Title: More than just sports stories
Review: Even if you don't consider yourself a sports fan, this book is worth a read. The pieces span from a profile of a stone skipper that's really a deep dive into psychology, the fraught tale of the women who dedicated themselves to the dance team that became the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, a sailor in search of mythological connection to the ocean, a thrill seeker horse race that's a form of recovery from a life in shambles... the list goes on. Do yourself a favor and read about the human condition and the things that make us great.

Title: A MUST-READ
Review: The stories and writing are so good that you forget you're reading and just get sucked in to the experience of what it's like to be part of the action or there watching it. I read the introduction and first couple of stories on the Amazon website because I couldn't wait to get my hard copy in the mail. They blew me away. I CAN'T WAIT to read the rest!

Title: Sports Journalism at its best!
Review: I purchased a copy of this book and have read a few of the stories so far. All the stories I have read are remarkable! The writers dive deep into each one and so much more is provided then just a story. Even if you are not a sports fan, this is a great read for all who love to read about race, culture, sports, and gender!

Title: Disappointment
Review: I ordered this book for years back in the earlier 2000âs and enjoyed it very much. After not reading it for a number of years I thought I would pick it back up. What a disappointment. The first story is a disjointed story about a guy who skips stones on ponds. Iâm ok with an esoteric tale, but the writing was poor. I enjoyed a story about a woman in a sailing race. There was a story about Serena Williams who I admire greatly, that mainly focused on the racism she endured, which is fair, but there could have so much more about the person. After a story about a Ukrainian soccer team that was more about the war, I put the book down. I know Glen Stout no longer edits this series and it shows. Admittedly I read about sports for a little escapism. I know where to read about wars and racism.
