Fire HD 8 Plus offers everything you get with a Fire HD 8 and more - wireless charging, 9W power adapter, 3 GB RAM, 2 MP front-facing and 5 MP rear-facing cameras. New design is thinner and lighter than previous gen and has a screen made with strengthened aluminosilicate glass. As measured in tumble tests, Fire HD 8 Plus is twice as durable as Apple iPad mini (2021).
Fast and responsive - Enhanced hexa-core processor for more responsive performance (up to 30% faster than previous gen Fire HD 8 Plus) so you can get more done. Check email, tackle your to-do lists, browse the web, and more.
Great for on-the-go - Up to 13 hours of reading, browsing the web, watching videos, and listening to music. Hassle-free wireless charging dock (dock not included) offers easy charging anywhere. Choose from 32GB or 64GB (up to 1TB of expandable storage via microSD card).
Relax and unwind with your favorite content from Netflix, Facebook, Hulu, Instagram, TikTok, and more through Amazon’s Appstore (Google Play not supported. Subscription for some apps required).
Stay connected with friends and family - Ask Alexa to make video calls or download apps like Zoom.
Great for the whole family - Amazon Kids offers easy-to-use parental controls on Fire tablets. Subscribe to Amazon Kids+ for access to thousands of books, popular apps and games, videos, songs, Audible books, and more.

Title: HD 8 plus: Very capable solid fast - the 3 gigs RAM is huge!
Review: Very surprising degree of competence for an inexpensive tablet that on sale can be as little as $60. Quite fast - nothing like the slow chug of the less expensive 7". Presumably the twice as many core processor with 50% more RAM makes a huge difference. Found mostly all the apps I wanted on admittedly very limited fire app store including all my favorite streaming media. The USB C is terrific for faster charging and to plug in a USB drive or accessory (mouse, keyboard). In fact a Bluetooth mouse works flawlessly -pointer and scroll wheel and click to select. Surprisingly cool difference to sometimes let a mouse do the clicking. Bluetooth headphones (Beats over ear) also work FLAWLESSLY, great sound, volume adjust and play stop and skip all works. Zero issues. Brightness is fine for indoors and at night can feel too bright so I adjust it down. Obviously not iPhone brightness for outdoor use. Spotify also works flawlessly including with Bluetooth all multitasking while I simultaneously read the news or kindle book. Device does NOT stutter playback even when making that multitasking use. Battery life is beyond amazing too, way more than iPhone or iPad. The built in email software is actually fine to use though basic and simple. Almost forgot - reading on kindle app is a great pleasure and the minor screen dpi density improvement over the 7" now really does make the text look virtually "retina" smooth / sharp (to borrow Apple's screen appearance terminology). My new favorite easy to carry little tablet tech toy! Strongly recommend over spending much more for a similarly capable piece of hardware.

Title: Good budget tablet
Review: If you need a tablet for professional use or heavy gaming, you're probably better off with an iPad or a less budget-friendly Android tablet. But if you're looking for something to serve as an entertainment device to watch videos, scroll through social media or news apps, and play the occasional casual game, then this tablet is close to perfect for the price.I bought mine during the July Prime sales because I wanted something other than my phone for watching videos. I don't mind watching videos on my phone, but I don't want to waste recharging cycles and wear out my phone battery for the sake of indulging in YouTube or binge-watching Only Murders in the Building! I occasionally used my late mother's old Fire from 2018, but I didn't love it; it felt laggy. So I crossed my fingers and bought the HD 8 Plus. I'm very pleased with it. It's much snappier than the old Fire, and I think having the extra RAM really helps. When both the regular and the Plus versions are on sale, the Plus isn't that much more expensive. It's been great for watching videos and doing some other basic internet stuff. I put the play store on just to download a couple of apps that the Amazon app store doesn't have, and that's worked smoothly. As an entertainment device or as a backup to your phone or a more powerful tablet, this is great. You can use most of the basic communication and social media aps and watch videos from all of the major streaming services. It's also not bad for Kindle books, especially ones with illustrations or color photos, though I still prefer my regular Kindle for reading text. The only thing that I really don't like is the feel of the touch screen. It works just fine, but all of my phones and my earlier tablets had gorilla glass, so I guess I'm spoiled by that.In terms of design, I think that the Amazon "skin" over the android os is particularly useful for young kids and for less tech-savvy adults who can take advantage of the straightforward presentation of apps and content, especially if your household uses the Amazon ecosystem for other things, such as Ring doorbells, Alexa, Kindle, Prime, etc. That said, there's quite a bit of content "suggested" to you by Amazon (advertised), and if you're an impulse buyer, that might not be good!I haven't needed to set up parental controls, but they are there, so parents can customize what their kids can do with the tablet, which is a nice feature.Oh, he my mom's old tablet has found a new role as an ersatz Echo, plugged in in our living room with Alexa on show mode. Works great!
