The Squirrel Buster Mini Bird Feeder is perfect for smaller bird species. Its squirrel-proof design keeps unwanted critters away while providing a delightful feeding experience for the birds. The 0.98-pound seed capacity is ideal for keeping a smaller amount of seeds.

Title: Great squirrel deterrent feeder — well made
Review: I’ve bought three of these and love them! It is an excellent, well made product and a real value compared to other squirrel-deterrent feeders. It really works. I wanted to try out feeding the birds but didn’t want to invest a lot in a feeder. This feeder is mostly metal, so the squirrels can’t chew it or destroy it. Boy, do they try. The mechanism works quite well, and keeps the squirrels mostly out of the feeder. There are a couple enterprising ones that figure out a way to support their weight and foil the mechanism. It doesn’t work for chipmunks. They’re too light weight. I’d recommend putting cayenne pepper in the birdseed and using this feeder to make it about 98% squirrel and chipmunk proof. It is easy to fill. I use a bottle brush to clean it. It is an excellent product and a real value compared to a lot of other squirrel deterring feeders.

Title: It works with my squirrels and birds
Review: I bought the Squirrel Buster Mini even though I would have preferred a larger feed capacity. The Mini, however, has a cage that our woodpeckers like and perches that other birds seem to prefer. I used this model to replace a bird feeder that claimed to be "squirrel proof" and certainly was not.I started by adding a 5 inch wire bent to form hooks at either end. This extra joint in the hanger eliminates the problem, mentioned by a reviewer, with hooking the birdfeeder onto a support without spilling birdseed. This also makes it more difficult for squirrels to shake and empty the feeder's contents because it is more difficult for the squirrels to wildly swing the feeder with this extra joint in the hanger. It also makes it more difficult for the squirrels to reach the feeder. Be sure to keep the feeder 18 inches away from any structure capable of supporting a squirrel. Shorter distances will allow the squirrels to grab the feeder from the sides and eat without closing the feeder ports. We have 4 very cleaver squirrels that have had no problem mastering our previous "squirrel proof" birdfeeder. Our previous feeder has now been replaced with the Brome Squirrel Buster Mini and it really works to limit the amount of time that our squirrels spend hanging on the feeder. It doesn't keep them from trying but they lose interest before long and birds can spend more time at the feeder without the encumbering squirrel sweater. We like squirrels so we feed our squirrels separately with food intended for them.I use a coarse mixture of birdseed in the feeder that includes cracked corn and sunflower seeds. I have had no issues with clogging. This has been mentioned as a problem by other reviewers. Maybe my model has been improved. The feeder has 4 feeding stations with perches that attract a variety of small birds. The perches are short so larger birds don't seem to be attracted to the feeder. They opportunistically wait on the ground below the feeder to gather seeds that are selectively and frequently ejected by feeding birds. We have Cardinals in our area and I have seen them feeding on the squirrel food that we place on the ground [poetic justice]. We have yet to see them at this feeder but we haven't given up hope.Pros:1. The Squirrel Buster Mini really does discourage our squirrels and they have been quite successful eating at our previous "squirrel proof" feeder. Maybe they will eventually stop trying but I am not convinced. Regardless, it limits the time that was previously spent scaring birds away from the feeder.2. Very solid construction. Mostly powder-coated metal that the squirrels try to unsuccessfully chew through. I am unsure how long the plastic feeder tube will last but the rest of the feeder is very well made.3. Excellent ventilation system that helps to keep the seed dry.4. Very good price at Amazon. This is a relatively inexpensive feeder.Cons:1. Not easy to fill without spilling seed. You may wish to use a funnel or a large bowl under the feeder to catch the inevitable spillage.2. The Squirrel Buster Mini has a small capacity, as the name implies, that seems to last our birds about 4 to 5 days. The larger models don't appear to have both the perch design that I like and a cage to attract a combination of woodpeckers and other birds. This is why we selected this model and tolerantly accept its limited capacity. It just means that we clean the feeder more frequently and this is healthier for the birds. This model instructs the owner to not use a dishwasher for cleaning but I don't believe that I wish to share my dishwasher with bird droppings. I should clarify that other Brome models have a cage and perches but I particularly like the size of these perches as they deter larger birds. Other individuals may have different preferences.I strongly recommend the Brome Squirrel Buster Mini. It is well made, supports a variety of birds, and keeps the squirrels baffled. It is perfect for woodpeckers and a variety of small birds.>>> UPDATE 17Dec2011 <<Reviewer: Chris Barley

Title: Fantastic Squirrel-Proof Bird Feeder
Review: I recently purchased the Squirrel Buster Mini Squirrel-proof Bird Feeder, and it has exceeded all my expectations. Here’s why I’m giving it five stars:Effective Squirrel-Proof Design:This bird feeder lives up to its name. The clever design prevents squirrels from accessing the seeds, ensuring that only the birds can enjoy the food. Since setting it up, I haven't seen a single squirrel manage to get to the seeds, which is impressive.Quality and Durability:The feeder is made from high-quality materials that feel sturdy and durable. The metal perches are strong, and the overall construction seems built to last. The garden green color is also very attractive and blends well with the outdoor environment.Capacity and Functionality:With a 1.3 lbs seed capacity, this feeder holds a good amount of bird food, reducing the frequency of refills. The four metal perches provide ample space for multiple birds to feed at once, and the feeder design ensures that the seeds remain dry and protected from the element

Title: Not Squirrel-proof but Birds Love It
Review: This is not squirrel-proof. I can fill it up, and within a few hours, almost all of the seed is gone. However, it attracts a lot of birds. I put it on the side of our wooden shed, which is right under a tree that is home to many birds such as finches, doves, and cardinals. I have seen 3-4 finches on here at a time, enjoying sunflower seeds. Although not squirrel-proof, the birds love it, so it's a win for me.

Title: Solid Feeder
Review: We've wintered goldfinches for years w/ the traditional cheaper plastic tubes & fine sunflower chips. Next-gen squirrels have decided to start eating those, so tried this tube. This feeder is expensive, well built, easy to clean, and will indeed bust the squirrels. On the most humid of midwestern day w/ dewpoints in the 70's, some caking will occur if you use fine sunflower chips.

Title: Excellent value
Review: This is the second one of these that I have bought. The last one is still working perfectly after about 10 years. I got this one for the front yard. The quality is the same and it works so well against squirrels.

Title: Just bought 2nd one
Review: Very high quality feeder. Keeps the squirrels out. We had one previously that lasted roughly 9 years. We have a quite a few large aggressive animals (deer, large squirrels, raccoon, crows, etc.) that have been trying to get into this thing and it held up exceptionally well. The deer just lick the food out - so the mechanism doesn't work for them, but everyone else got the gate! Eventually one giant squirrel kept jumping on it and the spring wouldn't fully reset - so everyone was locked out. Still, impressive showing. The outside still looked great - some minor rust/corrosion on some of the underside pieces.

Review: This is the perfect squirrel proof bird feeder. With anticipation I watched as the squirrel shimmied down to the feeder, sure enough it closed. The squirrel could see and smell the food but couldn't get near it and gave up quickly. The feeder removes easily for fast filling and cleaning. The hook it hangs from is tough enough the weight of the squirrel was no issue. There are three different chambers so you can put out different kinds of food. All in all a brilliantly, simple design that just works. The way the moving mechanism and spring are covered means wintery weather should not be an issue. It is worth noting this is a smaller bird feeder, my birds empty it pretty much in a day. For the price it's worth it!

Review: very sturdy and durable through wind and rain. Keeps the food dry too ! Easy to use and its not too big. I love how the bigger birds like pigeons can't use it. It mostly good for smaller to medium sized birds. Pigeons, morning doves, and sea gulls are way too big to eat from here.
