Title: Best salt and pepper grinders I've ever had!
Review: They grind so finely and nicely and look so handsome to boot. They do tend to make a bit of a mess on my counter, so I've gotten a little tray to sit them on, but for cooks, these are excellent grinders!

Review: My only complaint is that the metal knob at the top can slowly unscrew itself as you use the grinder, so you have to keep tightening it every so often. I think these grinders look attractive and seem durable, and they work really well as long as you remember to keep tightening that top metal knob occasionally.

Title: Fine vs. Coarse Grind
Review: I think these salt and pepper shakers are beautiful and I'm very happy to have them. They go great with my kitchen cabinet doors.Someone mentioned (and I found this to be the case) the shaker may only produce a fine grind. However this can be fixed, so I thought I would mention it. There are two factors for the coarseness of the grind.First, the screw on top. If it is cinched down, the grind will be fine. If it is loosened a bit, the opening at the bottom gets bigger, and coarser grind will fall out.Second, there is a plate on the bottom. If this plate is set too tightly the bottom cannot open very far. You will only get a fine grind. One of my grinders had this problem. This is a factory setting but you can override it by barely loosening these screws with an eyeglass screwdriver. When it is a bit looser then the opening has room to enlarge and coarser particles can fall out. Obviously don't loosen them so much the screws fall into the meal you are preparing. That would be bad.Finally the ground seasoning will get stuck in the grinder, which means once you have it full of grind, it will be difficult to tighten up the setting for a fine grind. Choose a coarseness you like for each seasoning, and plan to stick to it to avoid cleaning out the grinder when you change settings.I believe I have understood what is going on, but the manufacturer may correct this information.
