, do I have a juicy, entertaining, and witty book recommendation for you today. Family Reservations by Liza Palmer is a mother/daughter story about four fierce women in the restaurant business. Let me tell you — I ate this one up! (See what I did there?)Maren Winter is world-renowned restaurateur and chef on the brink of retirement. She has built an impressive empire, and is set to leave a legacy for her three daughters who are all employed by her. At her annual New Year’s Eve party, some major drama goes down that sends shockwaves everywhere! Things get a little out of hand, and go way too far.Maren Winter is one of THE MOST unlikable and frustrating characters EVER, but my gosh, I loved her. And absolutely despised her at the same time. How can that be? I dunno, but that’s some great character development right there. Some may call her cutthroat, evil, and narcissistic. I would probably agree. My jaw was on the floor multiple times because of her antics!READ THIS IF YOU ENJOY:- Family drama, dynamics, and dysfunction- The restaurant and food industry- Complex mother/daughter relationships- Sisterhood and sibling rivalry- Strong and ambitious female characters- Steady and exciting plot- Multiple perspectives- Flawed and unlikable characters- Mental health representationIf you’re an Amazon Prime member, act quickly. Title: Nice read but left wondering
Review: This story definitely encompasses family drama, hope, the fear of rebuilding’s one life on their own. It’s actually a decent self esteem builder for the reader if they’ve ever found themselves stuck in that it offers some encouragement and positivity without shoving it in your face. Just wish it didn’t end the way it did.

Title: not what I expected
Review: I really wanted to like this book a lot but it so dragged and dragged I considered just not finishing but I can never do that with a book. Mother daughter relationships are definitely not easy but this is just too much. The mother is a narcissist and the daughters are a mess. The ending is somewhat satisfactory but not worth everything you have to plow through.

Review: If you're looking for a light, frothy beach read, I don't think you'll like this book but if you enjoy a deep dive into the human psyche as I do, this is a great read! I found the motivations, the dynamics among the family members, the deception etc. fascinating. When there was deep pain and dysfunctional patterns there was also opportunity for redemption. This was one of those intense reads that I had a hard time putting down. Maybe not for everyone, but I loved it!

Review: The characters complexities created a choppy read, for me. The damage each faced being raised by their mother, was sad. There seemed to be caring adults in their story, like Penny and the Aunt but why did it take so long for them to finally tell Maren, their mother, the truth, of the harm she was inflicting on her childrenSome curiosity, got me through this novel but I didn't love it!!
