Title: Ring Side Report-Board Game Review of Sushi Go!
Review: Originally posted at www.throatpunchgames.com, a new idea everyday!Product- Sushi Go!Producer- GamewrightPrice- ~$13 here http://www.amazon.com/Sushi-Go-Pick-Pass-Card/dp/B00J57VU44/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419311517&sr=8-1&keywords=sushi+goSet-up/Play/Clean-up- 30 minutes (2 to 5 players)TL; DR- Quick family fun. 90%Basics-Hungry for some more quick sushi games? Sushi Go! is a simple family card game that follows many of the same drafting mechanics popular in 7 Wonders and Among the Stars. Players start with a hand of cards and choose a card. All players reveal their chosen cards simultaneously. Some cards are instant point cards like nigiri cards. Other cards are worth more as you gain more of the same card like dumplings. Yet others need a specific number of cards of one type to get any points like tempura where every two score points. And some are worth more depending who has the most of them at the end of the game. There are also wasabi that multiply other cards, and the chopsticks card. If players have a chopstick card, they can shout "Sushi Go!" and take a second card from the same hand of cards. After selecting your card for the round, you pass the cards to the left. When you only have two cards, you choose one card, and then throw the other into the center. After three total hands like this, players determine who has the most points and is the winner.Mechanics- I like a good drafting game. This one plays quick and teaches even quicker. My sister who can't read scored as many points as I did while my mom scored the least points. It's a blast to play and won't require encyclopedic knowledge of some obscure rules. 5/5Theme- Here is where the game suffers. I don't get the feeling I get from Wasabi of being a chef. This game has cute sushi, but beyond the box and the art, there isn't really a story here. If story doesn't matter to you, then this game is great. 3/5Instructions- The instructions are a single booklet that's less than ten pages. It doesn't take much to learn and play this game. 5/5Execution- The cards are decent quality and the whole game comes is a metal tin. The art is great and all cutesy. And for less than 15 bucks? Well worth the price of admission. 5/5Summary- This game has the family board game awards all wrapped up, and I can see why. It's cheap, easy to play, and doesn't require a ton of priming to get into. It's a great intro board game that doesn't break the bank and travels well too. 90%

Title: Finally! A challenging game that I enjoy playing with my 6 year old.
Review: My 6 year old loves games, he practically begs me to play a board game with him every night. Up until this point we've been playing candy land (groan), and Chutes and ladders (kill me now). The games I enjoy like Ticket to Ride and King of New York are really fun but the rules are just too complex for him. He's just learning to read and can read single words and very basic sentences. This game was suggested to me by a friend with kids that owns a couple hundred games. It was super cheap so I decided to give it a go. We've only played 1 time and he's already getting the strategy of the game. The words in the game revolve around sushi (sashimi, nigiri, wasabi, etc...) so they weren't easy for him to read at first but there are only about 10 distinct cards so he was able to learn the pictures. The rules of the game are easy for an adult to grasp but a little challenging for a 6 year old at first. I had to give him a lot of hints and helped him throughout the first game we played. The basic idea of the game is to gather the most points by putting sushi cards together. Putting Nigiri on top of Wasabi gets a certain amount of points, chopsticks let you select 2 cards, whoever gets the most pudding at the end of the game gets 6 points, etc... Each play you get to keep a card from your hand and then you have to pass the hand to another person playing so that they can pick a card. There's a decent amount of strategy to it and thinking ahead required. The game supports up to 5 players at the same time.Overall I highly recommend this card game if you you have kids that like board games and want to play with the adults. It's a little challenging at first but it's a lot of fun and I think most kids in the 6-10 range will be able to pick it up pretty easily. The best thing about this game is that it's also fun for adults. I could play it with my friends on a random Saturday night and we'd have fun with it as well. I'm very happy we found this.

Review: This game is not hard to learn and is enjoyable to play, even for my five year old grandson. The game taps into higher cognitive abilities such as planning, forethought, impulse control and insight while maintaining intrigue and engagement. It has the added bonuses of being portable and simple (e.g. a deck of cards). Every turn involves the swapping of hands thus the luck of the draw is minimized.

Review: I bought Sushi Go! for my nieces, and it’s been an absolute hit. The game is quick to learn, fast-paced, and full of fun – ideal for keeping everyone engaged. It’s great for all ages, so the whole family can join in, and each round is short, making it easy to play a few quick games. The cute sushi artwork adds extra charm, and it’s the perfect mix of strategy and luck. Highly recommend for family game nights.
