Title: Great improvement to an entry level Traeger
Review: This is my second Traeger. I got really good at charcoal just for fun, or bragging rights.. but this delivers a better quality cook without any of the effort. The first Traeger I had was the Junior Elite which I donât think is available anymore but thatâs ok. Compared to that one, the Tailgater is easy to transport, thereâs an optional inverter if you donât have one, cool down time is actually calculated instead of estimated, the control panel is more robust yet equally simple and easy to use. You will not regret buying this grill, it was good back then and itâs actually a lot better now

Title: This is Worth the Money
Review: This was a birthday present for my husband and he is in love with it. It was worth spending a bit more money on getting this one because it has legs that fold up which is the perfect tailgater. Its been a lot of fun smoking different things and using the variety of pellets!

Title: Easy to operate and great food.
Review: We had a little difficulty putting it together due to very meager instructions. we have only had it a week and are still in the learning curve but are very pleased with the results so far. We have cooked beef ribs, pork ribs and chicken. Even the chicken breast was tender and juicy. I highly recommend this smoker.

Title: Expensive but well made.
Review: This is small but definitely gets the job done. Smoked a brisket on it and it worked flawlessly. Very simple to assemble. Always wanted to try a Traeger and this is probably the cheapest way to do so.

Title: Very nice smoker except......
Review: OK, I've used this smoker 5 times and now I have an honest outlook. First, this is a very nice smoker. I've never used pellets before and I've never had an electric smoker. I'm happy with both. The pellet feeder works flawlessly. The smoker allows for any possible temp/time variations. It smokes and cooks the food evenly from leg of lamb to vegetables. The cool down function is excellent. The thermometer is a great addition, although I use my own. This smoker is a breeze to clean. So the except part, I would easily give this guy 5 stars if the timer function worked according to the manual. It's a frustrating issue with every attempt so far. Now, I just keep my own time. Also, be prepared to use about 6 pounds of pellets when you initially prime and season the smoker. No big deal as the higher temp requires that. I just would have liked to know ahead of time. Finally, I'm a major football fan and having done tailgating in the past, I'm not feeling this being called a Tailgater. You can fold the legs up to place on a table top or even the tail of a pickup truck. I would never attempt to use this in the rear of a SUV. That's my take. Would I purchase again? Yes.

Title: Very portable and great for camping trips
Review: Well itâs got plenty of room to do a six bone prime rib roast with room to spare. We take ours camping and used a Jackery 500 watt battery inverter. The initial start up uses about 200 watts then after a couple minutes when the fire box ignites the grill only draws about 30 watts the rest of the time. Weâve cooked prime rib in the middle of no where and occasionally folks would stop and ask how lol. Chicken wings are the best and smell so damn good while cooking too. I love this Tailgater

Title: My Second Traeger
Review: I wanted to keep on smoking while I was camping so I got one of these and a Jackery 1000. My Eastwood 34 is great but it's big and sits on the roof deck. I took the legs off this and set it on my tailgate with a washing station and a big cutting board. I smoked for two days; 2 chickens, 2 tritips, sausages, and a rack of beef ribs. I even got the griddle for the suitcase version and made french toast for breakfast. Highly recommend.

Review: This unit was all I needed. I think the only thing I am seeing now that made me wish I had purchaed the Pit Boss I had my eye on, is this doesn't have room for a second rack. So you'll need to really get good at smoking/cooking your sessions with that in mind. If you're strategic about it and find creative ways at getting extra smoke flavour in there (lookup how to safely use wood chunks in pellet grills), this thing truly is great. I managed to fit the rib rack in this thing and cooked burgers and hot dogs on my gas grill for the ultimate backyard bbq. I managed to fit a 15 lb brisket inside this thing no problem, and again if you get creative this thing can handle food for 8-10 people no problem, but don't expect to feed the neighbourhood with it.Final Thoughts: it was exactly what I wanted. Not outlandishly expensive. Small form-factor, so it also can be folded up for easy transport! I am really pumped to take this thing camping. It also produces incredibly reliable results and it's not too big which was fine by me, since I'm only ever making food for 10 people at most.Recommendations:- get a ThermoPro or equivalent with the wireless or App function (the ultimate set and forget experience)- get a smoker box that can handle 2" wood chunks, a few pieces of charcoal in there with parafin wax burners underneath to keep it hot enough for added rich smoke flavour.- BBQ gloves that can handle hot heat for 10 seconds to move things around in there.- Cheap aluminum drip trays have worked well enough for me to keep the main pan from becoming gummed up.- a headlamp for checking in overnight really helps.- a spritzing bottle that has wide spread has been really great for basting in intervals.- a small outdoor cart to store everything into air tight bins for easy access, storage, and protection from weather. It also has helped act as a prep station when I need to tend to things initially and during sessions.- keep a "quick-start" sheet nearby to always follow for both startup, shutdown, and maintenance steps to protect yourself and the equipment from misuse.
