Title: Nice Cookbook, Nice Recipes
Review: This book is mainly on ribs, vegetable, desert, and drink recipes. There are no hamburger, sausage, hot dogs, brisket, or chicken recipes. One pork (butt) shoulder recipe incidentally. Not all sauce, and marinades require bourbon whiskey by the way. There isnât any nutritional information of how much sodium, carbohydrates, etc per serving if you need to know. Recipes that use common ingredients you can get from most supermarkets that is important to me. I live in a very small town in the South, with one gas station, and one traffic light, no grocery store. I got to travel to a bigger small town to grocery shop, and I can get these ingredients there. It has pickled vegetable recipes that I like, I probably have pickled carrots and onions with my eggs and beans for breakfast. Another nice thing, most of the cooking they say how to do it in an oven. So if you donât have a barbecue grill or smoker itâs ok, just buy a bottle of liquid smoke (top shelf in grocery store where they sell BBQ sauce usually)for that flavor. Though I have a couple of barbecue grills, and three smokers, well when it rains really hard I opt for the oven. Some barbecue cookbooks only mention the grill or smokers. Though the book doesnât mention pressure cookers, if you have one it takes fifty minutes to cook ribs to âfall off the boneâ tender about 205 degrees Fahrenheit. Then I put the ribs in the smoker afterwards, with sauce to thicken for half an hour. I am lazy that way. I like the book, love the mix of recipes, and thankfully I got it at a discount store for six dollars, life is good.
