“Look, you’re a nice girl but I don’t think we should see each other anymore.” The voicemail ends and I freeze in the dentist’s chair as I realize… I’ve just been dumped on live radio.
It took the most humiliating break-up for me to see that my life is in serious need of a do-over. Cue my anti New Year’s resolutions that even I can’t fail at:Stop dating. (Men are the worst.)Stop trying to lose weight. (I’m never giving up chocolate.)Stop working so hard. (Selling mortgages is not my dream career.)Stop trying to live up to unrealistic expectations. (Start living my best life.)Stop trying to please my mother. (It’s not possible.)
But it turns out number five is harder than I thought, as she begins her campaign to get me back with my ex. So, what’s the perfect solution to keep her out of my love life? An imaginary boyfriend—at least he was supposed to be imaginary until I blurted out my neighbor’s name…
Nate, the bad boy next door with gorgeous hazel eyes, a razor-sharp jawline and a mysterious scar, might be hot, but he’s definitely not my boyfriend. Now all I need to do is stick to my resolutions while also keeping my interfering family away from my non-existent lover who has no idea that we’re fake dating. What could possibly go wrong?
A completely addictive, feel-good rom-com perfect for fans of TikTok sensations The Love Hypothesis, The Unhoneymooners, and Sarah Adams. An absolutely hilarious page-turner for anyone who feels they need to start living life to the fullest.
Readers can’t get enough of The Do-Over:

Title: So much fun!! Finding yourself!
Review: So funny! So, this is a romance novel with zero spice, only kissing. BUT, I didn't even miss it because the story sucked me in so well! The love interest doesn't really show up until 45% through the book. Perci has a lovely but difficult family, a dream of a best friend, and a lot of family trauma. She is so relatable and sweet. I lived how she feels so real and the comedy is not written to make her seem stupid, clumsy, or airheaded. She had tons of character development. Her H we didn't get to know near as well as this is a single POV story, but he still did some growing. This book is really more about the power obtained through accepting yourself and healing and healthy relationships, so Nate just gets off easy. He just isn't the focus. Very good; great editing, great story, so well written. Family friendly, no spice.

Title: cute and funny
Review: And a little cheesy but itâs nice to read something that has no agenda other than to entertain. Itâs nice when the chubby girl gets the guy and finds comfort in her own skin.

Title: Slow burn with lots of character growth
Review: I enjoyed this book. It had humor but it also dealt with real situations and characters that were flawed and yet endearing. The romance for the MFC was a slow burn and a surprise to her when her "fake boyfriend" becomes a real one. This is Sharon M. Peterson's debut novel, but I discovered her other novels first. I enjoy her writing style, relatable characters, and the humor that she weaves through her stories. I highly recommend her as an author.

Title: Wow
Review: I read so many books and I very rarely leave reviews but this book stunned me. I was and am dealing with many of the same issues Perci was and it really was amazing how Ms. Peterson dealt with them, having her character grow. This book was so well written, very believable, real and absolutely hilarious.

Title: Disappointed this book was not laugh out loud funny.
Review: The reviews that follow the book description are false. I only laughed out loud twice. I was into chapter 15 by then. It will not make you snort your drink out your nose. It is a cute story but after such glowing reviews I expected so much more.Perci is a people pleaser. And her mom is a control freak. We are talking mom picks her outfits out & chooses her boyfriends. That last part would be horrible! She is also constantly on her about her weight her weight too. Whenever she eats with her mom she points out how many calories everything has. She buys her spanks , diet pills, & workout videos.Mathias is her best friend who is a photographer for beauty patent contestants. And he's in love with her sister. Poor Mathais gets up the courage to finally tell her how he feels. Only when he shows up her verbally abusive boyfriend proposes & she says yes. On New Years Eve Perci is complaining about how she never candidate meet her resolutions. Mathais decides to give her a list of things to do that will ultimately change her life forever. That is if she can stick to the changes.Nate is the neighbor next door. Perci keeps getting his mail. When she delivers it to him she can't stop talking. She has a problem with talking too much when she's nervous. Nate has a 10 year old daughter. The mother died of breast cancer. Nate works for a construction company. When Perci has had enough of working in a job she hates & her ex boyfriend is her boss she quits. She has no plans on what to do next but she feels lighter already. She finds a job down the street at a daycare/preschool. Which her mother is repulsed by. She starts by buying some work clothes. Adding color to her wardrobe. Mathias has to leave town & talks Perci into talking to a bunch of women at Hope House. Later she learns they have all just gotten out of prison. However, she keeps volunteering. Pedro's mom won't stop trying to fix her up with her ex boyfriend. So Perci lies & says she is dating her neighbor, Nate. She never bothers to tell him because she didn't think they would ever meet. Her whole family minus her dad show up to go bowling. Mathais brings a girl. And then low & behold Nate & his daughter show up. Perci has to pull him aside & explain that she lied and her family thinks he's her boyfriend. She never expected him to agree. They put on a good show. She even gets a toe curling kiss from him. Perci finds out that Nate is going to college in the evenings. She volunteers to watch his daughter on those nights. She loves that girl. Even though she is obsessed with animals. When his daughter eats half a cookie that has peanut butter in it because Perci didn't know she has an allergic reaction. Nate breaks up with her.Can Mathias convince her sister to break her engagement? And can they ever get their mom to stop meddling in their lives? Will Nate & Perci be done for good or will they get back together?

Title: A Different "make-over" Book
Review: I have always enjoyed "transformation" stories, so the title, "The Do-over" attracted me to this book. It was also advertised as funny, and I like humor. However, instead of becoming a skinny, glamorous woman--the heroine focuses on getting to know and be herself. And this pays off for her big-time at the book's end. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to get to know themselves better.

Title: This book is a laugh out loud satisfying romance!
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed rooting for the main character! This book is a laugh out loud satisfying romance with a main character that is complex and awkward. I mean awkward, laugh out loud, no coming back from that awkward. She isnât saved from herself instead she learns to accept herself. Her romantic interest, well I donât want to give too much away. Letâs just say the romance is everything you want for the main character and is fun to read without becoming a book you canât recommend. Itâs not weak writing between X-rated scenes, itâs a complete story from beginning to end with humor, character development and romance throughout.I think Mimi needs a book of her own, I think sheâd agree.

Review: I loved this hilarious and emotional book. I so felt for Persephone, otherwise known as Perci, especially in the opening scenes of the book. The set-up of the plot was exceptional and anyone who has ever faced weight challenges and/or relationship issues and/or family problems could relate to her dilemma. I loved the character of Mimi and her place in Perciâs family structure. The evolution of Perci and the development of a romantic relationship was much appreciated and believable. I canât wait to read Sharon M. Petersons other books and even if they are only half as enjoyable as this book they will be wonderful reads.

Review: I was not expecting anything when I started reading the book. But turned out that this was a non stopper. After several sleeping through books and boring ones, this is definitely the best in a while. Reinventing heroine is not a new story. But hilariously doing it deserves a mention. Kudos!!!
