Title: Efficient Strawberry Slicer - A Must-Have for Freeze Drying Enthusiasts!
Review: We purchased this strawberry slicer specifically for our freeze-drying projects, and it has been a game-changer in our food preparation process. Here's our experience:Pros:1. Efficiency: When processing large quantities (20+ pounds) of strawberries for freeze-drying, this tool significantly speeds up the slicing process.2. Consistency: The slicer produces uniform slices, which is crucial for even freeze-drying and a visually appealing end product.3. Ease of Use: The slicer is straightforward to operate, making the task of preparing large batches much less daunting.4. Time-Saving: It has drastically reduced the time we spend on strawberry preparation.5. Quality Results: We love the look of the sliced strawberries - they're perfect for freeze-drying and create an attractive final product.Cons:1. Cleaning Challenge: The only minor drawback is that strawberry seeds can get caught in the crevices of the slicer. This requires a bit of extra attention during cleaning, often needing a sharp knife or specialized tool to thoroughly clean out these areas.Despite the slight cleaning inconvenience, the pros far outweigh this single con. The time and effort saved during the slicing process more than make up for the few extra minutes spent on thorough cleaning. For anyone who regularly processes large quantities of strawberries, especially for freeze-drying, this slicer is an invaluable tool. It has significantly improved our efficiency and the quality of our freeze-dried strawberries. We would definitely purchase this product again and highly recommend it to other freeze-drying enthusiasts or anyone who frequently prepares large quantities of strawberries. It's a worthwhile investment that pays off in time saved and consistently sliced fruit.ââââââââââââââââ

Title: Wow! A gadget that works!
Review: 5-21-2012 Update to original review:I've had this for 18 months and it's still working fine. I put it in the dishwasher (although I give it a rinse first with a brush) and it's never turned black like some of the reviewers experienced. Maybe it's the brand of dishwasher detergent or the water or a combination. I'm on a well so we have no chlorine. Perhaps chlorinated water combines with the dishwasher detergent and causes the discoloration. Are they corroding, too?It hasn't gone dull, although occasionally the blades don't come together quite right. I've found it's also good for olives, kiwis, and canned baby corn. I wish it were bigger though. The company should make them bigger and all stainless since they are turning black!I bought them for friends and they like them. I even keep a couple of spares to use as hostess gifts instead of wine. I still think it's one of the best gadgets I've ever bought. Just don't buy huge mushrooms (the smaller ones with the tight caps are better, anyway).Original review 12-10I don't know how many of those stupid wire egg slicers I've destroyed over the years. I like hard boiled eggs sliced up and heated up with a little butter in the morning. How many mornings of my life have I stressed out after breaking the wires on yet another slicer? Those days are over. This tool restored my inner peace, and whoever the engineer who designed this is, she has guaranteed good karma coming to her for her contribution in making the world a calmer and better place ;-). I'm buying them for my friends so that they, too, can enjoy the satisfaction of using a gadget that actually works!OK, a little technical stuff. The blades are metal, so they won't break. It's easy to clean with the sprayer on my sink. I've had mine over 6 months and no coatings have worn off, it's been in the dishwasher many times, the spring is still good, and it's still sharp. It's not a piece of junk. I wish it were about 1/2 wider for those monster mushrooms, but it's fine for most of them. I've sliced cheese and tofu with it, too, once they were in strips. It's nifty! My 7 year old helps making salads just so he can play with it. Buy one! Or 3! No, I don't work for the company.

Title: Works well
Review: I like the blades instead of wires because they are sturdier and should last longer. However, I canât find a way to sharpen the blades when they get dull. The holding cup is good for small to medium size mushrooms, but larger ones get squished - I had to cut both ends off to fit them in for slicing. Depending on the mushroom type, it needs a hard press with both hands to cut through. The cut isnât as clean as I would like, but it does make quick work of slicing, and you donât see jagged or ragged mushrooms in the final product. In summary, the only advantage I find as compared to hand slicing with a knife is saving time.

Title: Sturdy
Review: This replaced a plastic one from HSN which we had for 15 years. Works good.
Customers say
Customers like the sturdiness and ease of use of the food slicer. They mention it works well, is sturdy, and holds up to strawberries, mushrooms, eggs, and more. Some appreciate its time-saving features. However, some customers have reported that the appearance is dull and loses its finish. They also dislike the size. Opinions are mixed on the slicing speed and ease of cleaning.
