Title: Alexa who?
Review: I bought this for multiple reasons but the main one was to get the verbal notifications that someone is at my Google nest doorbell since I donât always have my phone on me when Iâm at home. Love that I can also check in on my other Google nest cameras through the display. It does everything an Alexa can do like play music, set reminders, set timers, tell the weather, and more! Got this for a better deal through Amazon than I wouldâve purchasing through Best Buy. Super easy to set up!

Title: 100 Times Better than Echo Show
Review: I wanted a Smart device to control things like my Hue lights and other IoT devices as well as something that could display digital photos so I initially purchased an Amazon Echo Show. The Show ended up being little more than an ad delivery device. Despite all efforts to disable ads on the thing, it would show ads non-stop. Maybe once in a while it would show a photo. Why would you pay money for such a thing?I instantly returned it and got a Google Nest. You know what? ZERO ads. Perfect sync with Google Photo. And it's Smart. Really Smart. If you're debating between this and an Echo Show, it's a no brainer. Google Nest 100%.

Title: BUYER BEWARE
Review: This product is NOT in English, I would guess it's Chinese. Because of this, the initial setup was difficult. I was unable to follow troubleshooting steps because of the language barrier. Once setup, you can change the language preference in the Google Home app, but there is NO WAY to alter the language within the device's operating system itself. Meaning, as long as there are no hickups, it will remain in English, however any connectivity issues will cause it to revert to the device's primary language... I feel this is deceptive advertising, as I did not see it mentioned anywhere in the ad.Save yourself the trouble and get this product from Best Buy, who has it listed for the same price.

Title: A very useful accessory for your smart home hidden behind a painful setup
Review: I purchased this product to help me manage my growing list of smart devices and to be honest I was a little afraid that I wouldn't actually use it much considering I already have quick access to Google Home's functionalities via several Alexas, my phone, and my voice. Day 1 it's already put my fears to bed. The dedicate Home Control interface is actually better than my phone's Google Home app and well-optimized for tablet use (unlike most apps on my own Android tablet). I do wish I could customize the app list since I don't use a lot of the installed services or even add more apps, but it's not a big deal.Media management is also pretty great. The speakers are surprisingly solid quality, I think a little better than Alexa speakers (sorry Amazon). I wouldn't recommend watching anything on a 7-inch screen but it's quite easy to cast stuff onto your smart tv; you can even set connected devices for default display/audio playback so with one touch you can use the Hub as a fancy tv remote or control music quickly. My biggest gripe is with the setup. Like other buyers, my Nest Hub did start up in a foreign language (Mandarin) but adding the device in your Google Home app on your phone and scanning the Hub's QR code should immediately fix this quirk. It also took a few tries to get it to connect to my wifi but that could have been my internet being stupid. In addition, I encountered a bug where the Hub "freezes" when giving me the initial feature tour (It wouldn't let me progress through the tutorial and I could access the Photo Gallery and settings but nothing else) but this is fixed by rebooting the Hub on your Home app and letting it update. All of this is only annoying for initial setup, but as someone already entrenched in the Google ecosystem I wish it was a little more plug and play.Overall I don't believe the Nest Hub is worth the ~$100 price tag per unit in its current state, but with further refinements or a 3rd generation I would absolutely put one of these in every room. Despite that, it's still good value compared to Amazon and Apple's offerings and a useful accessory for smart home control.

Title: Yes Chinese but it fixes itself during setup
Review: Not sure why there are so many complaints about the Chinese startup. During setup it automatically switched to English. Setup, 2 updates and I was good to go in a few minutes. I just hope it lasts longer than my gen 1.

Title: Google clearly doesn't want customers
Review: Plugged it in: took over half an hour to update; tried to connect it to the Google app on my phone: it wouldn't; went through all kind of troubleshooting, uninstall, clear cache, clear storage, and so on and so forth. Re-installed the app, tried to sign in to Home, and Google verification doesn't work. why? error message: 'this phone has been used for verification too many times, enter a different phone # where to send the verification code'.Are you kidding me? I did only ONE verification, one time, when I first signed in, over 3 hours ago. The hub did not connect, I'm trying again according to your 'help' DB, and I can't be signed back on? Why would I have another mobile number at my disposal, at any time? Why would it be secure to enter a random phone number for verification, that could then be used however? What are these software developers thinking? certainly not of any smart security practices.I looked online and found several others complaining of the same problem and - most of all - receiving no help at all from Google tech support. Short of having another phone number to feed this voracious security freak, you are out for good. Did I want to get stuck this time and however many other times in the future this might happen, with calling a friend and asking for the favor? Certainly NOT! This not-ready-for-primetime, utterly stupid piece of wanna-be AI is going right back. Google, get your act together and hire better trained programmers and software system engineers.
