The humble slow cooker has always been about value and convenience: more affordable cuts of meat cook to tender perfection while poultry and fish remain succulent and flavorful. Appetizers stay warm throughout a party while vegetables and side dishes are easy additions to family dinners. For more adventurous cooks, the slow cooker can be used to make homemade breads, warm sandwiches, and delectable desserts.

The award-winning 1,001 cookbook series—which has sold 750,000 copies across all titles—has earned its popularity through how its writers and editors curate and test the recipes, as well as by featuring complete nutritional data, such as calories, fat, cholesterol, carbohydrates, and diabetic exchanges. This latest offering in the bestselling series has been completely refreshed and updated for maximum ease of use.

Title: Great for pros or newbies
Review: I've been looking online for years to get new ideas for making dinner in the slow cooker. I needn't tell anyone who's tried it that almost every recipe calls for canned soups or onion soup packets. Although we buy our share of chips and cookies, with 5 kiddos, I do try to prepare healthy meals with real ingredients, and with this book I can!I know one reviewer was disappointed at the number of soup and stew recipes, but I'm thrilled! I can roast meat and bake potatoes just fine, but to get meal prep out of the way AND have everything required for nutrition in one pot is A-OK with me.Most recipes call for low sodium broth, in keeping with the "good for you" aspect. The marvelous thing is that if you're a new cook, the recipe's right there. For me, it's fun to get ideas...pick and choose parts of recipes to make something new I know my entire family will love. There are also recipes for non crock pot additions to meals like mashed potatoes and rices.Nutrition information is included with each recipe, in addition to Weight Watchers exchange units, for those who may be interested in that. Add to that all 4 types of vegetarian cooking and I cannot imagine anything's been omitted--not even breads and desserts.I haven't tried breads, being blessed with a bread machine, nor desserts, being blessed with 4 daughters who all love to bake, but I will soon just out of curiosity. All in all it's a winner, especially for the price. I thought of the Kindle version, but still love to thumb through a "real" cookbook. Can't wait to try some new meals!

Title: great soup recipes
Review: I have had great luck with every single soup recipe I've tried out of this book. The only negative I've found with the entire book is that all recipes don't specify the recommended size slow-cooker. But, follow the general rules for all slow-cooking, written in the helpful hints section. This will allow you to adapt all the recipes for your particular size slow-cooker. I have also gotten great ideas for bread puddings and other things, which I have adapted to the oven or stove-top. Definitely has already become a regular "go-to" book in my kitchen. I recommend to anyone trying to learn about and experiment with their new slow-cooker. So many recipes, you'll never have to cook the same thing twice.

Title: A birthday gift for my baby brother
Review: I gave my Baby Bro a slow cooker for his birthday last year - and he has used the slow cooker as a paper weight. I figured a recipe book filled with all sorts of good things to make would motivate him to using the slow cooker as something other than a dust catcher. I was right - he has since discovered how to make texas style chili (no beans). Beef pot roast with root veggies, beef with beer (very yummy), pork shoulder bar-b-que - oh my - great recipes and easy peezy! My Baby Bro has tried and enjoyed many of these dishes - just dump, turn the slow cooker on, cocvere and leave it alone for a couple of hours. And it makes the whole house smell great, too!

Title: Maybe 700 Best Slow-Cooker Recipes
Review: There were quite a few good recipes, and I have already tried one or two. But I had 2 problems with this book.1. I would be reading a recipe and think, "Haven't I seen this recipe already?" When I looked back, there was a recipe with only 1 or 2 ingredients different--sometimes more than 1 recipe. If I buy a book that says, "1,001 BEST Slow-Cooker Recipes" I expect the author to pick 1,001 DIFFERENT and BEST recipes.2. In the Kindle format, the author would refer to sub-recipes (i.e., Mexican Chorizo) in another recipe by page--which doesn't relate to location in a Kindle document. All in all, if I'd bought this book, I'd be disappointed. Seeing as I got it when it was free, I guess it's a good book.

Title: Really great tasting and easy
Review: We just started to make Crock Pot, slow cooker, meals to take advantage of the money and time savings. We both work long hours and really need to have dinner ready soon after getting home. This book contains a truly wide variety of recipes covering all meals (and dessert). We have tried a number of the dinner selections and have been very happy with all of them. Thumbing through the book, we are sure the ones we haven't gotten to yet will be just as satisfying. Excellent choice for people who have never tried slow cooking. Well thought out with a nice variety.

Title: Excellent Slow Cooker Cookbook
Review: Hi. I love this book. I have bought 3 so far: one for myself, one for my sister, and one for a friend. I use Pinterest a lot to search for recipes I want to try. My sister and my friend are somewhat Pinterest adverse and both have recently received their first slow cooker, so this book is perfect for them. The books were brand new when they came- like they were overstock at a book store, and then given to a indie bookseller. So that was great. Finally, the book for myself is just because I love cookbooks (and slow cookers!). I like to read 5 or 6 recipes and pick and choose ingredients to suit me. I usually use Pinterest, but there’s just something about having a cookbook in my hand...Very happy with all three copies that I bought.

Review: A lot of recipes in the book, as the title suggests.I picked up a slow cooker almost a year ago, and opted for several recipe books to go with it. This was not the best of those, nor was it the worst. It does give a decent idea of what can be made with a slow cooker; there is a lot of potential variety.

Title:
Review: This has an abundance of interesting recipes and ideas to try out. No pictures so you have to use your imagination. Some of the recipes are similar with only minor variations but still good to have alternatives. Didn't realise it was American so ingredients are measured out in cups (bought myself cheap set of measuring cups from high street so not a problem) and some ingredients I had to ring my brother-in-law (amateur chef) to ask for an English translation, especially with herbs and spices. Apparently American dishes are very heavy on the meat so I've adapted the recipes to suit my own leaner tastes with no loss of flavour. A decent starting out book.
