What type of window shades is SmartShade compatible with?

SmartShade will work with any window covering that is controlled by a looped, beaded chain. It will also work with chains containing bead connectors.

Will SmartShade work without the SmartBridge?

Yes!

Without SmartBridge you can only use the app and on-device controls for basic up and down control.

When paired with the SmartBridge, your SmartShade can use smart home integrations, voice control, scheduling, groups, user sharing, and more!

Do I need to connect my SmartBridge into a WiFi router or an ethernet port?

Yes. The SmartBridge needs to be connected via the included Ethernet cable to your WiFi router or an active Ethernet port.

What is the battery life?

The quick-release BatteryPack will power SmartShade for up to 6 months depending on usage. When it is low on battery, it will alert you via the app that it needs to be recharged. The BatteryPack is recharged via the included micro USB cable.

How heavy a shade can SmartShade lift?

We’ve designed the SmartShade to easily lift window shades approximately 9 ft x 9 ft or 10 lbs of weight.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING: This product requires the RYSE SmartBridge if you want to connect to Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, or if you want to create routines/schedules/timers and control groups of shades at once. This product will motorize any window shade with beaded chains, and can be controlled via mobile app.
Simple DIY Installation in Less Than 5 Minutes!: The RYSE SmartShade can be easily installed on most existing window shades without the need for complicated wiring or special tools, making it a convenient and hassle-free way to upgrade your shades.
Keep the Shades You Love: The RYSE SmartShade allows you to convert the shades you already own and love into SmartShades. You don't have to sacrifice style for functionality with dull, lacklustre smart shades. You choose your window shades, and RYSE does the rest.
Compatibility: Easily attach the RYSE SmartShade to your shade’s plastic or metal beaded chain that you use to adjust by hand. RYSE comfortably lifts shades up to 9 x 9 ft. or 10 lbs of weight.
Environmentally-Conscious: Until RYSE, the solution to converting your shades into SmartShades entailed throwing your old shades out and completely replacing them. RYSE allows you to upgrade your current shades preventing textile waste. Additionally, by programming your shades to adjust automatically with the RYSE SmartBridge, the RYSE SmartShade can help regulate the temperature in your home and reduce energy costs based on the time of day.

Title: Great product
Review: I’m really impressed with the RYSE SmartShade and BatteryPack. The installation was incredibly easy, and the wire-free setup made it seamless to integrate into my home without extra clutter. The smart functionality works perfectly, and I can control the shades effortlessly using my phone. The battery life is surprisingly long, and I haven’t had to charge it often. Overall, it has been a game-changer for automating my home, and I love the sleek design that fits well with my decor. Highly recommend for anyone looking to upgrade their window shades!

Title: Easy to install, works out of the box
Review: Works well, although slower than expected, even at 100% speed. Pretty loud, but not too bad.

Title: Cost-Effective Alternative To Having Automatic Blinds Installed
Review: I ordered 3 of these devices (with the battery attachments) for my bedroom so I could have all three of my shades open automatically (via the RYSE SmartBridge) around 8AM. Overall they get the job done and I am happy with my purchase, however I’d like to delve into more detail covering my personal PROS & CONS.Let’s start with the PROS — 1) These devices are significantly cheaper than hiring an automatic blind company to come in and install them (I was quoted almost 20K USD to have 18 installed in my 2 BDRM/2 BTH place that is just over 2000 sqft. 2) They immediately elevate your dwelling and make you feel ‘fancy’ because you no longer need to manually open your shades yourself. 3) Customer support for setup is excellent — very responsive + they can provide you with step by step guides, videos, and/or live chat to make sure you get them installed correctly.Moving on to the CONS — 1) Setup is not as easy as it looks. I highly recommend doing this with a friend present even after watching the setup tutorial. Setting these up the right way the first time is going to save you a lot of time, energy, and frustration. Everyone’s setup will not be the same as installation depends on where the device is being installed + what type of material they are being installed on. More or less setup is not “one size fits all.” 2) If your shades are not the exact same size/length + weight, the RYSE Smart Shades will not open in unison unless you program them to run at different speeds — heavier shades will open more slowly in comparison to lighter/smaller shades, so you will have to manually set the speed of each device until they are moving up in unison. 3) If you do not have a specific type of metal ball & chain style cords, these devices simply will not work — installing them on the wrong type of chain will not only snap your chain, but also potentially damage the actual RYSE device. In conclusion, these are an excellent cost-effective option to conventional automatic blind-opening alternatives, however they’re limited to the type of shades + type of chain you have. Furthermore, if all your shades are not the same size and weight, you will have to adjust the speed of each shade manually at different speeds — this may not be an issue for most people, however it is important to note. If you want to have your shades free of wires/needing to be plugged in, you will need to purchase the battery pack for each device. If you want all of your shades to be grouped together + Alexa-compatible, you will need to (additionally) purchase the SmartBridge. All in all, if you want automatic smart shades and are willing to make the initial investment, these might be an excellent choice for you.

Title: Doesn't work with Google or Alexa without the extra bridge
Review: I don't see the point of owning this if you have to be within 35 ft and use Bluetooth on your phone to operate it, or you have to push the button. The whole allure of automating home things are to do it remotely through Wi-Fi. They don't make it clear. You need to buy the bridge to use Google home or Alexa.Setup is just a bear. I downloaded the software update at least seven times, and it would never apply to my bridge. Bridge. I finally got it to work just through brute Force. It wasn't pleasant. The setup is tricky and a little convoluted, and not really customer friendly. The shade works just okay. It's not a seamless experience like many other automated products. This one is not ready for prime time. It's a great idea though.I don't care how much it costs if it works well. But it doesn't

Title: Well-made. Really easy to install and use
Review: I’m impressed with my new RYSE! It was one of those rare things that installed and setup as easily as the instruction video said. It was well-packaged with a range of accessories. I’m quite pleased with how well it works.

Title: Actually works!
Review: Install instructions weren’t that helpful but pretty easy to install using common sense. Works perfectly on some roller shades that I was afraid would be too heavy. No issues at all!
