AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Listen, this book is boring. We're telling you it's boring. It's in the title of the book―in fact, it's THE MOST BORING BOOK EVER! And created by #1 New York Times bestsellers Brandon Sanderson and Kazu Kibuishi!

Don't peek behind the cover! Don't look at the pictures! And definitely don't follow along with the rip-roaring adventure the boy is experiencing. Stay focused on mundane things like sitting in chairs and doing homework. Any report of dragons or marauding airships is ridiculous! This book is BORING!

"Acclaimed best-seller Brandon Sanderson has great fun with The Most Boring Book Ever, which―spoiler alert―is a lot more dangerous and exciting than it pretends to be." ―Parade Magazine

Title: Such a fun read.
Review: I was giving a lesson on the importance of visualizing what you read. I left on the book jacket, which is plain white on the back, and I read the words without showing the pictures. The story is very boring, about a boy who sits in a chair and looks at birds. Definitely, a boring book. Then l took off the book jacket to reveal the cover--a brilliant, high-relief, wrap-around image of a dragon. The illustrations fill in the gaps about a boy who sits in his chair...as he gets blasted into the clouds! And he indeed watches for birds, but they turn out to be dragons!A very effective lesson about how you can use your imagination to visualize what you read. The illustrations are dynamic and colorful, with a slight steampunk, Ghibli vibe.I gave this lesson to three separate classes of 4th grade students. Each group was in agreement that it was the greatest boring book they had ever seen.

Title: Great book!
Review: If you just read the words it is the most boring book ever! I was reading it and my other son was not looking at the pictures and said “ that is boring.” Combined with the beautiful illustration it is such a fantastic and enjoyable book! We highly recommend it! You discover new things with each read and view.

Title: Very fun book
Review: I don't want to give too much away, so I'll try to keep it simple. This book is for the eyes and the mind and the brain all at once. Each page only has a single, simple sentence to read. Then there are beautiful, elaborate pictures to look at, and then it's up to the creativity of the mind to deduce the rest of the story. I have thoroughly enjoyed it, and so have all the children I've shared it with.

Title: It actually is boring - so disappointed.
Review: Wish we didn’t buy this book. I own everything Brandon Sanderson has ever written, I’ve backed his kickstarters, and I own all of the leather bound collector’s editions of everything ever printed. We also have everything ever done by Kibuishi as well; his Amulet series is one of my son’s favorites. We were beyond excited to get this book on pre-order. While the illustrations were amazing, the book was a total let-down. When we finished it, my son said, “It really was boring.” I tried to encourage him to see the irony, that there was this whole airborne pirate backstory to it, and it actually had a ton of action it it, but inside I totally agreed. It’s not the kind of book you can read more than once or twice. Fine to get from the library, but not to buy. Was hoping at least some of Brandon’s writing would be showcased, but the text was the blandest you can imagine. So disappointed.

Title: Great book involving imagination
Review: This book won't be for everyone. Some people will think that there should be more of a story line from the text. My 4 year old daughter and I enjoyed it as is.In my opinion, part of what's great about this is the idea of using your imagination while doing boring, mundane tasks, like math and laundry. The text describes what is going on from the perspective of someone who might be observing the boy sitting in the chair, which is only that the bit is sitting, doing laundry and math homework. The illustrations show what the boy is imagining, which is anything but boring. The boy in the story uses his imagination to make what would otherwise be boring tasks, fun and exciting. This could be helpful for showing kids what they can do with their imagination, and provide encouragement that is ok to imagine things while doing otherwise biting tasks.

Title: Cute idea, but a little underwhelming
Review: This book is beautiful. It's a tongue-in-cheek children's book about a sullen narrator being bored while lots of exciting stuff happens all around him. I like the idea, but my problem is that the exciting stuff happening all around him just isn't exciting enough! The illustrations themselves are gorgeous, but my 5 year old daughter would look at each page for just a second, sometimes two, see what's happening and move on wondering when it would get interesting. Clearly there's a wider story going on, but there's not enough prompting or clues to get a 5-year-old to really imagine it. The background is really supposed to be the star of this book, but for my daughter it was just background, leaving it a very boring book. I think there just needs to be more of it... more variety on each page, more cause-and-effect interactions, more surprises to really make a 5 year old take note and think about them.I enjoyed the book a lot more than my daughter did, so I'm curious to see if her views on it become more favorable or more detailed as she gets older.

Title: Title is accurate - it’s pretty boring.
Review: The writing in this book is meant to be ironically boring while a bunch of crazy stuff happens in the background imagery. While the artwork is gorgeous, the re-readability is extremely low and kids lost interest pretty quickly.Brandon Sanderson remains one of my favorite authors but this feels like a money grab more than something that needed to be published.

Title: Motivates interaction and creativity
Review: The art in the book is everything, just beautiful and fantastical, while the test is, well, boring. But by it being “boring”, it leaves creativity to the child, which is why I believe this is a great interactive-like book to motivate just that: creativity. My only issue has nothing to do with the book itself (so it does not affect my rating). I received the book in a bag, and the book arrived extremely bent. I managed to rectify it slightly, but the damage had been done, and the marks left behind.

Review: Read this with my 4 and 8 yr olds. We all got a good chuckle out of it! What could have been read in under a minute took 15 mins as their imaginations ran wild. Beautiful book that will be cherished for many years to come.

Review: Brilliant book that encourages imagination, humour and creativity in a novel way. Don't want to spoil it, but the artwork and the story-telling is both amazing. The only issue I was that the book slip cover was damaged, and had been folded incorrectly so it keeps coming off and/or catching on things. Can't tell if this is a problem with the production of the book, or the way the seller sent the item but my kids love it too much to me want to return it.Great book for children between 2-7
