One of the longest-running shows in the history of Broadway, and one of its most beloved, Rent was the winner of the Pulizer Price for Drama and four Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Based on Puccini's classic opera "La Boheme," Jonathan Larson's revolutionary rock opera tells the story of a group of bohemians struggling for success and acceptance while enduring the obstacles of poverty, illness and the AIDS epidemic in New York's gritty East Village. Now the powerful musical marks its tenth year on stage by coming to the big screen, acompanied by RENT Highlights From the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Warner. 2005.

Title: Thank you, Jonathan Larson!
Review: I live in China. I searched on various websites and found no seller selling this old album. Finally, I got it through overseas purchase on Amazon. On the day I got it, I felt like I got the treasure. This CD is undoubtedly my favorite. In my mind, the top 3 of films adapted from musical must have "Rent". The other two I would say are ''Les miserables'' and ''Chicago''. The film version of music production retains most of the content of musicals and adds more layers. As a big fan of "Rent", I have to say that Jesse L. Martin is my favorite version of Collins. No version of 《I'' cover you (Reprise) 》can make me cry so hard like this.Wilson Jermaine Heredia in the movie, because there is no stage limit. In ''Today 4 u'', he made the best performance of the segment of Angel beating the drum. So much so that when I hear the percussion music in this song, I will always think of the drag queen who beautiful as a real Angle.I want to say too much about ''Rent''. As my musical enlightenment work, it will always be one of my favorite musicals. If you haven't seen this work, I hope you can take time to have a look. It will give you the most extreme surprise and the most perfect music feast.Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutesHow do you measure a year in the life? How about love?Of course LOVE!

Title: An improvement!
Review: I've listened to both the Original Broadway Cast Recording and this new soundtrack, and I have to admit... I actually like the soundtrack better. The orchestrations are an improvement, the vocals have more raw emotion rather than empty singing. Every single original cast member has improved for the better in one way or another, and it convinces me to hold high expectations for the film come November 23rd.To all of those who have heard the OBCR first, please listen with an open mind. It IS different from the original recording. Many are tempted to dislike it at first simply for the principle that it sounds SO different from what they're used to. This is a rocked-out, less broadwayified version of the musical we all know and love, and I believe this is a great move for a film--especially for one that plans to break into the mainstream. :-)Anthony Rapp sounds terrified. Adam Pascal, in my opinion, sounds like... himself. Different than the OBCR, but if you know his solo work, then you know what to expect. I think he has certainly matured as an actor, and I love his voice. I don't think he's weak at all. Idina Menzel sounds a little spacy, but I think her role calls for it. 🙂 Jesse L. Martin, Tracie Thoms, and Wilson Jermaine Heredia sound FANTASTIC. And finally, Rosario Dawson--definitely a change from the original Daphne Rubin-Vega, but her smooth voice is perfect for film.Overall, this soundtrack is an incredible listen. La Vie Boheme, Will I?, One Song Glory, Light My Candle, Another Day, and Tango: Maureen are of particular notice. Love Heals is a lovely little close to the package. All those who were hesitant to buy this, don't hold back! 🙂

Title: No customer reviews??
Review: RENT recently ended its long Broadway run. In some ways I think the story-line is tied a little too tightly to the AIDS hysteria of the late 80s. Also, the final vestiges of the bohemian ideals are pretty much dead and buried. However, that does not preclude this soundtrack from being a really good period piece--and it is. Many of the songs are not only enjoyable but they deal with weighty philosophical topics that transcend a single decade and speak to the human condition generally.I actually enjoy the soundtrack more than I did the actual Broadway production. With the soundtrack I can concentrate more of the lyrics and the truly gifted artists who sing them. I can also appreciate the music more when it is not being blasted at 150 decibels (wow the live shows were LOUD).Of course this soundtrack comes with the caveat that it IS musical theatre and if you absolutely hate that genre then this may not be for you. Sample a few of the clips and see what you think. I recommend 'Rent' and 'La Vie Boheme' to get a sense of the "harder" rock tracks and 'I Should Tell You' to get a sense of the "softer" side.

Title: A musical about tragedy, friendship, and love all in a great message about life.
Review: I love this musical as it has so much meaning and brings reality to everyone. There is an epidemic of aids and this makes you understand things that may have been a fear to you before. I have to say, I just saw this movie about a year ago and I watch it at least twice a week. I bought the CD about 1-2 months ago and I just can't stop listening to it. It has an amazing amount of talent and the songs bring so much meaning. I have never loved a soundtrack like this one and I don't know if I ever will. I want to acknowledge every person that had to do with either writing or performing the songs as they did such an amazing job. I only hope some day that I will be able to find another musical that can come close to this one. They could never get better people to sing these songs. Great job to each and every character for bringing the message across that is so important!

Title: RENT, movie soundtrack
Review: If you're like me & loved the movie then you'll love the soundtrack. There's obviously a separation between songs that doesn't exist in the movie. There are a couple of bonus songs that were cut from the movie. My biggest complaint is Seasons of Love B, which doesn't sound like it does in the movie & doesn't include the entire song...a disappointment for me. The lyrics are included which is nice. I was l left wondering though why there wasn't a picture of Angel & Collins amongst the many photos that were included. All in all very satisfied!

Title: Perfect
Review: I first saw this show when I was in college. I fell in love with this show, and when it came out on film, I was pleased. I am trying to expose my 11 month old to musicals and such to give her some variety and thought that this would be great for both of us to listen too. The CD came in a timely mannor and was EXACTLY what I ordered. We enjoy listening at least once a week. I would def use this seller again. Thank you.

Review: I truly don't agree with the people who say Rosario Dawson sucks in Rent. I beliee she portrayed a very convincing Mimi, and her singing was quite good too. Truly, both Idina Menzel and Tracie Thoms top her, but that's because they're real godesses, but I really think Rosario did a great job. This said, let's go to the important stuff. This soundtrack will change your life. It changed mine the first time I watched the film. Rent, the musical, has changed my life for better. It is hard to select just a few songs which could be deemed as "the best", but let's try: Seasons of love. Take me or leave me. One song glory. Another day. Tango: Maureen. La Vie Bohème. I'll cover you (reprise). What you own. Will I. Rent. Out tonight. Goodbye love.Jesus! I mentioned almost all of them. That's because these songs are so amazing, and moving, and eternal. They are LIFE itself. Life made music.Just stop reading this review and start listening to Rent. You won't regret it.Thanks Rosario, Idina, Tracie and of course the wonderful and super talented Anthony Rapp, Adam Pascal (what a voice!), Jesse L. Martin (what a voice too!), Taye Diggs and Wilson Jermaine Heredia. And most of all, thank you, Jonathan Larson.

Review: 映画を見て少しでも心揺さぶられた人はこのCDは「買い」ですよ。映像無しで聴くことで改めて曲の素晴らしさを感じることができますし、それぞれのシーンが強烈に頭の中に浮かび上がってきます。「Seasons Of Love」ももちろん良いけれど、個人的に「You'll See」「One Song Glory」あたりがカッコ良くて好きですし、 「Light My Candle」「Will I」「La Vie Boheme」「Take Me or Leave Me」なんかもインパクトを受けたシーンだけに好きだったりもします。
