Title: Very capable for a take apart travel rod.
Review: The rod arrived quickly and for the most part appears to be a quality item. A nice finish to the rod and the pieces fit together beautifully. The reel seat rod thickness and general light weight give me some concerns about how robust it will prove to be. But in dry-land testing the rod appears to have a decent action and some decent backbone given the line rating, so I'm keen to get into some inshore saltwater fishing to fine out how it holds up. The The bag that comes with the rod is a little cheap and doesn't offer much protection, but serviceable enough to keep the pieces together and frankly I prefer the company skimps on the bag rather than the rod. I intend to get a piece of PVC water pipe to slip it all into before putting in my suitcase. I've paired the rod with my Daiwa BG4000 which looks a fraction big for it but it feels ok in the hand. I am looking forward to giving the rod a real test during a fishing trip later in a couple of weeks, and if the rod handles it well I'll be back to give it an extra star.Update: Have upped my score to 5 stars as the rod performed well on 3 - 4lb snapper and Kahawai (sea trout) as per the photo beside the rod and a Daiwa BG4000. The Kahawai had the rod almost doubled in half when he ran straight down close to the boat, but the rod held up ok. The rod performed fine with the drag on the reel set at 3.5lb. Unfortunately I didn't catch anything bigger to test how it would go if I needed to wind the drag up, I suspect it may not have the "guts" to stop a big snapper. But a great rod if you keep in mind its limitations and don't ask the impossible from it. I do note the "Fiblink" decal is already starting to peel off the rod.

Title: High quality and fits in a 24" checked bag. MH is perfect for casting lures in the surf.
Review: For the money this rod is awesome. It doesn't come with a hard case, just a bag, but it fit in my medium size luggage and that was perfect. I took this to mess around with lures on the beach in the US Virgin Islands. I paired this rod with a 4000 sized daiwa spinning reel with 30lb braid and had a blast with it. Caught a 33" snook 12-13lb snook in the surf and a nice horse eye jack and yellow jack. The medium heavy 7' 6" fast action had just the right amount of whip for casting and enough back bone to put pressure on the fish and reel them to the shore. Since these are very light, there is little weight penalty for bringing an extra. I plan on getting a second one to have as a spare next time I travel. I would not expect these to hold up as well as a $150 shimano with frequent use, but worked perfectly for me to travel with.

Title: Good for price and travel, don't test it's strength
Review: Rod is well designed and travelled well, which was the main purpose of my purchase. It acted well as a cohesive unit once assembled. I purchased the 7' medium. Word of caution if you haven't physically picked one up before purchase, this is a very light weight rod, particularly towards the tip. I gave the carbon fiber construction more credit than due, when trying to unsnag lure, the second section of the rod gave out and shattered. Decent rod for lightweight fishing, great rod for packing and travelling. Fits the price.

Title: Works for me!
Review: Bought this on our trip to Puerta Vallarta and I'm glad I did. We stayed at the Hilton and birds were dive bombing baitfish the first few days and I got into them. The first day, I felt like I had a bite almost every cast, mostly ladyfish. I got the 7'6" Med and it handled them well. The rod fits mt wife's check in luggage diagonally. If you're worried about it not fitting yours, go with the 7' rod. It only came apart once when I made a cast, so no big deal. I was throwing anything from a 1/2 kastmaster to a 2oz dart and it had no problems launching the lures way out there. I'll be bringing this to all of my trips from now on.

Title: Tip snapped off on second use...
Review: The construction and esthetics of the rod look very good but it didn't live up to the look. I've got numerous rods with thousands of casts on them and this one didn't survive two outings. After it snapped on a cast, I snipped it near the second eyelet after it broke so I could continue fishing and it still worked but was nonetheless disappointing.Certainly, it's my travel rod for a random outing while I'm on a work trip, but I would expect it to survive the normal function of the rod, i.e. casting a 2 gram jig.I'll try to see if I can get a replacement tip, but I'm not very hopeful this won't be a continuing problem. I'll update the review once I see if the customer service is responsive.Update: So far, unresponsive towards warranty claim. Either buy the Amazon warranty or don't buy if you're expecting response from the manufacturer.

Title: Better Than Expected
Review: I ordered two 7' rods but received a 7' and a 6.5'. They both fit in my luggage (diagonally, under my clothes). The 6.5' rod breaks down a little smaller than the 7' so go with that if you're concerned about them fitting in your luggage. As others have said they are well made. They arrived in perfect condition. They come in a reusable synthetic roll with pockets for each section which will prevent scratches and keep the rod sections organized but not protect the rod otherwise - so I handled them with care. They assemble snugly and firmly. The action is a little faster (stiffer) than I'd like but they cast well and handle great. The action of the 6.5' is a little less stiff than the 7' rod which seems to have a little more backbone.I only caught small snapper so I can't attest to their performance under serious load. The 6.5 held up fine when I got snagged on coral and had to muscle free. They are light rods but I bet these would be fine hooking up on a 24" Snook or Jack - I'll let you know when I find out.I paired the 6.5 with a 2500 Penn reel and the 7' with a 3000 Shimano - both worked great.

Review: Used this rod on a recent trip to Mexico. Caught some nice fish casting from the beach. The rod was comfortable to use and had no problems with it. Got this nice little mackerel that took a couple good runs and the rod performed very well. ð
