Fulton Oursler's outstanding classic The Greatest Story Ever Told narrates the ever-new, everlasting story of the life of Jesus Christ. Written with powerful simplicity and set against a rich and accurate historical background, this account of the greatest life ever lived describes the moving story of Christ's nativity, the flight of the Holy Family into Egypt, Christ's youth, His public ministry, passion, death, and resurrection.

While there have been many lives of Christ published, few have received so wide a popular acclamation as Fulton Oursler's classic tale. Since it was first published in 1949, when it was instantly acclaimed by both the secular and lay press and endorsed by clergy of all faiths, The Greatest Story Ever Told has gone into scores of printings, has been read by millions, and is one of the most successful bestsellers of all time. The life of Christ is certainly the greatest story ever told, and Fulton Oursler has told it superbly well.

Title: I’m re-adding this book to my library
Review: The Greatest Story Ever Told. This book is in great shape, it’s a hard back with a nice jacket. It arrived fairly quickly and came in a nice box. I’m excited to start reading this again - about 40-45 years later. I remember being transported in my mind to Jesus’ side. Beautiful story. Lots of Archeological information that helps you understand some of the Bible’s “why questions” more fully. This copy is in big print and I’m enjoying that! EXCELLENT READ.

Title: Truly the "Greatest Story ever Told"
Review: Fascinating take on the life of Christ written with factual events from the gospels mixed with the author's vast imagination of what 1st Century Israel may have looked like. From the introduction of Barabbas to Pilate's court, it's a very good book to read and contemplate. Every character is brought into vivid detail and makes you kind of know and care about them from the poor and oppressed who meet Christ to those who are his greatest enemies. Fabulous book and something you'll always treasure!

Title: An Eye Opening Experience.
Review: I missed reading the "Greatest" books years ago when they first came out. Too busy with kids and job. Recently I have been going to to read a lot of books I missed. this one is just so fulfilling. Few of us are historians of any achievement, and it is difficult to appreciate the life of Christ without a context in which to view it. Putting all of the events of his life in a chronological sequence set within the history and culture of his time makes his life so much more real to the reader. For the layman this is truly a gift. I do wish I had ready it much earlier in my lifetime, but better late than never. I will surely read the rest of the trilogy.

Title: The Greatest Story Ever Told
Review: I bought this product as part of a Unit Study for my oldest son who wanted to study the Roman Empire. We started listening to it in our car. It is very entertaining. I have two other children who listen as well, everyone is quiet while it is on because it is very well told. I think this would be great just to buy and listen to!

Title: Excellent adjunct to the Bible
Review: This is a straight forward re-telling of the story of the gospel in a novel-like form. Oursler takes no liberties with the gospel message, but he does add some color to the story with historical details about the way people lived at the time. The types of housing, the food they ate, their modes of travel and even the details of Mary and Joseph’s romance give more substance and connection to the life of Jesus.I enjoyed the book very much, especially reading the story of Jesus’s birth at Christmas time as I was. Written in the 1940s there are some phrases that seemed racist, and some caricature characters that were unnecessary, but overall the message is heartfelt.

Title: More than worth the money
Review: This book and the other two that are in the trilogy are really wonderful. If you want to read the Bible in a language you really understand that isnot a fiction novel read this. Mary, Joseph and Jesus come alive on the pages. It firmly keeps true to the bible event by event. To use a pun ; it's the gospel truth. I recently bought this for the fourth time! Over the years, people borrow it and I NEVER seem to get it back. You will reread this over and over and somehow find your beliefs to be stronger.
