(Guitar Solo). The arrangements in this book are carefully written for intermediate-level guitarists. Each solo combines melody and harmony in one superb fingerpicking arrangement. The book also includes an easy introduction to basic fingerstyle guitar. Title: which is where I discovered it and was pleased with it
Review: I had actually checked this out of our local library first, which is where I discovered it and was pleased with it. I purchased it after that. It is exactly what I like and I have purchased another book of the same series "Fingerpicking Standards". Both of these books are just right for my level of experience, which is intermediate. I am not a beginner. I have taken lessons to play and read solo guitar music and have been practicing for a number of years. I like the song selections because they are familiar to me and recognizable when I play. I like the page arrangements because I am practicing reading. Left Hand Fingerings are added at some notes to assist. I like that. It has the tabs below for additional help. I like that too.

Review: For the price it's very good. If you're more advanced of a player simply add on. After all that's what makes you advanced. If these arrangements were much more elaborate you'd be paying a lot more. That's not to say they are bad. Some are better than others. Canon has a challenging 8 measure passage in the middle of the piece that should challenge any guitarist to play authentically at speed. I took Can Can and added on. Went off on Linus and Lucy in the middle of the piece. Relatively simple is good. Jazz heads are generally simple. Anyhow I'm coming from more of a jazz perspective which may not be entirely relevant to this music. Maybe I'll come back and write more after I've played every note of every piece. Happy election with the hopes that Wednesday doesn't turn into a nightmare !

Title: Beautiful arrangements
Review: Not too hard, and not too easy - and very nicely sounding. I want to play almost every song from this book, and that rarely happens. I thought I'll try to find other books by the same arranger, but unfortunately book doesn't give his or her name.

Title: On the cheesy side
Review: I don't have a real bone to pick with this book. It's just a little cheesy. You're basically getting some of the most cliche melodies of concert music arranged for guitar. Some of them are quite nice. Others just don't sound as good on the guitar as they would a fully set orchestra.Nice thing about this book though is you are getting a lot of music for $8, so even if you only end up liking a couple, you're doing well on the investment.

Title: Great Book
Review: As I have gotten back into fingerstyle, steel string acoustic guitar, this book has been very helpful. My dexterity is increasing and I'm playing beautiful music. Challening for someone with a beginner to intermediate skill level on fingerstyle guitar.

Title: Good Mix of Easy and Intermediate Pieces (Typo in Bouree in E Minor)
Review: Good book with some of the classic pieces. It can be argued they are cliche, but a good intro to classical fingerpicking nonetheless. It should be noted a typo exists in Bouree in E Minor. The tablature in the 9th measure is incorrect. The tab for the final two eighth notes should match the tab for the eighth notes in the 1st measure. There may be others, but that is the only mistake I have identified thus far.

Title: Get this book. It's great.
Review: This by far is one of my favorite books. It has a nice assortment of music and they sound good. I do wish this had a CD or online source to hear it but a quick search can find these pieces. One could learn an entire gig with just this book if one so desired. I even had this book spiral bound at Fed ex because it's going to get well used.
