Title: Extremely useful, easy & delicious!
Review: I have used this cookbook to make 5 different recipes & each one is more delicious than the last. I have made a leg of lamb, beef stew, tarragon chicken (with chix breast) and two different chicken thigh recipes. I agree that some of the recipes call for a bit of prep work, but set your alarm 30 mins early & take the time in the morning to save yourself a TON of time in the evening! As a working mom I have been searching out a slow cooker cookbook forever. I have about 10 different ones on my shelf, but this has got to be the best by far! It's so nice to come home from a long day at work & have the house smelling amazing & dinner is ready for my hungry boys!I have gotten tons of compliments from happy family members who have enjoyed the various recipes from this book & I look forward to making 1-2 recipes a week from it!Update Dec 2011 - I have made too many of the wonderful recipes to count now! All my family members have a copy & they are all recommending it to their friends as well. My newest favorite is the Sirloin Dijon. So freakin' delicious, you would never know it came from a slow cooker. This cookbook has been a true lifesaver for myself & my extended family.Update Jan 2014 - This is still my go-to cookbook every week. I have now upgraded my slow cooker to the Cuisinart 3-In-1 Cook Central Multi-Cooker, Slow Cooker, Steamer & what a HUGE help that is! Its so great to now saute in the slow cooker pan & then set it for the slow cooking afterwards! I wish I had purchased that slow cooker earlier because the sauteing is a part of most of the meat recipes in this cookbook. One of my favorite parts of this cookbook it that most, if not all, of the protein recipes are made with 'whole/real foods' this is very important to me as a mother ~ I have a 9-month old & its so great to just ladle food out of the slow cooker & into the food grinder knowing that its all good for her! Enjoy!

Title: MOST USED COOKBOOK IN MY COLLECTION
Review: I have cooked so many meals using the recipes in this book over the past few years for friends and family gatherings. Two different people liked their meal so much they purchased the book for themselves. I love that the recipes call for mostly whole, real foods rather than processed, canned soups, etc. it's worth it to me to do a little prep because the end result is delicious and worth it. I guess if you wanted to skip little things like braising your meat before hand, you could, but you would miss some of the richness and flavor of the end product. I've cooked my favorite dishes so often that I have made notes and little tweaks to perfect them for my and my family's palette. I typically make large portions on a weekend morning when I don't have to get out the door to work and then I can freeze what we don't eat immediately and enjoy it later. In the end, that saves me time and I love the convenience of having a delicious meal ready to go.

Title: Lots of Receipes and Lots of Variety-Worth the Counter Space
Review: Great Book with a lot of good diverse recipes. My brother n law made the Shanghai Pulled Pork that was fabulous (one night we had Asian taco's with Kimchee Slaw and another day a Ban Mi Sandwiches with Cucumber, Green Onions and Carrots ) and the French Onion Soup. was perfection.......There was a variety of recipes using ingredients that are not too hard to find, every day pantry staples. They even had some slow cooker fish recipes (unexpected)-"hot glazed salmon" which I wouldn't think would work, but it does...and there are "white fish" recipes too.In comparison to the several slow cooker books I have purchased over the years, this is by far the best in my opinion. There is even a lengthy section on veggie dishes (sides and mains) which you don't find too often. This is a hefty book with 400 recipes but worth the counter space!! And this comes from someone that has paired down to approximately 50 cookbooks, from far too many to mention over the years!

Title: Delightful!
Review: This is a wonderful slow cooker cookbook. I guess my only complaint would be that it didn't have many photos. But, that is my only complaint. MOST of the recipes need pre-prepping before placing in the slow cooker. This is what I like most about this cookbook. For instance, the "Not-so-Swiss Steak" recipe came out so delicious! I believe that it was because the steak is browned first as are the onions, garlic, mushrooms etc. This gives the sauce a rich color and not that "gray" look of the old slow cooker recipes of the past.If you're looking for a cookbook with things such as "open a can of soup, a jar of salsa etc." then you will find a few of those also in this cookbook but you will also find many recipes that require fresh ingredients and pre-prepping also which makes for a nice balance.I recommend this cookbook as it gives a variety of slow-cooking methods and is easy to read and understand.

Title: Not so helpful for busy families
Review: I was really looking forward to "more than 400 easy-to-make recipes." Instead, the recipes require a lot of prep. Nearly every single recipe calls for at least first browning meat and then sauteeing vegetables before it all goes in the slow cooker. And many recipes only call for 3-4 hours in the slow cooker. This doesn't work for me. I need to be able to put the whole thing together in 10 minutes after breakfast, turn it on, return 8 hours later to find a decent dinner. Isn't that the point of slow cookers? Admittedly - due to the complication of many of the recipes - I've only made two recipes. And neither of them during the work week. Both ended up somewhat overcooked and I didn't cook either as long as directed. One recipe called for so much liquid, I couldn't fit it all in the large cooker I have. I haven't been impressed with this book. So far, the bottom line is too complicated and not well-tested. I gave it three stars, though, because I'm hopeful I'll find a couple recipes I like.

Review: I love this book, and gave it to my parents when I was a vegetarian. As I am now working meat back into my diet I want a copy of this book so I tried the Kindle version. Horrible! It's basically triple-spaced. I can't see all the ingredients on one page. The format of cookbooks in Kindle are not great. I have not been impressed. If you want us to buy more Kindle cookbooks they're really going to have to make things better! It's great for people who want to change the font size but when I have to scroll three pages to see one page of instructions THIS IS NOT EFFECTIVE!!!Content of this book is great! Kindle formatting, horrible!!!

Review: This book is quite good, there are so many out there so was unsure what to buy. The only thing I would say is I wish I had bought it as a hard back as to be honest I keep forgetting I have it on my Kindle and I am sure I would use it a lot more if I had the book.
