“There are very, very few people who occupy the ground that Leonard Cohen walks on.” ―BONO
The Flame is the final work from Leonard Cohen, the revered poet and musician whose fans span generations and whose work is celebrated throughout the world. Featuring poems, excerpts from his private notebooks, lyrics, and hand-drawn self-portraits, The Flame offers an unprecedentedly intimate look inside the life and mind of a singular artist.
A reckoning with a life lived deeply and passionately, with wit and panache, The Flame is a valedictory work.
“This volume contains my father’s final efforts as a poet,” writes Cohen’s son, Adam Cohen, in his foreword. “It was what he was staying alive to do, his sole breathing purpose at the end.”
Leonard Cohen died in late 2016. But “each page of paper that he blackened,” in the words of his son, “was lasting evidence of a burning soul.”

Title: A great read
Review: Leonard Cohen, one brilliant man who gave so much to our world, is lovingly remembered by his son in the introduction. Poems, lyrics, private notes and drawings all shared with the world - open and honest. This is a must-have book

Title: Remarkable like everything the man did...
Review: ⦠beyond his capabilities due to his wordsmithing counter-parts he often failed to mention when biographing his life, but I donât judge him because so much was experience-based he is 100% forgiven. While I enjoyed this, I donât believe women should be reading his male-driven prose. Especially when they read, âIâm a manâ¦â spoken by, er, a woman. The only drawback on this. But keep in mind, it was produced after his death so he had no say in the matter. Donât let my grip deter anyone from listening to it. Maybe just read it instead. I, of course, did the duo purchase of Audible/Kindle whisper-sync. Loved it. Stranger Music is just as good, if not better, itâs lyrics read out loud. Some of his best songs/poems. This manâs catalog of work is beyond the pale brilliant, timeless, touching, funny, very funny, and enlightening in how he could say often the unsayable. Recommend.

Title: Wonderful!!! Read it!! Worth every penny!!!
Review: Iâve waited for this release and printing. I LOVE Leonard Cohen. I read his poetry and heard his first album when I started college in 1967. I grew old with him and followed his work and writings my whole life. What a man!! What a poet!!!There will NEVER be another like him. He was a gift from God. Thank you to his son,Adam Cohen, that took time and effort to help be sure this was printed after the death of his father. What an honor he paid his father. RIP Leonard Cohen. Your last effort was finalized, thanks to your son. You must have also been quite a father. You were a private man and did it your way. You never sold your soul for money. You loved and died a POET!! Hurrah for you!!

Title: Somewhat disappointing...
Review: After Book of Mercy and Book of Longing, I had high hopes for The Flame, but I was left feeling...underwhelmed? The song lyrics section can be left out - especially if you've bought "You Want It Darker" (and you should), the lyrics stand on their own. If I want song lyrics in print, there other places to go for that.I can't speak for all Cohen fans, but I would have gladly waited for a 600+ page volume of his notebooks and correspondence, as well as more of his poetry. This just seems rushed.
