"A gorgeous love story from one of the finest romance writers out there." —Carley Fortune, New York Times bestselling author of Every Summer After

A New York Public Library Best Book of 2023

A Most Anticipated Book by Entertainment Weekly ∙ Harper's Bazaar ∙ PopSugar ∙ Real Simple ∙ BookRiot ∙ and more!

An overworked book publicist with a perfectly planned future hits a snag when she falls in love with her temporary roommate…only to discover he lives seven years in the past, in this witty and wise new novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Dead Romantics.

Sometimes, the worst day of your life happens, and you have to figure out how to live after it.

So Clementine forms a plan to keep her heart safe: work hard, find someone decent to love, and try to remember to chase the moon. The last one is silly and obviously metaphorical, but her aunt always told her that you needed at least one big dream to keep going. And for the last year, that plan has gone off without a hitch. Mostly. The love part is hard because she doesn’t want to get too close to anyone—she isn’t sure her heart can take it.

And then she finds a strange man standing in the kitchen of her late aunt’s apartment. A man with kind eyes and a Southern drawl and a taste for lemon pies. The kind of man that, before it all, she would’ve fallen head-over-heels for. And she might again.

Except, he exists in the past. Seven years ago, to be exact. And she, quite literally, lives seven years in his future.

Her aunt always said the apartment was a pinch in time, a place where moments blended together like watercolors. And Clementine knows that if she lets her heart fall, she’ll be doomed.

After all, love is never a matter of time—but a matter of timing.

Title: A Magical Love Story!
Review: Absolutely loved this book! A beautiful story. A book about grief, lost loved ones, new loves, finding yourself, and the wonderful journey of life. If you loved the movie “The Lake House”, then this book is perfect for you! It has very similar concepts to that movie. It’s about the journey love and loss takes you on and about finding your person when you least expect it and maybe the wrong time, but making it work and hoping it will at the right time! I love Clementine and James, but I love Lemon and Iwan more. One of my favorite books of 2024! A romance book with a twist! I highly recommend it!!

Title: A gorgeous story !
Review: This was a gorgeous story. The concept of magical realism in this novel was successful because it was simplistic and not trying to overly complicate or take away from the romance. I loved the mix of present and past and how they were interwoven. While Ashley Poston most definitely has a way with words and wrote grief in a very beautiful, surreal way, at times I felt it the prose was overwritten. There was a disconnect in the flow, with too many of the same similes and anthropomorphic descriptions thrown in just to make it feel “poetic” imo.I wasn’t a huge fan of the insta-love; it felt a far-fetched that this man would wait 7 years for a woman he had a total of 3 interactions, spanning 1-2 weekends with. Their love connection felt immature and not developed enough to make me invested. I resonated much more with the present day chapters than the past. Perhaps I enjoyed the tug and pull of the present day interactions much more as it created a sense of romantic suspense and stakes that segued into the ending beautifully.

Title: Good story, but horrible print
Review: Everything was great until about 25% into the book. See photos above for printing mistakes. While it is only a small section that is messed up, I am very disappointed at this flaw in my copy.

Title: Simply Magical
Review: 4.5 stars for me.Author Ashley Poston nails the perfect combination of magical happenstance and romance in the book. Clementine is my ideal FMC: smart, successful, and loyal. I loved her journey of evolution through this book and how her character finds her way through life and toward happiness, while navigating through her grief. The way Poston is able to bounce readers through the seven year time skip by way of magic apartment is somehow believably written. Truly remarkably achieved.I felt like I was in NYC visiting with Clementine and enjoying the descriptions of her life and travels. This book is a quick read and I found myself flying through its pages with a craving that wasn’t going to be satisfied until the end of the story.

Title: Soulful. Earnest. And refreshingly charismatic. ❤️
Review: The Seven Year Slip centers around Clementine, a book publicist, and Iwan, an up-and-coming chef, who meet quite literally seven years apart inside a magical apartment that acts like a pinch in time. This book is magical realism done R-I-G-H-T because admittedly, I am always completely lost whenever time travel is involved, yet I didn’t miss a step! Her aunt always warned Clementine to never fall in love with anyone she meets inside the apartment – it's like a gateway to another time and any relationship would surely end in disaster and yet she also tells her, “You always know… you always know the moment you fall.”I sincerely appreciated that this book centers around the endearing relationship between an aunt and her niece because I had an aunt that made a profound impact on my life and I hope to do the same for my nieces and nephews.I was hooked by the dedication, “For all the food lovers out there who burn popcorn in the microwave: we’d be too strong if we could cook, too” 😆🍿 and the dozen or so characters are equal parts charming and believable. Ashley Poston will have you laughing, crying, and believing in an unyielding earnest love that spans the ages.Pros:- Effortless dialogue and flirty banter- A unique meet-cute that makes you believe in magic- Genuine friendship and found-family- A heartbreakingly honest approach to grief and sudden loss

Review: Wow, this book was an intriguing and engaging read. If you were ever captivated by the magic of the wardrobe in C. S. Lewis’s Narnia Chronicles, you’ll love the idea of an apartment that can slip in time, but be aware, only in increments of seven years. Even though I am not a big reader of magic or science fiction, I loved this book and the old world charm and the mystery of Clementine’s New York apartment. The setting, the romance and the personal relationships that are chronicled are beautifully crafted by the author Ashley Poston. If you get a chance, pick up this book, sit back, relax and loose yourself in this heartfelt and bewitching story.

Review: Demorou dois meses pra chegar e a jacket veio amassadinha, porque a amazon não se importa mais em colocar livro em caixa pra proteger. Mas o livro é bem bonito e estou ansiosa pra leitura

Review: This book is a beautifully written romance. Initially, I wasn't sure how l'd feel about the time slip element, but to my surprise, it was masterfully woven into the story. I found myself utterly charmed by the male lead-he's so good with his words, so well spoken, passionate, and just so endearing. The nickname „Lemon" had me melting every time it was used! What I appreciate is that it features a smart, mature couple with none of the typical naive miscommunications that often frustrate readers. Plus, the way the story evolves into the perfect relationship had me hooked. I knew this book was special because I couldn't stop myself from sharing every chapter's events with my partner.- Beautiful quotes- A genuinely intelligent couple- Time travel- Right place. Wrong time
