There was a time when our past cinematic idea of the future bordered on the visionary and the absurd. We were on the cusp of the Atomic Age and anything was possible. Then, when our National Space Program started to launch rockets into space, the science fiction movie genre exploded onto the big screen, exploiting our curiosities and fears of the cosmic unknown. Science fiction producers pandered to the public with questionable scientific discoveries and partial truths involving science of the future. The plots, while not completely believable, offered situations that featured different laws of science, separate from those known from past or present, and embraced the concepts of environmental change, space travel, and life on other planets, among others. All great fodder for filmmakers. This Sci-Fi Cult Classics 3 DVD Collector's Set brings you 12 select films that helped define the emerging days of science fiction in films from the late 1920's through the late 1960's. 12 Titles Included: 1. Metropolis (1927) 2. Phantom from Space (1953) 3. Attack of the Giant Leeches (1959) 4. The Giant Gila Monster (1959) 5. The Killer Shrews (1959) 6. Teenagers from Outer Space (1959) 7. The Amazing Transparent Man (1960) 8. The Wasp Woman (1960) 9. The Phantom Planet (1961) 10. The Brain that Wouldn't Die (1962) 11. The Atomic Brain (1964) 12. Destroy All Planets (1969) Bonus Features: 1. Individual Synopses 2. Photo Gallery

Title: Great sci-fi movies I really like them
Review: Great movies nothing more to say about them. They are great. I saw him when I was a kid and I’m still watching them now when I’m 76 years old.

Title: Fantastic!
Review: Fantastic collection of old black and white movies! They are shown in the original film. I don't understand the negative reviews. For the vintage Sci-fi cult collector, you don't expect today's clarity. You enjoy the plots and no cussing or inappropriate scenes. I loved it! Thank you!

Title: I’m happy with it
Review: Their was only 2 movies on this that I didn’t care for which are Metropolis-because it is a silent movie (even though it’s apparently one of the best silent film era sci fi features). And Destroy All Planets-due to the fact that it is a Japanese film and therefore Japanese is the language spoken…as far as whether or not it has English subtitles well I’m not sure (as I didn’t attempt to watch it due to it being made in a foreign language) however I would imagine that it is.

Title: Old school fun
Review: 12 movies from various decades, but mostly from the golden age of goofy movies, though a couple in here are actually good in their own right. A great value and tons of fun if you like old sci-fi.

Review: For getting a headache. Audio and Video of very low quality. Very slow pace. Boring. All about nothing. Had ecpected some lesser quality but not this bad.

Review: After trying to watch the first three movies after Metropolis, which I skipped on the advice of others here, I gave up. The video quality was abysmal, much worse than anything I've seen before. This was a straight-up waste of money and time as I'm not going to bother trying any more of them.
