Title: Roomba i4 does a great job
Review: It took over an hour for the Roomba to map my main floor (1200 sq. ft.). I'm still trying to figure out tricks with it - such as why did it miss the kitchen when there was nothing in the way. However, I must say this little guy does a great job once it goes and vacuums. The waste container is small, but that is probably good if you have small children and need to go through the waste to find out what treasures it may have picked up! I held off getting one for years, feeling I was just being lazy, but now that I have it, I wish I would have done it sooner. It does a better job than my upright vacuum. Plus, with my upright, I can smell dust (which I'm allergic to) when I'm done. With the Roomba i4, I don't smell dust at all!

Title: AFTER NEARLY A YEAR OF PHONE CALLS, FINALLY A REFUND ON THIS LEMON
Review: If you got stuck with this lemon too, don’t give up. You have to call Amazon Customer Service and demand to speak to a supervisor. Tell them the numerous times you’ve been referred back to iRobot only to be jerked around for an hour or two and never assisted. Doesn’t hurt to mention how long you have been an Amazon Customer and how much you spend on Amazon every year. For me, it’s quite a bit. The supervisor I spoke to was very helpful and understanding, finally, and had the authority to issue a refund to me even after 11 months. I have been trying to return this lemon since the first week I owned it, but I kept getting referred back to iRobot and they refused to help at all. Mainly they just keep you on the phone for an hour making you jump through all these ridiculous hoops. Or trying to sell you two rollers for $35 when I can get 500 of them for six dollars on Amazon. They actually had the nerve to tell me they had no record of any of my previous calls, of which there were at least five. The Amazon supervisor I spoke to said that he would send my complaint up the chain of command, so to speak, to be investigated by a specialty team because I mentioned how many very unhappy customers have left reviews like mine on this page. Supposedly, the issue will be addressed.I’ve been calling Amazon and iRobot for nearly a year, and Irobot must have a general policy of flatly refusing to help customers having problems with this model. Even the first week they would not accept a return and later on they would not allow me to send it in while still under warranty to have it checked out to see why it is not working properly. Fact, it’s just a poor design and they know it and they’re dumping lemons on Amazon. I just read all the one and two star reviews, and it’s exactly what’s been happening with mine.DON’T GIVE UP. CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE AGAIN. DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO REFER YOU TO IROBOT. EXPRESS YOUR DISAPPOINTMENT WITH AMAZON AFTER SO MANY YEARS OF EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE. MENTION HOW MANY CALLS YOU HAVE MADE TO IROBOT ONLY TO HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE RUNAROUND AND OFFERED NO HELP WHATSOEVER. DO NOT STOP UNTIL YOU GET TO SPEAK TO AN AMAZON CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPERVISER AND GET YOUR REFUND.

Title: Several annoying kinks but overall happy
Review: Overall, I'm happy that I bought this vacuum. I got it on half price, about $230, and you can't beat that for a smart mapping vacuum. I have two, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. I can't believe all the stuff it picks up. Parts of the vacuum have been pretty frustrating though. When I first tried to map the house, it took an entire day because after several hours the vacuum had supposedly mapped everything, and then when I went to pull up the map to label it, everything disappeared. I had to run it three times before it mapped the floor successfully. It was annoying because I picked up literally everything off the floor and put in a ton of work, making my house unusable for a day, and then it took so long that I was barely able to get the smart mapping done in time so I could take the chairs and stuff off my bed to have a bed to go to sleep. My other frustration is that they get stuck very easily. In a month of running each vacuum a couple times a week at least, I think I've had up to five successful runs where the vacuum hasn't gotten stuck at some point. It gets stuck on different things, like the legs of the stool or table legs or under the edge of the couch. Or, even though I intentionally pick everything up off the floor the night of the scheduled run, some one thing manages to get in the Roomba. A little set of ear plugs, a metal Pokemon card (why didn't it just go over the flat card on tile?).... When it gets stuck, instead of shutting off to save the battery once it realizes that it is stuck, it just keeps going, so the battery dies. Then the vacuum won't return to its home and I have to return it. Getting them docked again is really frustrating because the docking is really finicky, so I have to wiggle the vacuum all around for up to five minutes! Then I have to walk the floor and see which rooms got done before it got stuck, and I have to run it again for the rooms that it didn't get to.And it is loud! We usually run it at night due to the noise, with the nice scheduling function, but that's part of why the Roombas get stuck and then run out of battery. I'm sleeping and don't fix it fast enough. Then I have to run it during the day anyway to get the rooms it didn't get while getting stuck. This was meant to be something I didn't have to think about, but now it's like a low maintenance pet I have to keep track of.FYI, the Roomba will only save one map at a time, so you can't have one Roomba and two floors of your house. That's okay with me because I don't want to haul the whole thing up and down every time I want to vacuum, but it does mean that your up front investment doubles. Also, I was under the impression that the Roomba smart mapping would do one room, then move to the next, and leave parallel lines of vacuum marks, which I really wanted. In reality, the Roomba goes seemingly randomly between rooms over and over doing sections for the whole period it is cleaning. That means that I have to keep all the kitchen chairs and table squashed against the wall for hours at a time instead of being able to say, "The kitchen is done, now we can use the table again while it finishes the rest of the house." It also means that there are random diagonal lines on top of the parallel vacuum lines, so you don't get the pretty look.Despite the smart mapping, the vacuum still pushes against the wall over and over, trying to get to the edges I guess but the front is getting scratched up after just a month. I'm worried about how long the sensor will function.I haven't figured out a pattern to this annoying phenomenon yet. Sometimes when it's supposed to do a normal vacuum run, it goes into "discovering and cleaning" mode which makes the vacuum even more unpredictable (see my complaint about not completing one room at a time), and runs for several hours. Last night it was supposed to vacuum the bottom floor of my house, beginning at 11pm, which should have taken a few hours. Instead, I turned it off when it came back into our room at 5am so loud that it woke me (see complaint about sound). This bothers me so much that I contacted customer support. They gave the reason that the vacuum supposedly continues to learn about the environment, which is why it does this super long run at least once a week and could potentially be a cool feature I guess, but I don't see the vacuum adjusting anything. Like I said earlier, it still bumps against all the edges of things and the walls.(Wow, I didn't realize how many things I dislike about this vacuum until writing this review.)But like I said, I can't believe how much the vacuum picks up. It gets much more than my regular vacuum. I don't even know how so much crap ends up on my carpet after only a week. We don't even have pets.I like the feature of setting a job to do any number and choice of rooms at any time from my phone. I wanted the app.So it remains to be seen how long the vacuum will work when it looks pretty scratched up on the front, and it will continue to be annoying to not just be able to set the auto function and let it go, since it always gets stuck.

Review: Would absolutely recommend this product, it is a huge time saver. Works well, needs maintenance and care every few months. The only downside is the dirt bin has to be emptied every 2-3 days (depending on how much dirt it cleans). It is also quite loud, and I only run it when I’m out of the house as it is quite noisy. Really good value for the price!

Review: Good product design and software updates as compared to my older Roomba, resulting in better cleaning capability (stronger suction), and smarter tech (maps the rooms quite well) and App controls are easy to use.Needs to be cleaned at least every other cycle for optimum performance and longevity. The smaller dirt bin adds to the frequency. Product is worth the cost when bought on sale.Roomba are the pioneers of the residential robot vac, so wanted to stick with a product I knew from a company that has continued to invest in this technology. Can't comment on their tech support as I have not had to use it, and hopefully never will.

Review: Pretty good for the price. When it works without issues I love it and it's a real time saver. Unfortunately, sometimes it acts up and thinks it's "stuck on a cliff" when near a rug or wall or needs to be emptied when it's not even half way full.I would estimate that its works amazing 80% of the time and then is very frustratingly bad and useless 20% of the time.Overall for the price I'm still happy with it.

Review: So far, we’re really liking this little guy. Does a great job of cleaning up basic dirt and pet hair. Because of our cat, we do have lots of pet hair, and the small dustbin fills up pretty quickly. We possibly should’ve got the plus model that has the homebase dustbin that it empties into, but for the price of $130 through an open box warehouse deal we couldn’t pass it up.It mapped our upstairs pretty well. It took about 45 minutes to map a living room, kitchen and three bedrooms and hallway. And it’s really cool to be able to say “Alexa, ask Roomba to clean the kitchen… or Alexa, ask Roomba to clean the bedrooms” once you have favourites set for a room or combination of rooms. Of course you can have it clean everywhere all at once as well.Noise level isn’t bad at all. It’s quieter than I expected after seeing reviews and videos of it. Much like my video it comes across on camera. It’s stairs/cliff detection is really good. It gets right up to the edge and then stops. We haven’t had any issues with stairs yet. And the portable barrier thing it comes with that you can place anywhere stops it from going behind our couch and getting stuck.Object detection works well, it navigates itself around tables, cat stands, and anything that’s been on our floor quite well. We’re impressed.

Customers say

Customers have negative opinions about the mapping accuracy of the robotic vacuum cleaner. They mention it has zero navigation skills and can only map one level. Customers also have issues with the quality and noise level. Opinions differ on its functionality, cleaning ability, ease of use, suction power, and value for money.
