Title: Love this book!
Review: I had this book for years and was going to copy a couple recipes from it for a friend when, on a whim, I searched for it and was thrilled to find it was still available after all this time, so I ordered a copy for my friend, who is also thrilled with it. If you like scones, there is a nice variety of recipes, most are pretty easy and although I haven't made every recipe, I've made many of them and haven't found one I didn't like, yet.

Review: A few of my favorite recipes:Blueberry Coffee Cake Scones - it has a streusel toppingCheese Scones - Cheddar and Parmesan cheese with a dash of red pepper. I served it with chili one night.Apple Oatmeal Scones - with apples, dates, oatmeal and molasses it's a hearty scone and a great on the go breakfast.Citrus Curd - I love lemon curd and this recipe takes it to another level with a bit of orange juice and peel.Table of Contents:Metric and Imperial ConversionsIntroduction: Ensconced in SconesSweet Scones (examples: chocolate chip orange, gingerbread, raspberry filled almond)Savory Scones (examples: hearty grain, potato bacon, rye caraway)Spreads (examples: curd, clotted cream, maple butter)The Perfect Tea (the authors guide you through some tea time etiquette and ideas)IndexThe recipes call for you to place the scone batter on a buttered 8-9 circle on a cookie sheet, then cut the scones yourself, then bake, and if necessary re-cut. I also received a scone pan for Christmas and I would highly recommend it. The baking temperature and time does not change and the amount of batter is perfect for the pan.My only gripe about this book is its size, about 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches, and the binding; it's next to impossible to keep the page open face up. I like my cook books to be able to remain open for easy access. Other than that this is a fantastic little book.Scones make delectable treats for afternoon tea, breakfast, lunch, even midnight snacks. Title: Classic cream scones are ultimate - packs a lot of recipes in a small space!
Review: I've used many of these recipes over the years, and all have been great. When we lost our house in a fire this summer, this was one of the first cookbooks I needed to replace because I used it every time I make scones. There are larger, more elaborate books out there, but this one is practical and usable, and has the BEST recipes. Directions are easy, results are amazing. The 'Classic Cream Scones' are my all-time favorite scones, but the Apriocot, White Chocolate, and Walnut scones come in a close second. Macadamia Banana Praline and Chocolate Chip Orange are also favorites. And that's just in the 'sweet' section. The savory scones, like Pesto Cheese, Potato Bacon, and Tex-Mex, are another great take on scones, and I love the section of 'spreads' recipes at the back. This book is tiny, but contains a lot of recipes for such a small space. All are simple to make, and simply delicious! If I could only have 1 'teatime' book, this would be the one I would choose.

Title: Used this book for at least 10 years.
Review: I have used "Simply Scones" for at least 10 years. I had a B&B in New Hampshire and the guest preferred scones to muffins or coffeecake. I always made them smaller (dividing the dough into more sections and cutting them in eights) as the larger scones went to waste. You can get at least 24 out of a recipe with three disks cut into eights. My favorite is the "Apricot, White Chocolate, and Walnut Scones". I use this recipe as a base and add other fruits and flavorings. No matter where I take these scones I get asked for the recipe. I have recommened this book countless times over the years. The scones freeze well before baking (and after) and I usually make them the night before and put them in the refrigerator then bake in the morning. Frozen scones bake well after sitting out about a half hour before baking. I have been happy with every recipe I tried. Also have the muffin book by the same authors. That is very good as well.

Title: 'Mini-Encyclopedia' of Scones at your fingertips
Review: Great for bringing along to a friends house, giving as a gift, or using yourself! I've tried 5 or 6 types of scones from this book and they've all worked fabulously. From simple to fancy, salty to sweet this little book packs a punch. It's portable size is great for leaving in a nook in the kitchen without taking up a lot of space. I've even used the converter measurement guide included to get me through cooking in different countries. The recipes are flexible and work well even when adapted- my partner (who is a salty guy) is even a fan of the sweeter scones. Great value overall.

Title: It has no recipe photos.
Review: This book is tiny, smaller than I anticipated, but recipes seem straight forward & plenty of choices. I hate that it doesnât have any scone pictures, thatâs what is often tantalizing about making something, it looks delectable & you want to try baking it.I also like that it has little tips & tricks, so thatâs a plus, but the book does not stay open to read the recipe. So several pros & cons.

Review: In a rather small and concise book, you'll find everything you need to know to treat your family and friends on every possible occasion - even (almost "above all", without a special occasion). That seems so simple, non-original to bake scones that we've almost forgotten how delicious and sophisticated they can really be. You'll not find photos in this book, but who cares ? The only image you'll get will be that of your achievement. A precious and inexpensive little book to have at hand anytime !
