Title: Easy install
Review: I installed three of these smoke detectors. No problems were encountered and the install was easy. Be sure to date the back of the detector and to replace any existing mounting bracket with the enclosed bracket. Also, don't forget to hit the "Test" button before calling the install good.

Review: The first one I received would not activate. But they sent another one right out which worked great. After paying close attention to how the second one was activated I took the first one apart and was able to activate it. The pull tab did not do what it was supposed to. So I carefully manipulated it with a flat head screw driver.

Title: Batteries Dead and No Refund
Review: I purchased one of these units to install in my house. We fastened the base to the ceiling and were about to attach the unit. Unfortunately, the test button did not work. It did have the slip to protect the battery life, and we pulled that, but the test did not work. Because it is a unit with the battery already installed, you can't open it to "test the battery" like the problem-solving direction said. I then bought another unit, thinking I could keep the base on the ceiling and switch out the units. The new smoke detector also did not work. Now I can't return either of the units. THIS IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF! How are you supposed to text the battery without opening the package?

Title: Simple and cost effective
Review: Hopefully it lives up to the long battery life listed but will be great not having to worry about the batteries running out so frequently.Installation was a breeze as you don't need to even plug them in, being fully battery operated. You can just put them anywhere with a few simple screws (included with drywall anchors).The ones I installed chirped just fine when holding the test button. There is a small red LED that flashes every several seconds though. I suppose this is to let you know it's doing its thing. It's actually a little brighter than expected.Hopefully It never gets used but great having a well known company behind the units. They are shipped in plain builders boxes for those that reviewed them being fakes. The units themselves are exactly what was expected and pictured, from First Alert. Maybe it would be helpful on the page to have this better pointed out to not catch people off guard.Overall great product for great price. Some of those fancy ones are nice but just so expensive, and then issues with the app's over the years are no fun. Some things are just better simple.
