Title: Replaced a Series 3, great shaver.
Review: Works well, battery life good and close comfortable shave. Not a complaint but trimmer head snaps on in place of razor head. I've always had razors with attached trimmers. It's just another thing to find and fiddle with when you need to trim. This razor is much better than the Series 3 that I replaced and that wasn't a bad razor.

Title: Smooth Shave & Easy Care
Review: Before buying this shaver, I was put off by a few reviews that indicated a less than smooth shave. But, after looking over all of the options, this still seemed like the best option. I am glad I made this purchase beacuse the shaving experience has been perfect. I have a beard but like to keep the cheek areas and neck areas smooth. After 3 or 4 days, I can use the trimmer to cut down the stubble and then use the shaver to get a nice clean smooth shave. Switching from the trimmer to the shave head is simple and easy. Hairs do see to like to stick to the rubber parts of the shaver, but they and the heads can be easily cleaned by rinsing with water. The battery seems to last since I have not recharged it after using it for several months. The one down side is that the trimmer is not as effective at taking off the stubble as my last shaver was. But the shaver part does such a good job, that has not been a problem.

I need to wait 2.5-3 days between shaves to get good results on my face.Updated 9/8/23After a couple of weeks, it’s not shaving nearly as good as it did initially. It irritates my skin, pulls whiskers. I keep it clean, charged, and always use a pre electric shave. I might be sending this one back.—Original Review—I have an incredibly sensitive face. Even safety razors irritate, though not nearly as bad as cartridges. Below will be considered heresy to safety razor purists.The first time I used this shaver...I was NOT impressed. I used shave soap and there were lots of spots I had to hit with my DE. I tried dry shaving with it. I did not like it. Irritated my face. Then I bought Lectric shave pre-electric shave. This is a game changer.I have two recommendations for shaving with this unit: Use some sort of pre-electric shave product. Not shaving cream or soap. Don't press hard when shaving. Take a little time and just keep shaving. I still hit problem areas with a blade, but the whiskers aren't visible. I just want it a bit smoother.Rinsing the head works great. Most of the whiskers come out using the "gills." That said, I take the foil head off, rinse under the faucet, tap on my hand, and remaining whiskers come out. When I'm satisfied it's clear, I place on a hand towel and allow it to dry before reattaching to the shaving unit.I think the Braun Series 5 is a very good value. It shaves parts of my face better than a DE. I think a smaller shaving head gives better access to the lip and under the nose, for example. Combine it with an electric pre-shave product and you'll get a close shave with little to no irritation. I even shaved my head with this. I'm sticking with my safety razor for my head, but the results from the Series 5 are actually really good.

Title: Once enthusiastic, but no longer!
Review: Initially, I was eager to try this shaver. However, I find that after a few months, I don't like it. It doesn't run for very long on a charge, and, worse, it doesn't give any indication when a charge is needed, it just stops, and since it won't run directly on the charger, one has to abandon shaving until it can be charged enough to use, followed by a full charge. The indicators don't appear to indicate state of charge nor discharge: they just light up somewhat randomly.As for shave quality, it takes longer than usual for a complete shave, and the head does not seem to conform well, missing random hairs, and it's almost impossible to reach some hairs without almost painful effort.I do like the accessory trimmer, but it can't rival my 30-year-old cheap Norelco, except that the old shaver is crumbling, and the battery (NiMh) has been replaced several times, yet still holds charge better than this Lithium. I have decided to try a newer Norelco (that cost less than this, and has longer-lasting blades).

Title: Poor Shaves, but....
Review: This razor did a good job for about 1 month, then the quality of shaves diminished. After 4 months it is completely junk, my wife's Panasonic does a better job. Then I used Williams Lectric Shave with it and it did a very good job. Funny how much of a difference the product made.

Title: The Braun Series 5 works well.
Review: It is much faster than my ancient Braun 5502 shaver. This is because it shaves in a single straight pass, like a razor, rather than rotating it around and around to shave an area. It cuts close. I haven't found a need for the Turbo mode. I gave it only 4 stars because of the annoying requirement to change the head to use the trimmers. I am unlikely to use any of these attachments because I already have a nice Philips trimmer, which is so much more convenient.

Review: I trust the brand Gillette because I owned a Gillette electric shaver in 2009 and today it is still working! I keep using the same blade (shaver head), no replacement, for over 10 years.I was going to buy a new Gillette electric shaver but I found that it was acquired by Braun so I picked a Braun's shaver.At arrival it didn't power up until connected to the charger. Not sure if the battery was drained or it required charging to activate before the first time of usage. Charging was very quick. The first time charging took about 20 min from low to full.Braun claims that it has a 5 min quick charge technology for one shave, and a full charge provides 50 min continuous shaving time (about 3 week usage). I can't tell the battery running time since I shave weekly.Shaving is much quicker than my old 2009 Gillette shaver. The new blades can easily cut the stubble. Its 3-cutting-element shaver head works perfectly on my thin stubble beard. I don't need the 360-degree flexible shaver head.Also easy to clean due to its 100% waterproof feature and "EasyClean System" design - just place it under the water tap and flush. I don't even need to detach the shaver head.It also has some other trimmer attachments. May try later.A very nice electric shaver. Hope it can work for another 10-year, just like my Gillette shaver.
